Today we made the heartbreaking decision to give Bonnie her wings - she was coming up for 14 and had suffered with arthritis for many months - even a daily Previcox tablet wasn't keeping the pain at bay. To see her struggle to get up and even to walk comfortably - we knew that the time to make the decision was coming closer. Part of me hoped that one morning we would get up and find she had slipped peacefully away - but in the end - it wasn't to be A rescue girl at 12 months she has given us many years of love and has been the most beautifully natured girl ever Run free my gorgeous girl - at Rainbow Bridge where the pain is gone and Clapton and Jess wait to greet you. We love you - wait for us
-
Absolutely - the more the merrier and we love to meet new people and their dogs
-
Earl is a big fat monster (no - just kidding ) but seriously he must be over 30 kilos now - he still has a pretty well defined waist and lots of skin to grow into Would love to meet an interstater - just remember to pack a roast chicken for Pele the porker
-
I'll be there - Earl still needs socialising as much as possible Will update the title for this weekend
-
For what it's worth my OH put napthalene flakes in the roof space (moth balls) and they seem to have put them off - we had one in the wall cavity and the dog slept through all its noise ....................but goes nuts at them outside.
-
Beautiful words Danelady - dammit - something in my eye
-
They told us she was a BC x Rotty - We since have come to the conclusion she is kelpie x something with a white fluffy undercoat that moults for the entire summer She has the sweetest nature though - everyone loves her
-
My old boy - at 16 - now playing over the Bridge And my old girl - coming up for 14 - doing what she does best - sleeping on the couch
-
I'm with you - some people just have (and want to have) no idea about responsible dog ownership - I feel so sorry for their dogs At least my family have purebreds - even if they still have no idea about looking after them properly *sigh*
-
That is brilliant - it is such a breakthrough - I love to watch ours play - they are the first ones that have really played with the bitey face and the bum in the air stuff Good work
-
Our first 2 dogs - now playing at the Bridge Jess - ACD X - named after the bitch in Footrot Flats (also after my paternal grandmother - Jessie - as then at least one of the family carried on the name *L*) Clapton - Staffy X - OH gave me 2 choices - Eric or Clapton - there was no way I was standing in the yard yelling "Eric.." Our current dogs Bonnie - Kelpie X - was named when we adopted her at 12 months old Rosie - Kelpie - the kids saw it on a pet tag - they liked it - I wasn't too fussed at the time - now I think "hhhmmmmmm - do I really like it?" - but it kind of suits her Earl - Bloodhound - pedigree name Centitout My Name is Earl - we wanted something bluesy for a bloodhound - went through a few choices like Jed or Jethro (from the Beverly Hillbillies) but we finally agreed on this one and our breeder liked it and was willing to use it for his pedigree name
-
He has absolutely no issues with his self esteem no matter what I type about him - he gets so many smooches he is convinced he is irresistible
-
My brother is getting a white boxer puppy from a kennel in NZ because they can still dock tails there - is this soemthing Australian breeders have noticed happening?
-
Our suburb is getting worse for people walking their dogs off lead - my kids go to school about 5 minutes away and they have signs saying 'no dogs' on the ovals - doesn't stop the bl**dy guy who jogs around the unfenced oval with his two large dogs running free anywhere they wish on it - or the woman walking her friends GSP who told me her friend said she wouln't need a leash as he always came back when called - or the guy who ignored his little scruffer as it took a dump on the oval and only came to get it when it rushed me and the kelpie through a gap in the fence I swear I am going to programme the council number into my mobile and report them

Come to the Adelaide Royal Then we can have a family reunion when the ugly one can meet his superstar siblings
-
Vale Rocco - wait for those who love you - watch over them - you were much loved and were obviously here for a special reason. Healing thoughts to you and yours Serena - he was a beautiful soul and you have given him a beautiful tribute
-
Bring her to a DOL meet Robbi - we will give her lots of cuddles - she is a beautiful girl ETA - with Earl I now get - "What is it?" or - depending on how drooly he is - a screwed up face and a "Yuck". Rosie gets all the attention because she is such a pretty girl - vain little sod that she is
-
Rosie had the Sherman - she loved it but - evil little dog that she is - methodically worked her way through the seams to de stuff him - every time I pushed the stuffing back in she found another way to get it out She did enjoy it though
-
Well done Centitout - glad they went well
