But it's ok for the OP to judge people whose dogs are outside???? Hypocritical much?!
-
No pack mentality here. I just find it rude that because of one persons comment the OP felt the need to imply all dog owners who leave their dogs outside don't value them.
-
Personally, I would leave it :)
-
yes. Obviously if the weather is freezing and wet , or very hot or a dog is unwell ..indoors is a good spot . :) Totally. Ours stay inside if the weather is foul and when we get home they are raving lunatics

I love Stan!! Everyone loves Stan

Wow. That's rude and judgemental in itself. My dogs are in the back yard when I'm not home and they are certainly treasured companions. Although I guess "plonking" them out there makes me a bad owner? I know they're happier out there than locked inside a house where, as teebs said they would have no chance in a house fire or the like.

Yep nothing illegal about either breed, anywhere in Australia.
-
I think it's mainly to do with them being less able to cope. Their skin is thinner and easier to puncture too. How horrible
-
Soooooooooooo utterly perfect and adorable

Body Corporate angle is a good one.
-
It is, for me at least. The OP was specifically asking about shelters so that's what my response is based on.
-
If you're referring to my post I've seen it with my own eyes so I'm not "spouting rubbish"
-
The get paid for Euthing them, they wouldn't care if none were adopted it is no loss to them. 100% correct.
-
Exactly right. Until people start being responsible for their dogs places like this will ALWAYS be around. They will be around supported by council contracts whether or not people adopt from them. Not going to places like this, I guarantee you, will not shut them down.

I can so picture this, she sounds like a Stafford who belonged to a woman I used to work with. She would come into work sometimes and as soon as she saw, well, anyone, she'd be at their feet, on her back, wriggling round like a nutter for belly rubs

And the Mo...

I thought that was Kepala! Mine love it too!

Not silly at all. I have always put myself between my dogs and oncoming dogs that I am concerned about.. I also use a loud and rough sounding no.. I once picked up my 20+ kg Stafford to protect him from a loose dog much bigger and running at us very fast... Turns out I was worried over nothi g he was just a big boof head but still scary when that much dog is running directly at you.. We do the same. Have had a few dogs charging over to us and every time we have stomped in their direction and yelled at them, they've turned and run away. If they hadn't they would have got a kick. I would pick up my dog if I had to.

I frikkin love your dogs grumpette  Love the swimming pics! There's something so gorgeous about a big bunch of rottis My dogs? Mosley likes to sleep, bark, rip apart toys and beds, crawl all over me, and give long wet kisses  Lili likes her ball, her ball, her tug toys, aaannnd her ball....Oh and stealing food if she gets the chance

Consequences Of Not Registering?
Dame Aussie replied to mixeduppup's topic in General Dog Discussion
Probably depends on the council but she could be up for a hefty fine. -
+1 If she likes the dog, and it's suitable, why "punish" it by not taking it just because she doesn't like where it is? If anything, wouldn't that be more incentive to take it? Exactly, it's not the dogs fault it ended up at whichever shelter it did. Deciding to avoid a shelter because you don'tt like what the people there are doing, changes nothing for the dogs that will be there either way.
-
Every pound is a miserable existence for a dog, and keep in mind some of these "no kill" shelters are only labelled that because they pass on dogs they can't rehome to other shelters. She should choose the dog she wants and that suits her, shouldn't matter which shelter it's at.

Well, I'll respond. Firstly, I didn't say a damn thing about Aso. I said that nine hours a day in crate was too much for a giant breed pup and I didn't respond in kind when she decided to call me names. I don't crate adult dogs overnight. I get up each and every time a crated pup whines or, In my case when my elderly dogs need to go out for a pee. Last night that was three times. Frankly I don't recall the last time I had an unbroken night's sleep but that is the price you pay for living with an old dog with a weaker bladder and poor eyesight. And no, I'm not going to crate them and distress them by forcing them to pee where they sleep. I suppose this is a thinly veiled dig at those who think that crating is not an appropriate method of keeping a DOG contained during the day. I still fail to see how you can expect a pup to develop physcially when confined for this amount of time. Even baby puppies play and not much play happens in a crate. Crating is not socialising and I don't recall anyone suggesting that Aso wasn't going to socialise her pup. Thanks for that explanation of their character though. This. To answer your question I don't crate my dogs at all and when they are puppies I get up to let them out as often as they need.
