How bloody ridiculous. I just wouldn't ever live somewhere like that.

Getting back to the original topic how do they KNOW that they have a APBT and NOT an AST? is it just a case of calling what they like better? I'd guess it's whatever they're told it is when they get it, the way I see it, it doesn't matter how they know or don't know, because it's the same dog. It's what the owner wants to call it. If we want to be technical it should be called an APBT because that's what the breed started out as.
-
Not everyone who likes the APBT wants a "tough" dog or is a moron with a need to boost their ego, and saying you own one doesn't necessarily mean it's aggressive. Effectively they're the same breed so whether someone wants to call it an APBT or an AST, doesn't really matter to me Only reason they can't prove it's an APBT or that it cannot be called an APBT is due to BSL.

Puppy Swallowed Chicken Neck Whole
Dame Aussie replied to Sg1suzi's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I think chicken carcasses are the best, they're far too big to choke on, have meat attached, and you can always cut them in half for little dogs. We feed most bones frozen too, helps stop gulping. -
We're just going to end up having no dogs which were actually bred for a purpose, all we'll be left with is lap dogs
-
More BS. Why can't they all just p*ss off and let us have our dogs.

Puppy Swallowed Chicken Neck Whole

Chews are nowhere near as effective at cleaning teeth as bones. Not to mention the fact they're processed and probably full of all kinds of additives etc. As long as there is some supervision and you are sensible the benefits of feeding bones far outweighs any risk. -

What breed is he? I'd say 3 at once would be good for a small breed pup as one meal. We buy chicken legs, wings and turkey wings at the supermarket or butcher :) -

Yeah I'm sure he will be fine. As Sandra said sometimes you need to hold it till its gone to force them to slow down. I would try wings instead, too big for him to swallow whole and might teach him to chew. -
Getting close now! So excited for you Jules, I'm sure she will be everything you've dreamed of :)

Just being ignorent here, but aren't Amstaff's really Pitbulls? Not quite..there was a breed divide. Yes, one is registered, the other isnt. Look up past and present of just about every registered breed to see how many changes the show ring does to the original in the pursuit of "maintaining the standard" somehow it always seems to end up more like "improving " it out of recognition. I don't agree- if that were the case, then every unpapered American Staffordshire Terrier would be considered a banned/restricted/illegal/legal breed (depending on which state you're in) They are in Vic.

Sammy The Anti-gardener And His Big Weekend

Long legs!! He's getting big, love the toy pics too -
I don't really see a difference. Although a lot of amstaffs these days are bulkier than an APBT would be normally.
-
Just by the look of the dog, I can tell if a dog is a pit bull mix by the look of them, but then I love the breed. Obviously you can't get papered purebred ones but Amstaffs are pretty much the same dog anyway looks wise IMO
-
I don't see the problem either. Disgusting that some people would actually break the tail on purpose.

Yeah what perse said. You would know if she was in season so if not I wouldn't worry :) Glad she came back so quickly!
-
Ideally if it were me, I'd have her done while she's under for ther x rays, even if it cost more. Unless obviously, you can't afford what they quote. Can't hurt to find out what they would charge, it might not be a heap more considering she's already going to be under etc.

Oh FFS *rolleyes*

You will find that the UK Kennel Club's newest pure breed of dog, the 'Turkish Kangal' has colour as its priority. (English Kangal breeders are not au fait with basic colour genetics I guess) UK Anatolian Breed Standard UK Kangal Breed Standard The UK Kennel Club will also re-register some black masked Anatolians as UK Kangals How bizarre lilli! I thought Anatolians were accepted in every colour, same as Kangals...didn't they decide they would be referred to as the same breed or something? I can never keep up

These are the kinds of things I was thinking about. I don't have kids but I imagine if I did I would feel differently. I have a husband and other close family and I know they would be devastated if I died trying to save my dogs, however I think I'd still stay it's not because I think the dogs are more important but I know my family can look after themselves, the dogs can't so I feel responsible for them. Stans Mum said it perfectly, I couldn't live with myself thinking about them needing me to save them, and me leaving them What a depressing thread...sorry
-
I agree WnH, I honestly wouldn't know what to do in an emergency. I would just chuck them in the car and drive  I'm going to be looking into it further though in case anything should ever happen.

Whilst answering the questions on the survey in General re pets and disasters, one of them was about whether or not you would stay at home with your animals if there was no way to evacuate them in an emergency. Assuming there is an emergency and there is a way for you to evacuate safely, but it means leaving your pets behind, would you go or stay with the animals? I would stay with them and do my best to keep us all safe. I couldn't bare the thought of leaving them and something happening to them, might be stupid, but I really don't think I could go I'm interested in other peoples opinions, would you stay or go?

Was just about to say the same. If she can get the vet to take her though it the first time she will be able to do them herself. YUMMO!

Was it an iPhone pic? I find the iPhone and similar to be great at taking shots outside in natural light but very grainy indoors.
