Hi all - I have a 9 week old G.R puppy, and I am trying to let her practice having a lead on her collar around the house, only prob is she sits down and wants to chew it. Any suggestions on how to minimise this behaviour. This afternoon I gave her a toy to play with at the same time to try to take her mouth and mind off the lead. Am I on the right track? Cheers Lisa

I have just brought our new GR pup home from the breeder - and she is on all sorts of goodies - INCLUDING cottage cheese and yogurt. Our puppy - who we have also named Ruby, is also on a diet of raw mince, dry food, rice, weetbix, puppy milk, chicken necks - all depends on the time of day as to what is offered. Good luck!

I've just been to visit Southern Ob Club. They have Agility classes I believe. They are located near the end of the freeway- just off Springvale road. HTH?

At Woofpurnay Vet in Narre Warren. Thanks for that. I'll look into it. So far, the vets around here haven't had a class that is running at the right times... ie in age.

When I trained my last puppy, I went to Croydon and diistrict Dog Ob Club.Enjoyed our time there over a period of five years . However I have since moved to Patterson Lakes, and have found myself looking for a new Obed. club closer to home. We have a Golden R. arriving in a few weeks. :p Does anyone have a recommendation to a club. I am also keen to try my hand at clicker training. Is this offered at a particular club? Thanks for your advice.

I have just loved reading all this Lab puppy talk. My last dog was a black lab who passed away Aug last year. we had 14 wonderful years with her! BUT for the first 6-7 years she was the busiest, happiest, get into everythingiest dog around. One year she won a trophy at the dog club for "having the wagiest tail" LOL. We kept her i our laundry for the fist 8 weeks or so at night, then she moved into her kennel. The weather was warmer in Nov which made it easier. Like children, one day the wees inside just stoppe.d. And it was fairly quick to happen. So fingers crossed for you .... Lisa

Thanks for all of this information! My last puppy was a lab - and we didn't know about puppy schools then - even though we had gone to two KCC puppy plays at the show grounds. Ended up waiting until sasha was 6 mths before starting basic obedience training. I REALLY like the sound of clicker trainig ( no pun intended LOL). Once we get our golden R pup in six weeks - I will be trying it out for sure. Lisa
