the vet has given him anti inflammation tablets... This morning he woke up and it's looking better... I think I am just being a worry wort. The redness has gone down and the side it spread to last night has almost disappeared. False alarm I think. If its not better by tomorrow afternoon I'll go and get the anti biotics that are waiting at the vet just incase. But I'm hoping that he will be ok without them.

The redness has seemed to spread to the other side of his nose - but is no longer as red, it's more pink... Any ideas? Should I be keeping him inside just incase something outside is setting him off?

I have no idea about the Wandering Jew... Wish I did. I have a feeling it was caused by a spider or bee, or some kind of insect. He seems to think he is invincible... clearly not.

Hi All, With his eye lids, the vet suspects it is because he was the runt of the litter and that they were a little under formed. He wad it worse when he was a little puppy, but now, at 1 year they arent fully fixed which is why she recommends surgery. She said that he squints sometimes and his eyes are weeping which means he is in pain apparently (although he doesnt seem to be in much pain and I've seen many dogs with weeping eyes). I will hopefully be able to get a second opinion very soon, my dogs are like my kids, so it's started to worry me, especially with the guilt trip from the vet. Oh, and the vet said that it looks like a bug has bitten him (because he seems to think its fun to chase things with stingers) and its cased a reaction.

Will invest in one ASAP... I have just got back from the vet - anti-hystermine type things to take.... They've said if it doesnt get better, she will prescribe anti-biotics, then maybe a biopsy!!! He also has curled eye lids that she checked on while he was there - he needs an $800 operation to correct them to stop him from becoming blind as because he is 1 next month, they will not get better from here... it never seems to end does it.

1120 is vet time - I hope he is ok, my poor little baby.

I did try him on some pedigree can food (just to see if he would try something newish, I dont usually feed them canned) He only had a little bit, but it may have done something. A vet might be a great help i think... I'm a worry wart. As much as it doesn't seem to be annoying him, it's annoying me.

Hi All, Pics are attached... He eats out of very hard plastic (almost like acrylic) But he has since he was 9 weeks old. Hope the pics help. This morning when he woke up (it wasnt really worse) but it was a little more moist. ???

He did have some canned food - which he only ate a little bit of.... But he hasn't been anywhere new... Should I be worried?

Hi All, I have an 11 month old pure male maltese who currently has red/swollen lips. They don't seem to be causing him any pain. His lips have little red/pink bumps over them (one is near his nose) and they kind of look like human dermatitis almost and it isn't weeping (yet) As it is not bothering him too much, I'm wondering if I should wait a few days before I take him to the vet, and also if anyone has any information on how I can treat this at home to see if it will get better on its own? I'd appreciate any information. Thanks in advance Mel

Hi Guys, I have just noticed that 11 month old male Shihtzu has a bit of a smelly bum.... Ralphy does not have a swollen bum, but when I tried to give it a wash (thought it may be some poo) it hurt him a tiny bit, but it's not stopping him from doing anything, and doesn't seem to be bothering him otherwise. The smell did not go away when I cleaned it - and now its smelling a little bit like infection. Any ideas on what it could be - I do plan on calling the vet tomorrow - But I am a worrying doggy parent and would like to know experiences now while I wait until tomorrow. Thanks in advance, Mel

Hi all, My 8 month old MalteseX Shihtzu has a lump about the size of a 10c piece near his rib cage. I automatically thought the worst and took him to the vet straight away and they took a cell from it and said that it looked fatty. Ralph is going back in two weeks to get it checked out to see if it needs to be removed. Has anyone else had any problems and been a worried as I am??? I am just a worry wort when it comes to my babies. The vet said it was abnormal because he is 8 months old, but my friend has a husky, and he has had them and he's a similar age. I think I just need something to put my mind at ease, I can't help but keep checking him and making sure he is functioning ok and playing and eating. Help please!
