Yes that is what was said but that isnt really relevant - nor could an "expert" be sure anyway - would it have been any different if they had been or resembled a different breed? Several years ago 2 Show Rotties attacked and killed a couple of young girls walking in a park - its still horrible and any dog regardless of what breed it resembles needs to be contained and on leash. making laws for one breed type doesnt do anything to stop other breed types doing exactly the same thing. Exactly. As far as I'm concenred breed is irrelevant. We all know a bigger dog has the potential to do more damage, it doesn't mean anything unless the council enforce the laws they already have and look at targeting irresponsible owners more. -
It's also a great day out with friends who share your passion for dogs. It simply comes down to who you choose to associate with There are toxic types whenever there is competition. Whether you decide to let them colour your experience of the show ring is up to you. All I can say is don't knock it till you've tried it. I wasn't meaning to "knock it". Of course it can be a great day out. Just saying that it doesn't interest me due to some of the things I've heard from people who are involved. I've witnessed more bitchiness at other sports then I ever have at showing LisaCC these people think they are doing you a favour. I know that if there was a dog I had seen being aggressive at shows and one of my friends wanted a dog in that breed I would discretely warn them. They may have gone about it the wrong way but I actually think they may have done you a kindness - I know I wouldn't have the guts to tell a stranger something like that. Imagine if they had said nothing at all and you ended up with a pup with DA issues and then later found out 'everyone' knew the dam was DA? Wouldn't you feel more put out then a warning beforehand? I don't doubt it, that's why I'm not involved in anything competitive.

That's the idea of BSL, to get rid of the breed types who most commonly display that character Yeah. Does it seem to be working to you? -

I care. Labelling these dogs as "monsters" suggests that somehow they are extraordinary. Until I hear evidence to the contrary, I'll consider them highly dog aggressive dogs. No more, no less. Hyperbolic language is what I expect of the press, not people discussing these incidents on a dog forum. I agree. We don't need any more hysteria, there's enough already. -

You don't even know there WAS HA. Many people get themselves injured intervening in dog aggression incidents by getting their bodies in their dogs teeth. No aggression may have been intended. We simply don't know. Yeah this is very true, It's quite easy to get bitten when intervening. -
20kg??? Already? OMG. Loving the ears :)

Yes I've seen vaccinated dogs get it, it's not as common but it can happen. -
I know I'm undecided on the children thing.... I agree that feeding them meat is making a choice for them....but not letting them have it is doing that too....but then parents make choices about religion, morals, ethics etc also....and that's seen as being ok. I think if I had kids I would inform them about the benefits and reasons of a vego diet, but it would be up to them to choose. Until they could, as really littlies though, I'm really not sure if I would feed them meat or not?

Same :) I got a squeaky ball and it is soooooo squeaky...Lili is going to lose her sh*t over it  -
this is something I do struggle with, and I tend to try not to think about it, but it is a source of guilt for me. I've been to slaughter yards and sale yards. I've seen frightened injured animals put up for sale and know where they're headed. Who knows, maybe this thread will be the turning point for me. I saw online yesterday a chook workshop coming up, it covers poultry care and also killing and dressing the fowl for the table. An intensive pig farm visit is a nightmare I will never forget. Thank God they banned sow stalls. Yes, very upsetting. They are so intelligent

I think its sad your kids don't get to chose themselves I editted they get to chose when they are old enough. But i see it as me forcing them to kill if i feed them meat when they cant chose Husband who eats meat agrees, because he is informed on the topic and he admits he has no good reason to eat it, he just likes it. Mine is exactly the same. Even if I wanted to feed our dogs on a vegan diet, he wouldn't let me
-
You seem like a very normal vegan, I met one once and she once a few sandwiches short of a picnic that's for sure. You try getting hospital food right for a vegan, a strict very picky one at that. Holy baloney! I know, problem is when you get really extreme about it you just p*ss people off and alienate them, doesn't exactly help the cause

It doesn't matter what breed they are, it was a horrible attack by two badly trained dogs, with an irresponsible owner. Yep. Two sweet innocent litle puppies...once...now grown up and so poorly managed that they have been labelled by society as "vile Monsters" and will be "made to pay" for their anti-social behaviour. Hopefully, so will their owner. But really, if their owner had a better understanding of what can happen when dogs are allowed to grow up without the training and supervision needed to make them acceptable members of the community or at least to restrict their free roaming so as to make sure they don't harrass dog or person, then there would never have been a problem ( or with any dog for that matter). It doesn't matter what breed of dog they are, they have been allowed to become what they have, have inflicted a terrible injury on a person due to a lack of responsibility and now will pay the ultimate price. Does anyone learn anything from these incidents...I truly hope so. It doesn't seem like it -
These animals are only there because we breed them for food. If we didn't breed them they wouldn't be there. Nature is cruel, but factory farming is about as far away from nature as you can get. I don't blame humans for hunting and killing animals for meat, but what we do now, is so far removed from that. I actually don't really have an issue with people hunting and killing either their own raised animals or wild animals for meat. I do have an issue with factory farming and slaughter practices. They are awful, I still haven't been able to watch that movie/documentary about what humans do to nature and the planet, that film actually sent my brother Vegan. Some vegans take it to the next level though. If you get into the nitty gritty there's not much you can eat without something being harmed in the process. Exactly. Basically I want to cause the least suffering possible, that's not to say that I'm causing none, I am. Unfortunately with the way our society is, it's almost impossible to be completely cruelty free
