  1. I have a almost 12 week old Cavalier puppy. Her eyes get a clear gooey discharge, she had this since I got her. She has more on some days than others. I took her to the vet who checked her eyes and he said they were fine. It's not red, she doesn't seem bothered by them at all. I've been cleaning her eyes (or the outside of them) every day or second day with some salt water (as recommended by the vet). I thought it was going away but when I got home there was quite a bit of discharge in the corner of her eye. Does anybody know what this might be? Should I be worried or take her to the vet again? Both her ears were a little inflamed as well. He treated her for ear mites with Revolution. I was worried because her ears became smelly so she is also getting an ointment that is antibacterial, antifungal and some cortisone to help. How long does Revolution take to work if it is ear mites? Her ears still seem itchy because she's scratching at them every now and then. She also bites at her front paws and she appears a little itchy. I'm not sure if she's allergic to something. I've give her one bath with Aloveen that I got from the vet and I rinsed it all out. She's eating puppy Advance for breakfast and lunch and for dinner she gets some chicken mince with fresh veggies like carrot. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks!
  2. I'm not really sure. The vet examined her anal glands and said they are fine. So I'm not really sure. Should I go back to the vet?
  3. I posted in the Health section and then thought maybe this is a puppy problem. Hope it's ok to post here too! :D I got a CKCS puppy 2 days ago. Since I got her she's been scooting on her bottom. I took her to the vet who checked her. Anal glands find, no prolapse. It looks like a small part of her anus is poking out (like 1mm). The vet gave an cream to apply, to settle the inflammation. I have been applying the cream and I stop her scooting if I see her do it. I'm still a little bit worried. Anybody with a similar experience? Thanks!

  5. My mum's little dog was diagnosed with Addison's. Her medications were changed on a regularly basis. My mum had to determine how she acted, especially her depression, to adjust her dose acordingly. It did help her a lot and kept her with us for another 2.5 years. But she has been waiting at rainbow bridge for us since last month. Although she had other problems as well. All the best with your dog. It can be managed quite well.
  6. Thanks for all the good replies. I'm not sure why the puppy won't be registered. I asked and I was told it's because she doesn't want pet owners breeding with the puppy. I explained that I only want the puppy on limited registration (no showing or breeding). I since found out, if pups aren't registered within a certain time frame they can't then be registered. (Please correct me if I'm wrong). I feel better going with the puppy that will be registered because the breeder seems better and all health testing, socialisation etc will be done.
  7. I'm in a bit of a dilemma. I've been struggling to find the Cavalier I've been looking for, after putting my name on a few waiting lists I got a pup in my state. The breeder is registered but the pup won't be. I was so excited to find a breeder in my area that I put a deposit on as they can't keep the pup without it. I was going to look at them next week. Just today I got a message another breeder is keeping a pup for me but this one is in a neigbouring state. This pup will be registered. My main concern is to make the best choice, especially considering the health of the puppy. There is quite a price difference due to travel but other than that it's mainly the registration difference. Do breeders give you back the deposit if you decide to no longer take the puppy? Thanks for any ideas or suggestions.
