  1. And to keep you dreaming - here is one of the top winning sibes in the US over the past couple of years - BISS Ch. Alpine's Carte Blanche WPD Or i could very well have the opposite - a black Siberian
  2. I'll let you know if we ever breed one - lots of white dogs behind ours. But to date we are cursed and have only managed to breed black and white ones ;) I'm really lusting to have a lovely show quality piebald!
  3. And often we have the extended family regurgitating for the babies as well - its not just mum who wants to help the pups out :D
  4. Its her way of trying to feed/provide for her puppies - especially if you managed to dry up her milk.
  5. Best in Show was Cougar - Ch Icepower The Benchmark Sniper won BIG yesterday at vic womens. Good weekend for the sibes
  6. I've had bitch who was mega fussy - she literally stopped eating around the 4 week stage, and barely had anything from there on in. The first litter she absorbed, the second she carried to term. We tried everything under the sun with her. Nutrigel was a god send (often shoved down her throat). Another thing the vet recommended to us was Blackmores Executive B Stress tablets. These have alot of the nutrients the body will need, plus should help stimulating her appettite. These were given on her second litter which she carried to term :p
  7. I'd love to know the place too I really want the purple one with paw prints that clean run sells, but i can't justify the shipping costs lol
  8. That is alot! were there any complications during surgery? Apart from an overly long time to find the retained testicle - not that we are aware of. If they screwed something up, and are trying to palm off the extra costs on the owner - well thats highly unethical. This was a pure and simple money grab on an unsuspecting pet person bringing their first dog in to be desexed. I have consulted with a number of vets after this, and they are all shocked at the price. Believe me we will be pursuing this further. And in the future all our pet puppies will be coming back to our vets to be desexed. I feel sick that someone has been taken advantage of life this.
  9. ...and this is why it's so important to purchase your puppy from a responsible ethical registered breeder! And do you research. Did you friend meet this breeders adult dogs? Did they see the rest of the litter, did they interact with the pups before purchasing their puppy? Sadly it sounds like your friend is in for some hard yards ahead to get this pup socialised. Tough for both your friend and the pup. So very sad. Siberians should be social creatures - they can be reserved yes, but never frightened. Our 6 week old pups experienced a new environment and new people on the weekend and took it all in their stride - acting like the kings and queens of the world that they are!
  10. And if you want to hear the ridiculous - we just had one of our pet people get ripped off totally. Approx 20kg dog, with one retained testicle - and the vet charges them $1275 I am horrified at this price - makes me sick to think vets can rip people off like this.
  11. Sibes in general love company - if this young dog gets along with your old girl, why not give it a shot. However - you may run into problems if your not willing to let the second one sleep inside, they are pack dogs - and to have the rest of the pack inside at night while they are left outside might not go down to well lol I don't see why a second sibe would be too much inside though - they don't really need that much space.
  12. We did our last litter - i think it was Day 2, and the vet did them.
  13. That would be Charlene Fisher - Illahee Siberians. Well at least she won opposite aus bred last year at our champ show
  14. Some sections definitley had no public access. We were at the back of B block and there was no public access. Really you couldn't have the public wander down there as there is not enough room for there to be a barrier between the benches and the public. Looking at the blocks in the bottom section i would say they were blocked off for the same reason.
  15. Just had to say - yippee - we won with our clown Mol!
  16. Excellent article! I totally relate to this quote. I have a bitch who is a "stand out" from the crowd....and we are always facing exactly what this article describes. The frustration is immense, and so is the disapointment.
  17. The best way is with a wide tooth comb and hard work! You need to part the coat and comb, make sure your combing from the base. It's not good enough to just wave a brush over the top of a coat. And to cut work time down, invest in a dryer. A dryer will blow alot of the loose coat out, and then you can get down to working out the rest with a comb. A good grooming session would involve the following. Blow out the coat Bath Blow dry dog/blow out coat Comb A final blow out If you could invest in doing this while the dog is majorly shedding you will really get on top of that coat.
  18. Thats your dog, and he's showing his enjoyment of the ring - let him. I would say the other woman has to harden up! I've had it before, and had the glares from others, usually in the in show line up - for some reason they don't appreciate our naughty dogs! I've got a couple of very vocal and bouncy Siberians - i let them have fun and enjoy themselves. As long as your dog is showing himself off, a well placed bark here or there, or chat, can work in your favour - look on it as your dog is saying to the judge, hey over here!!! I do understand the frustrations though - i have an older boy who is a ratbag, the kind where the judges always look surprised when they find out how old he is, and give me the look like "he should know better by now"! Once of his naughtiest performances was at a specialty last year under a world renouned breed specialist, it was a huge class, which was actually split to be judged. He barked he bounced he carried on, unless he had food in his mouth - he even barked in the judges face. I could have crawled under the nearest rock. The judge laughed at him. He made the cut in the first group, so we went back in, then he made the second cut - and he's still barking and bouncing and i'm fractically gesturing for people to get me more food so i could shut him up! He then makes the third cut and is standing in the middle of the ring - still acting the fool... The bugger of a dog placed fourth in that class - how i still don't know! He was barely still the whole time he was in the ring hehehe....
  19. I'd be curious to know how long people were involved in their breed before they started breeding. For example I have been involved in my breed for almost 12 years - yet my first litter only occured 2 years ago.
  20. You can have them desexed as early as 8 weeks. I must admit we have not done one of ours so young as of yet, but i wouldn't hesitate to do it if i had any doubts. For our puppy buyers purchasing pets, we instead ask for a security payment which is refunded upon proof of desexing, or alternatley we will arrange for the pup to be desexed at our vets. This has worked out really well so far with the pups we have bred.
  21. I often find you weed out alot of the "wanna breeds" by simply saying that the puppy will be desexed before it leaves. Word of mouth through other breeders, friends and previous puppy buyers, having an online presence, being listed with your local breed clubs, these are the usual methods through which we find our puppy buyers. Good luck with your litter - puppies are always exciting!
  22. Yup - sure will be, with my whole crew of black and white bastards Ok so i lie, i might have one or two dark greys in the mix.
  23. At least you can now positively link the dog to her
  24. They are around - but it's not a case of being able to do a breeding an assure people that that is what you are going to get. If the breed is right for you, and your willing to wait i'm sure you will be able to get one. BUT don't make blue eyes a silver coat your priority. Your priority should be a well bred puppy from a reputable breeder. And these breeders don't breed for coat colour, don't put different prices on "rare" colours etc... Personally - give me dark brown eyes any day!
