Stress: I feel like such a traitor
Kirislin replied to sandgrubber's topic in General Dog Discussion
I've only just seen this, so I'm hoping they've landed by now and are safe and well. Welcome back to our side of the world. -
I saw an Aussie tree, unless they have a very similar native which is possible since proteas and waratahs are related. I saw a bunya bunya pine.

a while back someone in NSW (I think) said they were looking for a staghound type of dog. I cant remember if it was here in general or in one of the sighthound threads. I've looked in as many as I could think of that I visit, where I might have seen it but cant find the post. Anyway, I know of some pups looking for homes. They're in Vic. Contact me if you see this message.

If horse conformation followed GSD conformation
Kirislin replied to sandgrubber's topic in General Dog Discussion
one reason why I like stock horse classes, although the last time I was at a stock horse show was about 25 years ago so they might have changed since then. I completely agree with about the problems that focussing only on the trot cause and it's been bothering me for years with whippets. I believe they've been bred now for generations to look good at the trot and stack, and it has changed their appearance so much that the modern whippet no longer appeals to me at all. This might also apply to other breeds I don't know. I'll probably be shot down for saying it, but it's my opinion. I'm hoping now that lure coursing seems to be taking off it will have a positive influence on their conformation. We shall see. -
Pug puppy stolen at knifepoint last night
Kirislin replied to Scrappi&Monty's topic in General Dog Discussion
that's so sad. I'd go nuts wondering what happened if it was my dog. -

Rescued a Shih Tzu that was locked by himself for 6 weeks
Kirislin replied to Magpie Belden's topic in General Dog Discussion
I wonder if he's got infected gums and nasal passages due to bad teeth. I might be assuming too much here but it doesn't sound like he was brought back to good health before he was adopted so perhaps once he's a bit stronger get them looked at too. -
I dread to think of what might happen to the poor dog. The owner must be heartbroken.

Important!! New genetic disease in Rottweilers
Kirislin replied to Starkehre's topic in General Dog Discussion
yes, knowledge is power. I wish every breeder of every breed was as willing to accept that there are genetic diseases that mustn't be swept under the carpet.. I know of some one who spoke up about a disease in a Sighthound breed and her name has been dragged through the mud because of it. Good luck with eradicating this horrible disease. -
Yeah, unfortunately I hardly take photos anymore. I dont have nearly as many covering Secret's life as I did her mum Neko's when she was growing up.

Should I Post South African trip photos?

why are you even asking us, are you teasing? -
Neko's 3 beautiful babies are 1 year old today! Obi celebrated the event by going to a show and he came runner up, or 2nd, not sure how to say it, in the dog challenge. No photos cause I didn't go. We always thought he'd be too big but apparently there were others the same size as him, so he's not such a giant after all. Secret is definitely fairy sized though, she stopped growing at 17 weeks. She is the same weight now that Obi was at 8 weeks old but she's my baby and I love her. 5F6A0196dppt by kirislin, on Flickr My little munchkin 5F6A0197dppt by kirislin, on Flickr 5F6A0208dppt by kirislin, on Flickr with mummy Neko 5F6A0211dppt by kirislin, on Flickr I should have bought her a pair of raybans for her birthday, she's always squinting at me. 5F6A0213dppt by kirislin, on Flickr My darling Tag is always up for a game with "his" girls 5F6A0216dppt by kirislin, on Flickr I pick 'em up, she pulls them down 5F6A0219dppt by kirislin, on Flickr 5F6A0221dppt by kirislin, on Flickr 5F6A0235dppt by kirislin, on Flickr

I think it works particularly well with rough coated dogs. It wouldn't be quite as effective on a shiny whippet or IG for example, although I still think they'd be lovely. Some of the little Shih tzu types with moustaches and eyebrows just look like tiny little fairy dogs sitting in her hand!

I hope it managed to claw what ever it had around its muzzle off, otherwise I suppose eventually they'll find the poor things skeleton in some out of the way place.
-
Yeah, I just love it.

I saw this on facebook and asked permission to post it here. This is the story that went with it. Our beautiful dog, Buster, died early last year and my step daughter is still cut up with his loss. So I did this for her for Christmas. She broke down in tears when she opened the present to find this printed and framed. The picture depicts her meeting Buster in the forest late one night. please note: the image is copyright 2017 Blue Diamond Photography Australia.
