My dog had a lump removed on Thursday but today when I checked the wound I found it like this. It has a bit of a smell (not overpowering) so I am concerned about her. I am prone to over reaction a bit when it comes to my pets hence why I thought I would take a photo and get some advice. here is the other photo I took Thanks --Lhok

You can see from my quote that is taken at 2.55pm and now the same article has been updated at 3.55pm which now states that authorities have confirmed that it is a bull terrier cross. Probably a bit of back tracking there, not unusual for that paper. Fair enough, was just putting the quote up to stop the pit bull comments. Sorry if you thought I was having a go at you I still find it horrific they keep dragging up the attack on the 4 year old who died, it must be horrible for the parents to see that everytime there is a dog attack --Lhok

article states :Authorities have confirmed the dog is a bull terrier cross, amid claims by locals they had alerted the Melton Shire to the roaming dog just before the attack, and that the same dog had previously been recaptured on the loose --Lhok

Mother Locks Herself And Five Children In Dog's Cage
Lhok replied to Chris the Rebel Wolf's topic in In The News
At the risk of being flamed, I think a lot of these type of problems arise due to people viewing pet ownership as a right and not a privilege. With this particular case there is so much about it we don't know and that in itself is a problem. I don't like the idea of governments (local or not) handing out money to people who aren't responsible pet owners. There are a few issues I see with that type of idea: One is that the person receiving the handout won't actually learn to be a responsible pet owner as it only adds to the mentality that someone else will pick up the slack and they don't have to do anything. Another is local governments budgets more then likely won't be able to cover it so it more then likely would see animal fees going up and they probably won't be able to afford that (that's even if they register the animal in the first place) and if the fees don't go up the money has to come from somewhere so it would most likely come out of road repair etc, and if that is the case then the whole community suffers due to people who aren't responsible for their pet which is unfair and causes resentment to all dog owners. --Lhok -
I often wondered why the ANKC isn't more like the AKC in it's promotion, as they have Westminster, Meet the Breeds and a whole bunch of stuff that is on fequently enough to get people more interested in the Dog world. --Lhok

As spectators my husband and I weren't too impressed with what we saw. There was no map or times to show or tell you were to go if you were looking for a particular breed so we got lost and confused. We kept asking people about the breeds we were interested in and no one could tell us/didn't care to talk to us we felt so bad for even turning up. If it hadn't of been for a lovely lady who was in the middle of grooming her Skye Terrier to give us a lend of her catalog and spoke us through it to find out what we would like to know my husband and I would have walked away. After we knew where we wanted to go we were delighted to talk to the owners of the Akitas that were there and they were even happy enough for us to have a cuddle so we eventually walked away with a positive. Also on a note re volunteering, I know this wouldn't be the case for most clubs but I have offered to help at shows before, I know I have no idea about the show scene apart from what I have seen/heard and read but nothing has come of it so I haven't bothered to follow up with anything regarding it. --Lhok

I saw that episode and was out raged at that too. I also noticed they didn't mention that if you were going to look at doing it you have to consider your use of pesticides as most would kill the fish. --Lhok

What Is The Worst Thing Your Dog Has Eaten?
Lhok replied to dubbleyoo's topic in General Dog Discussion
Mischief my Lab x has eaten one potted rose pot and all and the whole contents of the kitty litter tray when it was dirty. I also think she may have eaten some of the septic stuff that came out of the pipe when the sewer pipe in my parents backyard burst. She has also chewed through 3 chain link fences ripping the chain right off the steel posts, 5 dog beds, 5 snooza beds, 1 deck umbrella, 3 BBQ covers, 2 hammocks, 4 deck banana lounges, 1 day bed, 2 bathroom curtains, the bathtub, multiple towels, her dog run box the wooden bit and the steel mesh she also put bite marks into the moulded plastic kennel that goes into the wooden bit, 1 collaspible crate, 4 tarps and multiple times she has pulled the old pailing off the fence in order to chew them. Most of this damage though was done while she was freaking out during thunderstorms so I don't know if it counts. --Lhok editing to add that I got Mischief at 18 months and she is almost 11 -

Can I put in a pre order for your Christmas line do you have any in the spitz variety? I want to loose those last bits of weight before the rellos come over on Christmas day, it also needs to be able to a centerpiece on Christmas day so I would also like it to be programmed to sit on the table like an ice sculpture I am happy to pay for the extra training. As a side note after I have lost my weight and it has performed its centerpiece duty will it make a good backyard ornament? Or do I need a pigeon pair? --Lhok

Seriously.. It's Humans Who Wreck Dog Park Fun For Dogs
Lhok replied to W Sibs's topic in General Dog Discussion
There is a lady who walks her miniature horse along one of the off leash dog beaches around here. She gets really cranky if the dogs go anywhere near the horse not to mention the horse tries to kick and have a go at the dogs. Funny enough the dogs stay away from the full size horses that two people ride along the beach of a morning so I wonder why they go up to the mini horse. There is also a huge off lead park in town that I have seen people set up their picnic at, however that is only because the council put picnic tables in the park then put up a sign stating that you shouldn't take food into the area not sure if the signs are still up or not. --Lhok -
Flocked and facebooked it, have some people who are in vic so hopefully they will keep their eyes open for them. --Lhok

Fingers crossed they come home safe I've been concerned for both rotties since I read about this, it makes me so mad that some low life could do something like this. Was just thinking something how likely would it be that whoever stole them will split the rotties up? I don't want to cause more grief for those people trying to find them but could it be likely that it could happen? --Lhok

The LIDA system would work if vets could get the diagnoses right and also have some clue as to what breeds people have instead of only knowing a few of the popular breeds. I used to work as a vet nurse, if a rarer breed came in they would have no clue as to what it was. The Maremma pup that came in for the puppy school was written down as a White Golden Retriever even though the owner stated it was a Maremma. As to the whole standards thing I am finding this all interesting as I am only just starting to get involved with the purebred world after having cross bred dogs and I know I might have gotten unlucky but the majority of them have had some "genetic" problem like HD/ED and cataracts in young dogs. --Lhok

The advice that you should get a dog for security was given to one of my uncles. They went out and got a German Shepherd, and the kind of life that dog had was horrible. They really only treated the dog as if it was an alarm system as it never got out of the backyard and had a poor diet. As the dog died recently they were looking at getting another one to replace the dog as they don't feel secure anymore. It made me mad when I found out. Luckily though in this case they are looking at getting a better home security system and upping their insurance. --Lhok

I'll have to talk to my family member, as they said they wanted a long coat standard. But the quote you found Gaylek comes from a mini smooth breeder. Thanks for finding it out though. I really should just give up trying to help people though as they change their minds quicker then they change their undies it seems! --Lhok
