How Did Everyone Fall In Love Their Pooch?
Dame Aussie replied to huskies4life88's topic in General Dog Discussion
Well with Lili we went to see the breeder to choose a pup. We knew we wanted a girl and there were only 2 left. One look at her and I'd made my decision! With Mo, well, he was surrendered in to the pound where I worked, and again, as soon as I saw him I told them to put my name down on him and took him home that weekend. Love at first sight on both counts :D -
Oh I'd love to but I'm not in QLD Good luck with it, looks great!!

This. Mosley spots cats from miles away and we have loads of wandering felines in our area....yay for me  My girl is also quite reserved but the thing that gets me is her peeing every 30 seconds. Having said that, I do enjoy our time walking, they absolutely love ti and I feel bad if I miss a walk.

My Puppy Keeps Pooping In My Spray Tan Tent
Dame Aussie replied to a topic in General Dog Discussion
If she has pooped there once it will always smell more appealing than other areas, what do you clean it with? You could use something to get rid of the smell and then she may not be so inclined. Having said that maybe it feels like a private little toilet to her :D How cute. I misread your caption and thought it said "porn lover' -
Professional Pet Transport Services In Australia
Dame Aussie replied to DogSvet's topic in General Dog Discussion
We have only heard the OP's side of the story. Maybe they were very rude to the Transport Company. That's why I only commented on the transport side of matters. Of course, that's why I said they "may" need to improve their customer service. I can only go on the information I have I also added that I had heard good things about them. I hardly bagged the company out. -
Yellowy/greeny Discharge From Puppys Privates
Dame Aussie replied to Aztec Gold's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Known as "pus willy" in our house! hahaha gross!!!! -
It's an assumption made by so many people despite the fact they're not exactly low in the level of effort and care they require. They see them as guide dogs and that makes them automatically quiet, calm, level headed and low maintenance. That's very true, we would have people come in wanting to get a lab pup and they would be under the impression they "came trained already" as they are guide dogs

I see no real issue from what you have said, it sounds like she would love to have a mate. As others have said though, you need to be sure it's what you want and you have the time/money to deal with two. I got my second dog only a few months after my first dog, I'm sure she couldn't have cared less whether there was another dog around but they're best mates now and I have no regrets

Im so over little brats. Last place we lived in they would throw rocks over the fence, at the window, at the dogs.... Why are there so many these days!!??? Is there no discipline? I never would have thrown rocks at someones dog or window?!

Exactly what I was thinking, this thread makes labs sound like demon dogs ETA: Spelling

Most pet owners, yep, but the other 44% of the population, maybe not. I have to add also that it's probably more common than one would think that chips are missed in pounds.

Professional Pet Transport Services In Australia
Dame Aussie replied to DogSvet's topic in General Dog Discussion
I agree, they can't do much about delays but it seems they were quite rude to you. Obviously if the pup doesn't turn up where it is meant to you would be worried, the least they could do is explain the situation. I have heard a lot of good things about Dogtainers and wouldnt necessarily discount them but they may need to improve their service, as could many other companies in Australia to be honest. I would give them some feedback about their customer sevrice if I were you. -
Yay!!! So happy to hear he's doing well!

Me either, my girl is on main register and cost the same as all the others.

Oh look at her Beautiful, well done Gayle. I want a blue merle!

Yellowy/greeny Discharge From Puppys Privates
Dame Aussie replied to Aztec Gold's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I have never seen this on Mosley, a fact I'm quite happy about -
Oh gosh , sorry I don't have any advice but I hope you find her. Good luck.

I can also see it from both sides. From working at a pound I know that a lot of people will keep a dog if it has no collar as that means the owners musn't care. A lot ofpeople arent very up to date with microchips and the like and still want to look for a tag around the dogs neck. I guess it depends on where youn live also and what kind of fences you have. I think breakaway collars are a good choice, you hopefully avoid any accidents and if the dog does get out it has ID.

Lili will stand at the back door the same way as she does when she needs to go toilet, but when I let her out she grabs the closest ball and drops it at my feet.... Mosley isn't too devious but one time we had some friends staying in the lounge on the sofa bed and they awoke to 45kgs of hairy arse dog slowly creeping up the bed from the foot like a wee spy or something As if he though they wouldn't notice him

Can we just lock him back up in the Big Brother house....for good Please
-
Amen to that!

If you are worried then I would do as tdierikx suggested and get a trainer to observe them playing and give you some advice. If it were my dogs I wouldn't be too worried, they are both still young and pups can be very rough in play. Mosley quite often will launch himself at Lili (he is double her weight and at first I used to worry he would hurt her but he seems to know his own strength)and he also chews on her ears and grabs her collar etc, difference is she doesn't really seem to mind and just wrestles back. Occasionally if he is too much she will crack it and attack him back and he knows she's had enough, but it sounds like your girl is a bit more reserved and maybe a bit overwhelmed by her mates enthusiasm! Hopefully you'll get some advice from a trainer here. Good luck with it.

What is it about chicken??\ Lili is OBSESSED with chicken. If we bring chicken into the house she is all over it. She's not like that with ANYTHING else, only chicken, she turns into a horrible little gollum like creature and will stalk anyone who has chicken until they give her a bit. She'd take your hand off for it.

Sorry I don't have any articles but my OH is from Europe and it's true that they don't desex their dogs as much as we do over here. They see it as being done more for the convenience of the owner rather than the health of the animal. It also seems over there that the ownership of dogs is taken more seriously, not as many idiots getting a dog 'cause it looks tough and just leaving it in the back yard. Dogs are inside a lot and in some places allowed in shops and on public transport, it's a much better attitude than we have here I think.
