  1. One of the vets I go to has a resident cat. Doesn't bother me - she generally stays in the back room anyway. The closest I've seen her is lying on the scanner behind the desk where she can't be seen by any of the patients. It REALLY pings me off when people bring cats in in their arms. Makes you think about their driving habits too, having a loose cat in the car. Bianca is "interested" in strange cats, but she's generally well behaved so no dramas. We always used a cat cage for our cats - I would have thought the cat would be more comfortable in a cage with strange dogs around anyway.
  2. Sorry to hear of your loss. Run free big boy, young again.
  3. Rest easy Bruce, hugs to TS and family.
  4. I don't know if this would work with a boxer, but my grey hated the collar, so I added a piece of plastic to the front of her plastic cat muzzle so she couldn't put her tongue forward thru the muzzle to lick her wound (she had a toe off). It only needed a small piece, cut out of the lid of an icecream container, then zip clipped onto the muzzle. The rest of it was very open so she could still drink. The plastic also has holes in it. It could have even been smaller b/c she never worked out how to lick around it! It doesn't stop them using the muzzle to scratch tho. Bianca never tried that, so the muzzle was a success. Here's a pic of it.
  5. RIP Barney, hugs to you Mrs T
  6. Lovely story. Rest peacefully Patch.
  7. Bianca will walk back down the back yard path from her bedtime wee, stop half way, and peer into the trees bordering the yard. Gives me the heebie jeebies, even tho I know it's probably possums she's looking for. She doesn't do anything else usually. Also, why do some dogs insist on going RIGHT up the back of the yard to wee? Bianca will walk out until she's JUST out of the range of the back verandah light, then squat. I can only see a bit of shadow in the gloom. I can't always see if she's done anything, and, b/c I'm afraid of the dark, be damned if I'm going out for a look.
  8. Lincoln got my vote. We had two dogs with an American theme (mountains). Chapparelle, shortened to Chappa and pronounced Shappa, and Rocky.
  9. So sorry for your loss. RIP Fraser, run pain free.
  10. Signed and link forwarded. Sure my sister will have something poisonous to say on the petition comment.
  11. Sorry, I see there's a thread re all this in "In The News".
  12. He's just said that ANY fighting dog breeds should be banned. So all you english staffy owners, shar pei owners etc, better get rid of your dogs b/c Neil said so. Idiot.
  13. Neil Mitchell, carrying on from Ross & John this morning, is carrying on a hate campaign on 3AW this morning due to the "pit bull" attacks where a man had his hand held by the dog for over 20 mins. Wouldn't let go until euth. Also a dog killed, dog injured, and cat killed. The Pit Bull Owners Association (whoever they are) has done a runner and do not want to be interviewed, after initially agreeing to do so. Anyway, if anyone is interested in Melbourne... He's obviously talking about other stuff too, so you might need to wait for more info if you switch on. ETA: edited to clarify title.

  18. Stuff it, went out and bought one - the one that looks like a gun out of Star Trek (there was a picture of it here, but it's gone now). Haven't had time to try it yet, but will have to get the dog used to it first anyway.
  19. I'll sell you mine if you like, it's been used once LOL Hey Sas, if you really want to get rid of it, tell us more... might be interested. ETA: I'm assuming you mean a dremel, not a pedi paws LOL

  22. Had to laugh at this. When sister was being "vetted" for suitability for the first of her current rotties, she went to visit the home of the sire. The breeder (and dam) were in NSW, and she was going to see them too, but the sire was in VIC and she was invited to see him and some of his progeny at the sire's owner's home. Sister got there and was immediately swamped by several rotties, including one lovely bitch who climbed up into her lap, much to her delight! Sis was OKd for a puppy, and found out later that if she'd not liked the lap excursion, the sire's owner would have suggested she wasn't suitable. Everything worked out fabulously, and she now also owns a later born sister to the original.
  23. Run free Jenny, rest peacefully. So sorry for your loss ST.
