Its true. It's a real issue. The general public generally just dont know about reg breeders and go through gumtree/pet shops. They're honestly baffled when you bring up the issues with doing this. Makes it hard when breeders don't want to advertise in these places as it means the person doesn't have any option there but BYBs. But of a catch 22 I think, but I think if breeders want people to buy well bred dogs from them they need to advertise where these people are looking. The pet shop information centre is a good idea...in a perfect world hey

Drooling After Anaesthetic? - Update, Rip My Little Man
Dame Aussie replied to kiwioz's topic in General Dog Discussion
How's Cal doing kiwioz? Poor bugger I hope he's feeling better -
Same. Especially when it is a life or death scenario with ticks. Just not worth the risk IMO. Yep me too. if it were only for fleas then it wouldn't be too much of a worry, but with ticks? No way.

Mine does fall over sometimes, he'll start leaning back for belly rubs and just fall....big idiot

This is the same with my Anatolian x. He does it during cuddles. He leans and sits on your feet and then looks back at you with this big sad face....saying Pet me!

My friends Mum had one when she was younger, it got along fine with their other dog and they never had an issues. We also found a lost dog once which turned out to be a Dingo Mastiff cross and he was absolutely stunning and soooo friendly. Does anyone know what the deal is in VIC re keeping them? I'm doing some googling now..... Doesn't matter, found it :)

Rspca Criticised Over Claims Test To Decide Fate Of Dogs Is Misused
Dame Aussie replied to minimax's topic in In The News
Just for the record and I know it is a different test but my dog that I mentioned in an earlier post was classified as an orange dog and before I was allowed to adopt it was explained exactly what it meant and I had to sign an indemnity form absolving the RSPCA of any responsibility. That's interesting, I haven't seen that done before. It's good you were made aware right from the start and if it helps more dogs get homes then that's fantastic. -
Rspca Criticised Over Claims Test To Decide Fate Of Dogs Is Misused
Dame Aussie replied to minimax's topic in In The News
I agree and I am super careful with our foster dogs and assessing their behaviours in different circumstances etc but the test is quite inflexible and some of the instant fails (with no discretion) are a little bit concerning. I am not saying my dogs are perfect, but Hoover in particular is pretty bomb-proof and placid but even he will growl at strange dogs/strangers sometimes if they approach the house/approach him if he's on leash. Oh yeah, I totally agree. I just think that is the reason why they have such a stringent test. -

I agree the test is crap, but I think we have to keep in mind that they are covering themselves somewhat also. It's fine to say growling is normal....but just say you adopt a dog from the pound/shelter which growled in it's assessment. They decided to give it the benefit of the doubt and adopt it out to you. Then just say it bites or attacks you or someone else in the family. You'd be pretty p*ssed they adopted it out. Yes dogs aren't completely predictable, that's obvious, but the shelters are responsible for everything they adopt out. This is what they are trying to prevent, so whilst I agree it needs to be changed, I can see why they have to be VERY careful with what they adopt out. -
 that's awesome!

Belle (B&W) and Chip (Tan). Chi x brother and sister who we had for 17 years. Both were PTS within a few months of each other due to old age this year. RIP munchkins, I love you. I don't have any pics on this computer of our first dog, Max (Boxer) I will post some up when I get home.

Well it does concern me greatly, i just hope there is no long term damage. Yeah exactly. I hope whatever you try helps!

I think Sway sells them? Member/Commercial marketplace maybe? We were thinking of getting some!

We feed ours a raw bone almost every day and they both have pretty good teeth. However, even between the two, only 4 months apart in age, Mosley's teeth have never been as white and clean as Lili's so I think it does depend on the dog. Maybe up their bones a bit and see if it makes a difference? You can also get things you add to their water to remove plaque I think?
