I really think it was sizing Secret up, perhaps it had already decided she was too big, but it was certainly looking intently at her. There are no food scraps here, the whippets eat everything vaguely food like.

Not being a breeder myself but because I'm very interested and looking into becoming one some day, provided Mr Fat's only fault is that he's too big for the standard, couldn't he be mated with a stunning bitch who is smaller than the standard? From what I've been reading about finding good breeding matches aiming to even out size by using one larger and one smaller seems like a good thing to do. Regardless of that, you must be super proud of this litter. They're all absolute darlings and stunners!!! This is very likely although you dont actually get many that are smaller than the standard. You can get small bitches but they're usually still within the standard. Roskyle has some lovely little girls.

I just heard one really close and went to check, Secret was sitting in the doorway hesitant to go out, and I'm glad because the damn thing was sitting on the fence looking at her. She's over 2 kilos now so I'm hoping way too heavy for a crow or raven to carry off but I wonder if it was thinking it might just be able to tackle her on the ground and eat her there. What ever, this is one of the reasons I keep her locked indoors when I have to go out. I daren't leave her with access to outside when I'm not home.

I can't bear to put a price on them either :) I owe them everything. I dont normally do it, I dont begrudge my animal family at all. I had a reason for doing it which I wont go into, but I was shocked when I had to add it all up.

I agree. My old girl Feather will turn 14 next week and she doesn't know it but I'm ramping up our tradition of roast chicken dinner for dogs birthdays to roast TURKEY!!!!! I did buy the turkey at Christmas and it was only $16 and should feed all of us for a few days so it's not as extravagant as it sounds. :laugh:

I wondered myself, I have 3 ageing whippets and had an old horse. I was taking the dogs to an osteopath as well which is included. I'm hoping it wont be so expensive this year.

Have you ever added up what your pets cost you over a normal year, that's not through a major injury or illness. I did and I was shocked. I thought they were sending me broke and I was right. My vets bills over the last 12 months have amounted to $3787 (that's over $10 per day). That was 4 dogs (I now have 5) and an old horse, and does include the house call to euthanise my beautiful mare. All the other costs such as farrier, dentist, horse feed, the backhoe to dig her grave and dog food, registrations with council, multiple dog permit, Dogs Vic rego haven't been included. It's not for the faint hearted

beautiful photos, of both the beach and red soil country. I've never been to the West but your photos make me want to go. The bike is a great idea, it looks like flat country. You could carry a bit on little panniers and have yourselves a lovely day out there.

I never did see Neko pass those 2 placentas but as it has been months now and she is fine then I assume she got to them discreetly and cleaned them up without me seeing. :)

I could imagine gapvic to do something like this. She's got Andalusians.

I think Mr Fat will grow too large just based on his size now, but I think he's going to be a beautiful looking dog, it will be such a pity if he ends up too big to be shown. I would dearly love to keep him myself and race and course him as it wouldn't matter about his size for that, and might even be an advantage, plus he's a gorgeous cuddly lump of a thing, he was from the moment he was born, but I just cannot, I have enough dogs now. I suspect he will be kept "in the family" either with a friend or relative of Marcus. I very much doubt he will actually sell any of these puppies. :laugh:

Not a dumb question at all. The puppies aren't actually mine. I think if they are going to be shown and bred from Marcus & Lorna will keep them, but if they decide to let them go it will be as pets.

He looks very content. Iggy Mum fostered a little dog a couple of years ago that had just had surgery to remove both of her eyes. She still had the stitches in. She didn't know IM or her dogs and yet learned very quickly to navigate her way around the house, up and down the back steps and around the yard. She came with IM to Wogdogarama and immediately started heading off to explore. She was amazing. She got adopted and as far as I know is leading a wonderful life with her family to this day. Dogs are incredible how they learn to cope.

she loves it, although Secret is already trying, and succeeding to boss DN about. I know who will be alpha dog here very soon, if she isn't already. She's a fiesty determined little minx with alot of presence.

thanks everyone their names came easily for this litter. Being Bipsys first litter in Australia they created alot of talk. :laugh: and 'cause I'd already been calling the girls Secret and Mystery the rest came easily.
