  1. Oh wow, my first nasty snipe. Didn't judge at all dearie.. only an opinion... I have never bred dogs, only bought them from breeders.
  2. That just sounds so totally nuts and controlling to me! And so this happens a lot?? Run, not walk away from this I reckon! That is so bizarre and vaguely horrifying to use your pet, that you responsibly want to sterilize, in this fashion.
  3. Heaps of good ideas here. I just wanted to add, in case your neighbour goes postal on you, is DOCUMENT RECORD DOCUMENT dates and times of actions and what was said. For example, when the problem first occurred, what conversation was had with the neighbour, when the problem next occurred after your proactive contact to resolve etc etc. You will probably need to inform not only the bad parent owner but your whole street that you will be trapping. It puts the wind up the bad pet owners if nothing else to keep their puds in at night! We have a pet yowler ourselves and he IS sterilized so neutering/speying does not always fix that unfortunately. (And yes, he is contained every night). Sterilization reduces the likelihood of midnight serenades beneath your window, but is not a sure fire fix. Your local cat rescue might assist with the loan of a trap. This will also indicate that you wish no harm on the cat because lets face it, if you take it to the pound, it will most likely to be killed when unclaimed.
  4. What a smart pooch! Now to train him how to find the cordless phone, car keys, remotes etc. :D
  5. Not that I am a dog owner but the Bullmastiff is "our" family breed too. How could anyone do that... they're less than pondscum. :D
  6. Awful. Can only be vigilant like the lady who reported it was, and to make the call to both store security and the police.
  7. OMG, some days the fruit loop factory have loose security at the gates. Perhaps she will do something to the next poor person with a witness about.
  8. Visitors to the house, particularly to "events" or "sleepovers" need to ask if any extra bods area allowed to come with them, whether that be dogs, kids or manbags!! I am glad someone mentioned the husband thing... I can imagine the reaction I'd get if I turned up with my husband in tow to most of the things that I do. :D And my husband IS a good sport about taking my children to their events and parties when I'm working or otherwise busy - sometimes, the only man there! ;) We have acreage and the assumption can be that it is okay to bring your dog along with you to run and roam free. Not so; we have kangaroos for example. We set people straight on this one. Their dog is welcome but it must remain on a leash or be put in an enclosure. Applies to kids too ... it is not okay at our place to have children wandering around unattended, it is simply not safe. Likewise, I have a friend who pales every time she sees my three year old (well behaved) daughter when I drop off my eldest for playdates. I don't ever stay for coffee as the mere presence of a toddler can make some people tetchy. I respect that. She has a jumpy bouncy Lab that of course has the run of its own house and when I send my older child there, it's with that knowledge. I do agree with the general opinion of your house, YOUR rules. If you've invited your friends around though with their kids, it won't kill you to put your dogs outside for a few hours. If you've organized a nice dinner for the grown ups, it won't kill your friends to shell out for a babysitter either.
  9. Oh that poor baby. Let's hope he has a speedy recovery though looking at that level of emaciation, it is hard to imagine.
  10. That father is going to beat himself up for what happened for the rest of his life and if she is worth her salt, so will his partner. Both my children are runners. My youngest, almost four, is not quite out of that habit yet. They are skinny gazelles who can nick off down the aisle of Blockbuster and be out the door before you know it. That child should not have been left unattended. Watching from the corner of your eye in the mirror as your hair is being cut is not adequate supervision in a work place possessing such dangerous things as stated in previous posts. I have witnessed a toddler pick up a tray of bleach and sink her FACE in it while the mother was having her head shampooed. Off to emergency with wet hair went that mother! I feel for the little girl, I feel for the father and also the dog, who should have been left alone to eat in peace and not be put in such a situation.
