As long as a dog cannot get through a fence I don't understand the problem?! Half the dogs in our street attack the fence when we walk past...big deal. ;) Councils need to spend their time on something important.....

ETA: I was being bad and derailing the thread. ;)

I first saw a pcture of Lili on her breeders website. That weekend OH and I drove over 4 hours to pick her up We walked into the breeders yard and there was a puppy pen full of baby Aussies , I think there were 8 left....we walked over and had a play with them all, we wanted a female and there was two left, the breeder had a home for one but gave us the choice of which one we wanted. I watched them for a while and Lili just stood out, she was sooo gorgeous....20 minutes later we were back in the car with a fluffy puppy I met Mosley when he was surrendered at the shelter I worked at. I was in the reception area when his owner handed him over. I gave him a cuddle and went out and told everyone he was mine. He was neutered the next day and we picked him up the day after. I can still remember seeing him sitting at the front of his pen after his operation howling his wee heart out Though all was good when he met Lili, they played for about 16 hours straight ;)

What Don't Most People Know About Your Breed?
Dame Aussie replied to RallyValley's topic in General Dog Discussion
Lots! First off most people don't know what either of my dogs are I have an Aussie, I've been asked why we docked her tail and am constantly telling people, including vets, she was born that way. People usually guess that she's a BC x Husky and I've had to argue with a few people about the fact she is not a Koolie, she is an Aussie. Understandable though as they really aren't all that common. People always comment on her markings (she is red merle) and want to know what breed she is. Our other boy is an Anatolian x Maremma and people don't even know what he is, just that he's huge We tell them about the breeds background and what he's like and by the time they've finished meeting him they're in love -
I'm honestly shocked that people do this. I've read a few threads on here about the same thing and each time I am appalled. Who does that??!! ;)

Watching this thread with anticipation.....We have the same problem. At the moment we're using two nice big throws, but the ends fall down and they're just not covering the whole couch properly

Another God I Love My Dog Thread
Dame Aussie replied to Simply Grand's topic in General Dog Discussion
My dogs are my life so I know how you feel It's so good to have them around -
I see what the writer is getting at, but if a dog is descended from an animal that is descended from a wolf, then a dog is descended from a wolf....
-
OMG he is to die for So happy to hear him and Ivy are getting along!!
-
Sorry it didn't work out. Maybe wait until your kids are a bit bigger? Any puppy will be boisterous so unless you get an older dog they'll probably get knocked over! Don't feel too bad, you gave it a go
-
I second that! DOL is the best forum on the net
-
Nice one puggerup, it's people like you who make a difference Fingers crossed the place gets closed down and kitties are ok .

That's what happened to us. Where did the days go when you would speak to someone before calling authorities! Good luck with it dogdayz
-
Yeah, speak to them about it. One of our two can be a bit of a barker, having said that though he is inside at night so can only make noise during the day, and if we are home we go straight out and get him. Just have a chat to them, maybe tell them you have dogs too and you know what it's like, reccommend some training ideas etc. Good luck
-
I won't watch it, having worked in a shelter I've seen too much already. So sad
-
Our boy can be a bit like this sometimes, HE decides when HE wants to do things We're working through it with training and he's a gorgeous boy most of the time but I know the feeling. Just stick with it He is also a teeanger and quite an independant breed

I feel your pain.....my mum tells me all the time we are cruel for keeping sally in suburbia mind you she gets walked, played with, trips to beach/parks...but we are cruel Yep..."Hey shouldn't that dog be on a farm??" What? This one? On the couch next to me? Riiight......
-
Very expensive, the highest price I've ever seen is around $300 and that was only the other month.

I have one purebreed dog and one rescue and they're both perfect as far as I'm concerned But I agree, who cares what other people think. You are choosing a dog that matches your lifestyle, has been health checked and bred well...nothing wrong with that!
-
So OH and I are starting to research for our next addition. Very exciting!!! We want an Amstaff pup, not fussed on sex as we have one of each already, not really fussed on colour although OH has a soft spot for black and white . We're in Vic and would prefer to buy from a breeder here so we can meet mum and dad etc, we're aware of BSL as I used to work at a shelter so know that we need to make sure the dog has papers etc but hey I'm in DOL so I know the go I'm just wondering if anyone knows of some good breeders in VIC, I'd love some recommendations as a place to start my research!! Thanks

Question For Purebred Dog Owners
Dame Aussie replied to aussielover's topic in General Dog Discussion
I was working at a shelter when I got my Aussie...I got the same comments. I wouldn;t listen, you know what you want and it's rare to find an Aussie in a shelter (unless it's Aussie rescue of course). The only time you should feel bad about purchasing a dog is if it's from a pet shop. Supporting good breeders is a responsible thing to do, I have one purebred dog and one rescue -

Do You Feed Your Dogs Morning, Night Or Both.
Dame Aussie replied to ~Myschafis~'s topic in General Dog Discussion
We feed in the morning and night. Our dogs are 17 months and 22 months old. I just prefer it. I like to give them two meals. One of ours is also very big so we like to give him two smaller meals to avoid bloat. If I only fed once I would feed in the morning to give them the energy they need for the day. ETA:Spelling
