British Bulldog - Flea Allergy Dermatitis
Dame Aussie replied to Carlo11's topic in General Dog Discussion
Poor Pearl How people can allow animals to get into such a state is beyond me. I don't have any recommendations on food sorry, other than lots of fish oil for her coat/skin, best of luck with finding her a nice new home -
OMG how gorgeous!

That must be so horrible to hear stans mum, good on you for educating them and not just telling them where to go, which would probably be my first reaction!
-
That first pic looks like he's been electrocuted or something Those are all gold

Agree with perse, you don't know if the dog needs surgery yet so you can't just book it in. Is there anyone who could help you by taking her to the vet if you aren't up to it? I think it's important she sees a vet very soon. Good luck with it.

This is what I think happens- and its not always the case!! I think as time passes fluids will become standard practice, and pain relief already should be!! Totally agree. When I was nursing the general opinion was that they were offered as an extra because the cheaper price without them would encourage people to have surgery done, when they maybe would not have with the whole price. Guess they figure it's better for the dog to get the care it needs without fluids/blood, than not get it at all because "it's too expensive."

What neurological problems is the dog showing? Have you taken the dog to the vet??

We normally give raw meaty bones in the morning and a mix of dry and something else at night. the something else can be sardines, tuna, chicken, egg, yoghurt etc. We have tried many different dry foods and the ones our dogs like the best is plain old Pedigree They won't touch some of the premiums but the Pedigree!! They love it We do still feed premium though 'cause I just don't feel right giving them the cheapest stuff and we sometimes put a little bit of wet on top of the food but that's very rare. They get lots of meaty bones like chicken frames, lamb necks, cut offs, ribs, hearts/kidneys, shanks etc, we have moved though and are finding it hard to find somewhere to get good dog bones reliably!

I always have bloods done, and fluids. I don't care what it costs. As has been mentioned, it is a lot easier to already have the catheter set up, dog on fluids, than to have to do it all in case of an emergency. Why would you even take the risk? Fluids also help them recover quicker, and as others said the bloods are a good base line and health check to keep in case you need to compare later on.

Do Your Dogs Decide When Its Time To Leave The Computer?
Dame Aussie replied to redangel's topic in General Dog Discussion
Lili just drops her ball on my lap and rests her head on the coffee table till I can't ignore her any longer Mo will just throw himself over my lap and make it impossible to even reach the keyboard, he also whacks the laptop with his paws. -
Awesome Huge Foam Bags Available Now
Dame Aussie replied to Isabel964's topic in General Dog Discussion
The question is.. is your vacuum cleaner really up to hoovering up huge amounts of foam? I have bought so many dog beds and have found that the majority are really only suited to dogs who do nothing rougher to their beds than maybe jumping on them. We have a bed tester at the moment (the lovely Doug) whose record for killing a bed is about five minutes- Four minutes and thirty seconds to notice the bed was there, thirty seconds to reduce it to a pile of shredded fabric and chunks of foam. A lot of manufacturers have a slightly different idea of "indestructable", I think. Yep, sounds like our house  Every bed I buy, foam, stuffing, trampoline etc....they all get destroyed sooner or later. I've given up and now they can sleep on the floor or the couch....or my bed -

What a beautiful boy I like Number 2, again because of the background.

Every time I buy something a bit expensive or cool, my dogs don't want a bar of it. However, if it's a stuffed toy for a present or something they're all over it  Lili enjoys fluffy things, they are her "babies" and if Mosley tries to steal them there's hell to pay!! She also loves anything that squeaks and tennis balls. Mo has never been a toy kind of dog, he'd prefer to just lay down for a bit but I got him one of those plastic water bottles wrapped in felt toys and he's been playing with it a lot. Anything soft lasts about a week in our house, although there is a fluffy pig that has been kicking around in the backyard for quite a while now, not sure what the go is with him..... Oh and I have to agree with megan, my dogs would prefer socks/knickers/bras over ANY toy

The SBT's I've looked at have ranged from about $800-$1200 depending on the breeder, this was in VIC. We want one as our next dog so we check litters/breeders out occasionally. I'm sure you're aware but just in case let them know to be careful of breeders charging upwards of $2k for blues . I don't have an recommendations though, sorry.

Yay for another 'shy' puppy I think a lot of us DOLers just have very polite little babies Exactly! If your boy is anthing like mine you won't have to worry about shyness, his favourite thing ever is to go to the vet Funny, becasue when Lili was a baby she was the feral one going nuts in puppy class but now she's far more reserved than Mosley!

Glad to hear she's fine megan. My too are ridiculous when it's hot, it's like they turn into stuffed animals for the day...Mosley practically melts into the couch

Question Re Staffordshire Bulll Terriers
Dame Aussie replied to Pollywaffle's topic in General Dog Discussion
Mainly due to their popularity, they are a very popular breed and therefore more of them show up in pounds, that's just my experience though. They're gorgeous dogs, most likely our next dog will be an SBT. -
yip, the question sounds a lot like an ad... My first thought also

Gawd, I wouldn't be going back there. Sounds just like Mosley when he was in his puppy class. He acted exactly the same way and was quite disturbed by all the manic fluffies looning around him He just sat by my feet. Everyone in our class loved him, he was so well mannered and calm. He is 3 now and LOVES other dogs and people, he is not shy at all. The woman running your class sounds like a total cretin, she obviosuly hasn't got a clue about dog behaviour and I'd be finding another class asap.

Do you mind telling me how best to tie it down please SwaY? Last thing I want is the expensive gazebo in the middle of the road
