What a DAY!!!! FAR OUT I havent felt SO COLD or WET and miserable in a long long time! AND I was undercover! It rained all day long without stopping even for a second, the ground has turned into a giant swamp with so many people walking on it, that its just awful! I showed in my raincoat and thought stuff it! My poor little pointer girls were both sopping wet by the time group was over. I think Gypsy was just greatful to be able to get back into the car! And my dogs LIKE the rain!!! Thanks god for short haired breeds is all I can say!!!! Some more gp 3 results minor irish puppy irish Aust bred Wire haired Dont know the others, wasnt watching properly!! I think the rain got into my eyes!!!!! LOL -
Hey Gumnut, Just going through a similar process with my OH (handy to have a handy OH isnt it??!) we bought an OLD toledo on ebay which had a rusted out chassis, so he has completely rebuilt the chassis and most of the "lid" if that makes sense. He also fully designed the thing on as cadd graphics progam at home so got all of the measurements "just so". Hes a bit of a perfectionist! LOL Ask your man to put some rust proffing paint on the steel sections, or use galvanised steel which will stop corosion. Also do take into regard the size of your trailer remembering that 6x4's dont have to be registered in VIC, and those which do I wonder if you'd need a compliance cert? Though if your man is an engineer this probably wouldnt be hard to get?? Theres like a million thinsg that we've discussed regarding the "rebuild" (or should I say, start from scratch! LOL). We're going to purchase new flooring and paint everything down this weekend. The frame is ready to rock and roll. You will need a supply shop like Carac (I think its called!! LOL) for all of the metal skin etc etc. I think you could consider things like checker plate flooring if you're not concerned about heat as already mentioned?? Also, on purchase of the trailer the front panel (you know right behind your car) was all dented from stones, so perhaps ask him to put aluminium checkplate there to prevent damage from stones? We will be You could probably do that for the rear too. Things like placement of the spare tyre too could be a factor if you're short for space. Ours was originally on the A frame of the trailer, but I think hes decided to bolt it to the rear giving more room for a large tak box on the front. Hope this is kinda helpful If youd like I can take some photos of it in the state its in now?

Right! LOL Just finished speaking with Bruce (lLOVELY man!) and basically, no nothing bar umbrellas, but there are some undercover areas (as already mentioned earlier which if you get to early enough will be sufficient. Sounds like I'm getting up before the crack of fart! PS. He did mention to bring your raincoats too!! -

Far out! Didnt realise it was so terrible... And I'm comming from Berwick!!!! So whats the crack of farts for me?! LOL Like 3am???! LOL Thanks for the number I'll give him a call and see what I find out. Its just it will be pointless going if I cant even keep myself dry let alone the dogs (lucky I've got a short haired breed! Wash and drip dry really!) It would be silly in a thunder storm/rain/hail not to be able to at least erect some kind of shelter. Will let everyone else know what I find out. -

Is there a number that we can call as far as show secretary goes? I've just looked on the forecast again (for the 10th time today!!! LOL) and it says HAIL and thunder!!! Are we seriously not allowed to bring any form of cover other than a crappy umbrella which is likely to fly off in high winds? There must be some way to compromise? What about just like a shade sail type thing??? Can you tell I'm a bit worried??! LOL -

FRIDAY show Group 1 117 Group 2 118-150 Group 3 151-242 Group 4 243-278 Group 5 279-360 Group 6 361-423 Group 7 424-490 I also have a question for those who have attended in the past. I read in the gazette that there are no gazebos/tents allowed on the grounds. I know that its going to be a very wet weekend, whats happened in the past??? How are we meant to keep ourselves and doggies dry? Would there be an exception for poor weather or is there some shelter? Cheers -
Thanks guys ;) I didnt think to look at the vic dogs webpage )

Does he wear the coat when you are around him?? Or does he only wear the coat when you put him in the crate to sleep?

I put in that my dog had had cruciate ligament surgury and specifically asked about if the other leg would be covered, they said it would be and there are no exclusions on his insurance form. Insured with medibank.

