Does The Council Put Down Dogs Within A Few Days?
Dame Aussie replied to Outkast1972's topic in General Dog Discussion

Ah crap Steve. So sorry this happened. RIP Vader

That's what I was thinking!

Ok, so we are in a rental property surrounded by dogs At the back we have 2 Corgis and a Maltese x, to the left there is a GR and what looks like maybe a Weimerana? And in front if them (units) is something big that I haven't seen. The littlies at the back bark a lot but not constantly, our dogs chase them up and down the fence but don't really bark back. Ours aren't real barkers, they can be loud when they fight and will go off if someone walks past but no constant woofing. Anyway, for the last few days the GR and Weim have been at it CONSTANTLY. Everytime we go out the back it gets ten times worse and then sets off the littlies at the back too, we pretty much have to come back inside to get any peace. Thing is, when the littlies bark their owners call them, as do we if ours bark, and does the owner of the big dog, but nothing from this house, the two dogs are in a teeny tiny courtyard alone, all day, and it sounds like all night. We've only been here for about 6 weeks and I don't know what to do. I don't mind a bit of barking but I feel really sorry for these dogs, I also dont want our other neighbours thinking it's our dogs either! I worry if we make a complaint or try and talk to them they might not react well, it's become a real pain in the butt though! Has anyone else had similar problems?

Advice Needed For Council Approval For 3 Dogs
Dame Aussie replied to GRLC's topic in General Dog Discussion
I'd appeal it. If it was still rejected I would tell them I'd rehomed one of the dogs. He just comes to visit lots! Good luck. I hate that we have to run these sorts of things past councils, my house, my dogs...bugger off....if only -

Exactly. Noone who gave a crap about their dog would leave it in the pound any longer than absolutely necessary. As if dogs think that way -
Ours like their own space, they never cuddle

Lili will growl at Mosley when he tries to take her ball and has done it with another dog before. She is very possessive of her ball and we're aware of this so normally we only play fetch alone. If she was growling at me like that I would check out her health and then look at some training and improving my leadership. I don't think there is any need to panic but it definitely doesn't sound normal or in line with her normal behaviour and needs to be addressed. Good luck with it.

Mosley does NOTHING. Seriously he is the laziest dog I've ever met, as soon as he comes in at night he lays on the floor and sleeps right through For an hour first thing in the morning however, he is feral!! Lili is very attached to us so if we are relaxing she will be up on the couch with us wanting snuggles If she isn't up there she's on the floor sucking on her cushion Occasionally she will potter around and play with her ball.

Sorry, misread your question!! I have found bigger dogs to better with cats, just my experience, but having said that, I think it depends on how they're introduced and the younger they are the better.
-
I know that the rescues always suggest putting a price on a dog. People value something if they have paid for it. If it is for free some people think "I'll give it a go and hand it into the pound if I don't want it anymore". I don't know what they're going to do if this dog is found. Someone got the dog for free and then on-sold it - all legal? My thoughts also
-
Every night on our walk the little rat from across the road rushes across the street yapping its head off at us. ;) Some people are useless. In Vic dogs are required to be leashed unless in a designated off leash area.

Part Of Me Is Panicing. Should I Be?

Same, gone in ten mins -
Occasionally our two will hump each other. I couldn't really care less I don't think it's necessarily always dominance as some people do. To me it's just a natural behaviour, like digging, turning in circles before settling down etc. Having said that I would never let my dogs hump another dog! Keep it in the family

Mine only have to cough or hold their head to the side for a second and we're down there
-
Bahahaha I loved when he "escaped" through the front door
-
Good to hear Bub

I have a friend with two boy SBT's and they absolutely LOVE each other and are perfectly trained so I don't really see an issue, as long as he's trained that is
-
Oh Dee al he's lovely
-
SBTs do seem to be prone to skin issues, not necessarily just the blue ones either, they seem quite prone to flea allergy dermatitis and the like. PF, how much more common is it with the blues, do you know? And can it be controlled with good flea protection etc?

Hi many thanks for the info. Me & my wife only live in medium size house with small back yard. As we used to enjoy walking & cycling our previous dog. We intend to keep a dog again with the same type of activities. Also, we would want a small dog. What sort of of breed would you recommend? I did see the photo, lol. I didnt read all the posts but after having read the above post I would have thought that the OP is looking for a dog to walk or cycle alongside them. I dont think they are looking for a lapdog to carry along when they are exercising. Everyone has said the same thing Moselle, PF put that up as a joke.....

I was thinking Goldie too before I read the whole post. I don't know how easy they are to train though having never had one?
