Purchased Dog But Previous Owner Wants Back?
Kirislin replied to Remidog's topic in General Dog Discussion
I think I would let him have her back too, provided you weren't out of pocket with it. What about asking who bred her if you like her, perhaps you could get a sibling who is similar in temperament and looks. -
He's gorgeous. How's he settling in? I noticed on his rosette they are actually called mini foxies as a breed, not miniature fox terriers. I always assumed the term mini foxie was just the shortened informal name for them, like Iggies for Italian greyhounds.

You've got yourself the later version of the lens I have. I love mine, I think I'd love yours even more. Congratulations, you'll have fun with it, and you deserve it! :D

I just realised you mean me. We seem to have the same taste in whippets. I'm a bit more lenient with colour than I wrote there, I dont mind some white but I'm sick of seeing brindles, even though I have 2 of my own. I just miss seeing those graceful curvy little whippets. Now when I go to a show, which is rare, I sometimes take a glance at the whippets and immediately lose interest. Great long exaggerated necks like a horse, and those hind legs stretched waaaaaaay out behind them. The make me think of those dragster cars with the weird extension out the back of them. I think now too if they ever concentrate on breeding for temperament they breed to be outgoing and friendly, I assume to make them good pets, which makes sense I suppose, but I love the aloof whippets who love their person and will be friendly to people they know but turn their noses up at strangers. I suppose they were originally bred to be aloof so if a bloke was out poaching his whippet wouldn't go gushing up to the landowner.

No, there wasn't any pics, all I can suggest is to email the person.

I saw this on facebook and remembered someone talking about wanting a lurcher/stag type. These are in Vic Hi hound lovers! (Hope this is ok to post) I have two beautiful hound xs that are in need of foster care, one a staghound x under 1, male and the other a greyhound x under 2 (looks like an over grown whippet) female, if anyone would be interest in letting some beautiful pooches share your couch please shoot me an email at [email protected] Thankyou!

O M G! Calendula Tea Rinse
Kirislin replied to RiverStar-Aura's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I haven't read the whole thread. Can you use fresh calendular flowers to make a rinse for itchy dogs. The house across the road from a friend will soon be bulldozed for apartments. The elderly Italian man had the most wonderful veggie garden, and has left it all behind I went across the other day and the grape vines are all starting to set fruit, there's artichokes, fennel, aniseed, dill, parsley, peach, nectarine, olive, fig and possibly quince trees and many more, lots of herbs and everywhere orange and yellow calendular (or marigold?) plants. I'm looking after a little puppy who has itchy skin and I'm thinking about transplanting alot of these flowers to my place. Wondering if they can be used fresh or must they be dried? -
very cute. Congratulations.

I found this was a fairly accurate general description of them. http://www.yourpurebredpuppy.com/reviews/italiangreyhounds.html

Exactly, in the background of those 3 photos you can see Tag hasn't moved.

Well they are a sighthound so I suppose somewhere sometime they were expected to hunt, but due to their size it was probably mice and rats and other small vermin, some might tackle bunnies but they would find it hard to make a quick kill. That's my guess. They were also simply lap dogs, required to look elegant, but I would think they also served as hot water bottles in bed because their little bodies are very warm. You will sometimes see them in Renaissance paintings sitting on laps of ladies in satin lacy dresses, they've been around as a recognised breed a lot longer than whippets although my belief is that once upon a time they were basically one and the same as there was quite a range in size and appearance of IGs. Others would probably dispute that so I stress it's just what I think. I would actually like it if my 2 had a stronger prey drive. Living in the country I get a lot of mice coming into this house. My good mouser has died and I really miss her. These ones dont have that natural urge to sniff out a mouse in the house like Kibah (whippet) did. In my experience, the bigger they get, the more placid the dog, so IGs are really hyper, whippets less so and greyhounds need to be poked with a stick to get them going. (kidding) even in recent times they were in the families of Royalty. This is Princess Mary, doesn't she look like Princess Margaret. https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/236x/4e/42/92/4e42925008aa72b0fd125c24cc467eee.jpg

this is why you dont see many photos of her at the moment. Honestly, it's like trying to photograph a blow fly on the move. There one second 5F6A9060dppt by kirislin, on Flickr Gone the next 5F6A9061dppt by kirislin, on Flickr I so wish I'd got her in frame and in focus, but it's near to impossible. At least these give you an idea of her character though 5F6A9062dppt by kirislin, on Flickr

they're pretty inspirational aren't they, makes me think I need to get out and about more. How's the poor froggy being bitten by two mozzies. I loved the bee eater getting the march fly too, I hate those things. -
Hoo-bloody-ray!! I hope the boss charges extra to repair the wall too. Or better still leaves it as is until they ask for it to be fixed and then let them know that will cost more.
-
Yeah, be careful, I reckon they're around. :D

My want list would be the "perfect" whippet. To my eye that would be nothing like the show whippet of today, she (yes, I want a bitch) would be small, under 18", not brindle, solid coloured, either black, blue, fawn ( a certain kind of fawn I no longer see) or cream, very shapely, not the angulation I see on show whippets today, and with an aloof but not timid temperament to strangers, and strong prey drive. My other want list would be for the stud book to be re opened to allow good types of currently unregistered (non pedigree) whippets in. Better don my flame suit for that one.

any homes yet or are they all still wrestling around your backyard?
