Is there any plants around that she may have had a chew on. Sometimes this can cause excessive saliva, especially if they are allergic to them, or if the plant is on the danger list.

That is so so sad No, tomorrow the world won't be as bright for you. It's so hard, and I feel for you.

We bought a really good bed for her to have for herself in the lounge room. Then as it was curb side clean up time, we got rid of the lounge she was so interested in. Problem solved. (it was an old lounge and we were planning on throwing it out anyway). There was nothing in this space for a little while, and in that time she came to love her bed so much that now we have a new little lounge she is not as interested. For some reason, she never took notice of the other lounge that we all sat on, it was just this particular lounge. My OH invites her up sometimes, but as soon as we say "off" she jumps off. Every now and then she goes through periods where she is interested in the new little lounge that was in the same spot as the previous one, and I just put some pots and pans on there so she cant get up. She gets the message real quick.

Yeast infection possible. Don't over clean the ears as I've been told it can make matters worse. You may end up needing to get some drops from the vet to clear it up. Our dog has had it twice recently, and it is very common. Is your dog shaking head or scratching at all?

Thanks vjb, do you know what the name of the powder was? As usual I am far more worried than Ruby is!!!! But good to know of a similar situation that turned out all fine...she'll be shattered at limited exercise though! OK, the powder is called "EDP - antiseptic first aid powder". We were amazed at how quickly it dried her wound up, as, on inspection it seemed quite deep. We didn't bother with bandaging, but I guess that would depend on how necessary it is to do that. We did have to be careful when she decided to run on concrete (as much as trying to keep her quite!!), as this would sometimes make it start bleeding again. When this happened, we would put some more powder on it. I would say in 10 days she'll be fine without limping..... a long 10 days. We were lucky that when it happened to Heidi we had a run of heat wave days which kept her quieter initially.

When Heidi cut her paw on an oyster shell, there was a lot of blood. I was so worried, rang the vet and they suggested a surgical powder from the chemist. We did that for a few days and kept an eye on her and limited exercise as she had a limp. Within about 10 days she was fine. Vet told us to just keep an eye on signs of infection. Hope she'll be ok. The powder worked a treat... especially with drying the wound. It was easy to put on as we did this when she was asleep morning, noon and night.

Yeah, I heard the raspberry cordial works wonders, but haven't tried it myself... on the dog I mean.

Poor Hamlet. I can understand your concerns. Heidi recently had a gastro thing, and ended up going from mustard poo to fluro orange. She's been on medication which quickly fixed the problem, but of course we are real close to vets around here. I do hope you will get some rest. At least he is drinking, which will prevent dehydration. Let us know in the morning how the night went.

RIP Teddy. She sounds like a lovely girl. You will miss her, and I'm glad she left peacefully.

I bought a snuggle safe for my dog last winter when she was just a pup and it is great. Stays warm for at least 10 hours. Only problem is that it is hard...... and I like to use it myself.

Retraining A Fear From A Trama
VJB replied to borzoimom's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
How interesting. I will keep this in my memory in case of any fearful experiences with my dog. Hopefully not an electrocution though. :D -
korrupt = jason = GSDmommy = ?????? if so, this person really really needs a life! OMG..... here we go again..... is it really.....mmm I wonder. Unusual user name ?.... Take your dog to the vet, for peace of mind, your dog is now dependent on you to provide it a happy and healthy life, all which sometimes costs money. Don't forget to post some pic's of your new dog. You will get lots of advice here. Good luck.

Yes they do donate blood. If only they knew the good deed they are doing.... hope so.

How horrible. My heart drops and I feel pain when I think of dogs being hurt in any way. Glad someone was around when it happened, poor old doggy. Also glad you have a mighty quick ranger too. Keep us updated. It's probably all a bit "raw" for now and your emotions about the whole "what if's" are going to play on your mind tonight, but you absolutely did the right thing, without a doubt.

I don't think it's necessary to remove any of the bones. They just mash up and are really soft. I half a tin to my dog about twice a week, mixed in with her kibble and she loves them.

I have a bed made by a company called Barka Parka. They are expensive, but my dog loves her bed, and it should last a dogs lifetime and beyond. If I remember correctly, they also have covers that can be made for incontinence problems, and are easily washed and dried. It depends on whether you want to spend that much though.

This is very sad news RIP gorgeous dogs.

My heart just broke reading what happened to your girl. RIP ..... Your in-laws must be feeling horrible too. HUGS to all of you.

Yes it is true, but I wouldn't rush to the vet if your dog only ate 1 smartie off the floor. They need a certain amount to be affected, and it depends on your dogs weight. We once left out easter eggs from the easter bunny, and our dog had a lovely mid-night feast in the loungeroom..... cream eggs everywhere. This resulted in a early morning phone call to the emergency vet who gave me info on how many grams our dog had eaten. Onions are toxic to dogs, so you need to be careful on any "leftovers" you give to your dog.

Beautiful memories for you. Gone too soon,.. but a very happy life by the looks of it. Lovely tribute.

How Can I Get My Puppy To Go On Walks With Me?
VJB replied to fishy fishy's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
How old is your puppy? If you've only had him for 2 days, maybe he his overwhelmed with the outside world at this stage. -
We paid $800 to have a tooth removed from our old girl about 2 years ago.

I will continue to feed meals twice a day, morning and night. I guess it depends on what works for individual people.
