OMG that is THE CUTEST thing I've ever seen, Stop it Pav, you're making me clucky with all the puppy bitey face pics
-
That sounds horrible , all the best with it. Hope your dogs are ok.
-
Thing that gets to me is they ignore valid complaints and emergencies and focus on this BS
-
No they have no right to treat her that way. I would do what Pav said, have her keep a diary and proactively contact the council herself so she gets in before they do. Good luck.
-
Ahhh I get you now. Is there anyone she could stay with?

I've noticed it's usually only the young fosters that do it. Our last girl (Sophie) was a bitey-face monster and if Doug got bored and tried to walk away, Sophie would bitey-leg him and follow him around (she was a few months younger). The ear licking though.. interesting that you mention that because I've only seen it as a habit in one pair of dogs and that's Kiff and our old girl, Sally. They're not "close" (he'd still growl at her over certain things) but we've had both of them for a few years now and the ear licking is something he only does to her. Doug seems interested in ear licking but then.. Doug is the sort of dog who'll try to squeeze himself into bed with any dog that doesn't growl too much at him, he's a bit of a tart :p Gotta love the Dougster :) Maddie loves the ear licking thing. Stan sticks his nose in her ear to make it stand up (she's got pretty big wing nuts that go every which way) and then away he goes. Mads tilts her head to the side and closes her eyes :) That's what Mo does. He will walk over to Lili and turn his head so his ear is in her face, she then cleans both ears and eyes while he lies there with his eyes closed
-
 I wish I had more dogs to go on the bed!
-
Yep, but I'm crazy too if that's the case  :p
-
What do you mean "private" community? Is it the government that are developing? Your Aunt doesn't own the land so it looks like she won't have much say unfortunately. Just saw the door knocking post....has she reported this?
-
Ours are bitey face converts " Very common and they seem to do it when they've been playing and are tired as others have said. It then ends with Lili cleaning Mo's ears/eyes.
-
Yeah we've got one shedding like a bugger right now Some good advice so far but when it comes down to it, no, there is nothing you can do about the shedding, but if you follow the advise you may be able to minimise it. I'm used to having hairy clothes
-
Ooooh they look lovely!
-
Shes going through what's called the uglies at the moment and losing all her puppy coat before getting her big adult coat so looks gangly at the moment  Her name is Bonnie so I have a Bonnie and Lucy, aren't they the cutest names ever? I'm awaiting a swarovki crystal harness, collar and leash set to arrive from America for my little gorgeousness! Crazy dog lady right here   adorable. You're making me want one but my Boofer would probably step on her Pics of her in her Swarovski best when you get them mandatory!

OT but she is GORGEOUS don, she looks like a wee soft toy what's her name?

The other funny thing about my bitey face girl Aussie 3 is that she is an overshot girl, so it's like being kissed with someone with buck teeth, all you feel are these little front top teeth as they stick out further than the rest lol. It was our saver when she was little, before she learn't some manners & used to launch herself at your face with excitment :) Lili used to run from wherever she was and launch at our faces too when she was little -
Yes I get that but you could say the same thing for puppy farm dogs too. If they aren't sold by a certain time frame they are killed .The puppy farmer doesn't just hang onto them indefinitely so you can use the same argument for puppy farmer dogs being better off in a pet shop too. If they are not relying on emotional blackmail and impulse buys then where is the harm in them taking dogs in whch are not for sale - ex rescue dogs and encouraging people to go out of their way and visit the shelter? I see what you're saying but I don't think that this is comparable to puppy farmers. They shouldn't be brought into the world AT ALL. But once they're here my priority would be to home them. Anyway, probably have to agree to disagree on this one
-
But what if they are going to a home where they won't be looked after properly, won't be treated well or will be dumped again later because the people who purchased it didn't think about what they would do with the dog when they went on holidays or had a baby? Those are the results of impulse buying in many cases and I honestly don't believe that potential owners are being properly screened to avoid these things, when they are being sold from a pet shop. Of course that's a possibility whether the purchase is on impulse or not. As I've said though, I only agree with it if the correct procedures are followed.
-
I hate pet shops, just so that's clear. However, working in a shelter I have seen so many animals PTS due to there simply being no room to house them for adoption. This is the alternative, for me, these animals getting a home, if it means that they spend a few days in a pet shop, is better than them being dead. It's that simple. To me anyway.
-
Linda, not one person has said that they wouldn't prefer the dog to come from a good breeder. I actually said that exact thing! All we are saying is that a shelter like RSPCA, Lort Smith etc is not a great environment for the animal to be in and the pet shops aren't any worse.

Face bitey  -
No, what we are saying is that the difference between being in a shelter (RSPCA concrete cage) and being in a shop (Pet Barn glass box) isn't much. What "social enrichment" do dogs in shelters get? SFA