Dogs Victoria Wanting To Take More Decisions From Breeders.
marinapoint replied to Steve's topic in Breeders Community
Hmmm, there is no pointer club in VIC. Wonder where they got 18mths from???? Although 18mths is a good figure I think. I'm guessing its just come across from the GSP club? -
Yep Lea does run the training, it starts at 7.30 (i think!) and its $11. You'll need to bring a vacc cert to join in the first time. Give her a call and she'll give you any further info.

Help With Breed Selection (formerly: Gsp Vs. English Pointer)
marinapoint replied to Joel's topic in General Dog Discussion
Again I'm going to back up my other pointer owner/lovers here, ALL of my dogs, with the exception of my puppy who is still learning, have excellent recall. My bitch Aida, doesnt range at all, never has, never will. She prefers to go walkies with me, and sticks to me like Ashanali's Sunni. She is super keen on birds, but as soon as you call her she turns around and comes straight back. My boys are excellent, though he is more inclinded to run further away from me, but again ALWAYS returns when hes called. Won't discuss puppy as shes still learning!! Sometimes shes great, othertimes the distraction is too exciting to ignore. But she is only 9mths old. If you would like to look into puppies, go onto the puppy page of the pointer breed profile and look there, there actually are quite a few advertised. As far as your choice in sex goes, I'd probably recommend a dog, even though I've never had issues with 2 bitches. Pointers generally dont seek conflict so agression between sexes isnt common. Alternativly I can give you some details of some pointers breeders in SA if you PM me. -
Help With Breed Selection (formerly: Gsp Vs. English Pointer)
marinapoint replied to Joel's topic in General Dog Discussion
Ok so I've got to add to this discussion!! LOL Being a Pointer (The English variety for clarities sake) owner/lover/exhibitor/breeder (at the very end!!) I can't reccomend them more! Pointers arent known as the aristocats of the dog breed for nothing. They are GORGEOUS to live with, they are calm when meeting new people (ie dont jump all over new guests/people out in the park) and get excited for no good reason (dont get me wrong, you put the right thing in front of them and they DO get excited!) They arent AS outgoing and super out there as the GSP's in my experience. They are easy going but dont put their paw print all over you when you are out and about if this makes sense. They tend to be easier to manage, although in my experience not as food driven as the GSP's. They are sooky and loving and love it best when they are curled up next to you in the bed getting attention. The GSP's a more a utility dog (ie all rounder) as far as field work goes, pointers are a dedicated pointing breed. Although having said that, whoever said they cant be taught to retrieve was wrong. They are happy to retrieve although this is not what the breed was originally bred for. They were bred for the aristocracy who had 100s of dogs and took pointers out to point, and retrievers out to retrieve. Having had experience with both breeds to some extent, pointers in general are laid back, chillaxed and easy going. GSP's are way more full on than pointers! LOL Dont get me wrong though, BOTH breeds have a superb temperament. Great for family's and both are quite trainable. I would definently say, pointers are the undiscovered breed. They are actually becomming more popular as people realise their excellent potential as house pets. Drool factor: well that depends on the dog! Some like SB said will drool more than others. Our boy here tends to drool when it comes to food (hes very food motivated now that I've said that GSP's are more food motivated than pointers!! LOL) but otherwise they dont. Depends on the dog really. If you are ever in the Melbourne area and would like to come and meet any of my dogs, feel free. I also attend shows here. Alternatively you can check out my webpage www.marinapointpointers.com and you can see some of the dogs there. -
Our litters were 11 9 12 (one passed on day 2) so 11 Havent culled and wouldnt do so in the future. We didnt have too many problems other than mum needing TONNES of food and water! And then the resulting amount of poo! LOL They were all wonderful mothers, never had any problems with puppies and mothers. All the very best with your brood!

LOL Well the funny one with the ears going everywhere is Max (he is owned by the lady Dale, the lady he was doing bounces with!) His sister is Rose, shes the girl with not much ticking, so shes kinda white with a big patch on her bum!) Rose and Obi are both owned by Wesley Obi is the orange boy other than Roki! Then the last girls that you wont know what Aida, shes the liver girl heavily ticked who likes lots of cuddles and spent most of her day wondering between people who would cuddle her! Gypsy is the orange girl who has lots of photos with a ball in her mouth!!!! Probably because most of the time the ball WAS in her mouth! Both of the girls are owned by me ;)
