Me too And an Anatolian x Maremma....
-
Was just brushing Lili and found what feels and looks like dry skin or a scab attached to a little bundle of hair, then I found another one They're only very small, and aren't bothering her, it's like she has had a scab and it has grown out with her hair if that makes sense? First thought was ringworm?? Any other ideas? Me thinks we might be off to the Vet tomorrow

Large Dogs And Small Dogs Living Together?
Dame Aussie replied to ash&elar's topic in General Dog Discussion
Lili isn't small, but Mo is twice her weight and we have no issues, they play well and there has never been an injury or real fight....touch wood!! -
Do Your Dogs Sleep/snuggle Up Together?
Dame Aussie replied to Magstar's topic in General Dog Discussion
Rarely, they will sit next to each other to eat a bone and sometimes lie near each other but never actually snuggle. Usually Mo is on the couch or the floor and Lili is on the other couch Not sure why, they love each other and play like mad things but just don't snuggle. However, they do groom each other a lot -
Mo Just Had A Bit Of Bone Stuck In His Mouth!
Dame Aussie replied to Dame Aussie's topic in General Dog Discussion
Thanks for the tips He was VERY stressed out and was getting more and more frantic by the second, so I just bit the bullet and ripped it out But yes, a pair of pliers sound good! -
Wow. Sorry but if I were in your position, I would keep my dogs inside despite not being allowed to. No way would I leave them out there if that kind of stuff is going in in the street.

Mo Just Had A Bit Of Bone Stuck In His Mouth!
Dame Aussie replied to Dame Aussie's topic in General Dog Discussion
Very scary! I agree though, I could never stop giving my dogs bones, they LOVE them so much -
Ooooh goody,I've been looking for these too, thanks

I'm always careful watching my two with bones and thank Dog....Mosley just started pawing at his mouth and getting very distressed, I managed to look in his mouth and a little bit of bones was stuck across the top of his mouth between his teeth! Luckily it was small and I was able to get my hand in and pull it out, but I tell you what, I wasn't sure I'd pull a full hand out again Bloody bones!

Your reaction is typical of the lynch mob mentality that the mass media thrives on, the Pit Bull is much maligned and often innocent of wrong doings so much so it has a name-Brown Dog Syndrome, the general public is so adament that every dog attack by a medium sized dog is a Pit Bull rampage People are passionate about defending the Pit Bull and other Bullies against the horrible prejudices that are heaped on them by the (largely) ill informed public. Ignorance is a killer and too many people have had their beloved family pets killed due to looking like a Pit Bull. It annoys me that if a Pit Bull is slandered and abused people are not meant to defend them but anybody should be allowed to defend their breed from nasty verbal attacks and if it comes accross as over defensive, well no wonder. Lest we forget.....The 1000's of Pitbulls killed by people with the same thoughts as yours. So true, people always being asked why they would have that breed rather than another....well why would one get a maltese, a kelpie, a mastiff etc etc etc? Yet owners of any other breed don't get hassled. Why should Pitbull owners have to justify their breed of choice?!
-
Not uniformly they aren't and not to the same degree. Furthermore, with the right socialisation, training and control, their DA tendencies can be managed. Dangerous dogs are made, not born. The fallacy that all APBTs are DA is not nearly as dangerous as folk believing that other breeds can't be. Exactly PF. Moselle....you state it is a "fact" that pitbulls are DA...how then do you explain the many that aren't?

Bad Week For Irressponisble Dog Owners

He would've been seeing me in court after I punched the ^&%$^*GRF!!!!! in the head if he'd tried to kick any of mine Tell me about it! -
For people who keep their dogs inside during the day, are your dogs small or big? I would like to leave my two in all day but one is rather large and if I do they're manic by the time we get home.

I was bitten by a small brown jumping spider when I was 5. It turned into a horrible, infected crater at least a centimetre deep in the top of my arm Not nice, I know what it looked like because I felt it bite me and saw it jump off my arm. I hate spiders.

Border Collies And Australian Shepherds
Dame Aussie replied to haylz27's topic in General Dog Discussion
Can I ask, is she a blue or red merle? I can usually tell the difference but in some instances like yours, I admit I can't tell and in one photo I think I can tell, then the next photo contradicts what I thought Yup she's red -

Border Collies And Australian Shepherds
Dame Aussie replied to haylz27's topic in General Dog Discussion
Just wanted to add....... When looking for a pup I was looking at GR's and BC's, and I too then came across Aussies, I couldn't believe there weren't more of them! People still don't know what Lili is, they think she's a BC x Husky because she has a merled eye. There really aren't a lot of them around. Looks wise, I prefer the Aussies stockiness and face, not as pointy as a BCs. I haven't owned a BC but would love to one day Temperament and personality wise, I can't fault my girl, I have friends who would happily steal her out from under me, she is so devoted, just wants to please me she loves her cuddles and her wiggly bum is to die for Her face smiles when she's happy. She is also quite laid back for a working dog, as long as she gets her daily walk she is happy to lay on the couch or sit out the back with us. She is wary of strangers, but sooo trusting of us it's so endearing. Get an AUSSIE! Here's the cuddle monster out the back and with her Daddy.... -
I just sprinkle it over the dry food. The dogs couldn't care less, it doesn't have a very strong smell/taste, compared to Sashas Blend anyway which is very fishy.

Stopping Dog Barking At People Walking Past Our Property
Dame Aussie replied to fiveplusone's topic in General Dog Discussion
Yep, this is what I'd be trying first. If it doesn't work then I'd do some training with him. Maybe get someone (friend/family etc) to walk past and reward him if he is quiet? -
I hate it when people put any unfavourable behaviour down to a dog being dominant. All the behaviours you listed are normal for an untrained puppy IMO!
-
AUSSIE!!! Although I must admit I LOVE Tollers The only issue we have had with Lili is that she can be very wary of strangers. She isn't what I would call aggressive but if someone she doesn't know comes into her space she will bark and try and get away. It takes her a few meetings to warm up to people Once she has, however, she is the cuddliest, snuggliest thing in the world!!!!!!!! You can't get rid of her! She is very active but we take her out once a day and play fetch as well and she's fine.
