THere are people in Australia who do 'international house swap' which is a little different. I am not sure how you would go with the house sitting part, guess all you can do is register. You would be better to ask this question on a house sitting forum (if there is one) as you will get a lot more information. Wishing you all the best in your travels

That's a good suggestion - have mentioned it to a few people and see what they have to say.

Apparenlty the CEO of Dogs NSW was not aware of this 'directive' !!!

What Breeds Wouldn't You Recommend For A First Time Onwer?
TrinaJ replied to aussielover's topic in General Dog Discussion
I have thought about this alot- I used to say I wouldn't recommend Rottweilers to first time owners however I have since changed my mind. A rottweiler needs space (as in yard space), constant training, to be a part of the family unit (they are a very family oriented dog), the need socilisation. If a person can dedicate the time required to spend with a rottweiler then I would have no objection in recommending one. Any dog can become distructive, generally its through boredom. These dogs require mental and physical stimulation. If you do that you will have a very happy dog and a faithful friend. Also they are awesome with children but just like any dog, shouldn't be left unattended with a child. ETA: I would also hope that I would be a good judge of character -

Well said. -
Good points Nek, I was talking to my 2's breeder this morning and said to her 'is this their way of getting around the DD laws in Victoria, what a load of BS. Its wrong to take away titles. Yes we dont get those titles here but they should not be removed from an imports title. I personally dont do schutzhund but regardless of the fact they should NOT be allowed to mess with the Pedigree of a dog
-
Those who currently have these titles have word bloody hard to gain them. I feel sorry for them, its unjust. The ANCK can and will do what they like, FFS they even refuse to provide the FCI Breed Standard for the Rottweiler in its entirity. We had to push to get them to include the extended breed standard and even then they still insist on on ADDING to the FCI standard a description of a docked tail, so our Breed Standard is not authentic!
-
The ANKC recognised these tiles for years, now all of a sudden decide, without any discussions with Clubs decide to remove them....that is wrong.
-
Think you missed this part of the post... Schutzhund titles such as SCH & IPO previously added to the ANKC database will be removed
-
On the dogs Victoria website... Schutzhund The ANKC has issued a directive that Schutzhund titles obtained in other countries by dogs imported into Australia will not be added to the ANKC database at the time of reregistration. Schutzhund titles such as SCH & IPO previously added to the ANKC database will be removed. SCH, IPO & other similar titles are a form of attack training and the ANKC does not recognise these titles or discipline. :

I voted NO to both.

Flaves, I was always under the same impression. My personal opinion is that as the tail is an extension of the vertebre that it would be a spinal malformation that caused it.....could be wrong, probably am, but I, like Rakaaz, will never introduce it into my breeding. A Rottweiler is soooooooooooooo much more than its tail. Shmoo, my I ask why you are considering a NBT rather than a tailed rottweiler? From what I am hearing around the place if you are intending to show it, under a specialty judge in the next few years you more than likely wont be considered for a CC . Yes you may get a Ch title in AB's (a lot of judges cannot judge a tail because of the incorrect tail set outlined in the breed standard publicised by the ANKC, even though thtye have been told to change it and it was brought up at the AGM :D ) as they cannot see past the bloody tail! My advise to you, buy a tailed rottweiler by a COE member of a Rottweiler Club and make sure both sire and dam comply with the state club's breeding criteria (ie. hip dysplasia, eye and mouth certification and that both parents are of breeding age). You will find some excellent breeder here in the Rottie Thread (some of the most experienced have even posted before me - speak to them, they may even have litters comming up).

Unfortunately I cant have those pretty beaded collars and leads with my Rottweilers so I use Brass Fur Savers with a brown leather lead. I have seen some gorgeous leather collars that I would love to buy that are made in Kenya that would look awesome on them (but not for showing, for showing its the fursavers).

Sticky Situation! Puppy Sold On Limited Register
TrinaJ replied to Partipaws's topic in Breeders Community
Just wondering how you went with your puppy people? Hopefully they will take up your offer to desex their boy. If DNA parentage becomes mandatory it would alleivate the shonky 'breeders' falsifying who the stud dog is on their pedigrees. I know they are talking about it in Victoria. I have DNA profiled my boy, girl will be done at next vacc. If buying a puppy I would expect that the parentage of my puppy to be that of the pedigree. -

OMG.... my thoughts and prayers go out to Jed and her family. It does not surprise me to read that she went back into the burning home to try and rescue her dogs...she has always appeared to be a selfless woman who would move heaven and hearth for her animals. I pray to God that she will recover. Steve, I have made my donation rip beautiful puppies... Trina -
