Adelaide K9 Force Seminar - 8th May
MsKatie replied to MsKatie's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
OK - update - we have looked at ideas and believe that everyone chipping in a set amount is easier - $15 each gives us money for morning tea - a variety of lunch choices and tea and coffee throughout the day. ness is sending out an email with my bank account details - if you can't deposit the money in please let me know ASAP - I am able to cover some of the amount if I am guaranteed it on the day. If you have any special dietary requirements can you please either email ness, post this info or PM either myself or ness. Cheers -
Sending her sloppy bloodhound hugs, psycho kelpie hugs and good thoughts

The platters are a good idea - I know Coles and Woolies do that sort of thing or you can pick up some ready made salads and stuff - I can help with that I also don't mind sorting out cups / plastic cutlery if needed / napkins / plates - I can buy that stuff beforehand - we have a place that does that stuff bulk to the public near us I have added the chicken platter idea to the first post too -

Welcome to the lunch thread - to help us to organise lunch on the day we are asking you for your preference and we can then add information eg. pizza preferences, what food people will bring etc to this thread So please check back for updates Good thinking ness - any feedback will help this day to go smoothly I'm happy to pick up some buns etc from Bakers Delight for morning tea UPDATE - have decided to go with everyone chipping in - post on page 2 plus you should have received emails

Don't let the sad face and soulful look fool you Monah - he has already tried to blame the kelpie I thought about putting something on it but wasn't sure about what I could put near or on the stitches - any ideas?
-
Earl seems a lot happier with the slightly smaller collar on - it is now attached to his regular flat collar rather than the bandage the vets had used to tie it on - BUT - we have 5 days left till he can have it off so we shall see what he does to it in those 5 days *L*
-
We've just put the other one on him - he couldn't resist licking the stitiches - 6 days to go As far as I knew it needs to be on till the stitches come out - but only if they are going after the stitches - hopefully your boy will be better behaved than either of my doggies were *L*
-
The hound has just - after twice having to have it taped up - put a huge crack in his Elizabethan collar so I have taken it off him. He was desexed on Wednesday so we will watch him carefully and if he goes to lick the stitches we have a smaller one that we can put on him for now. I swear he has been trying to destroy it since he had it on!!!

As far as I know it is illegal to have a dog off leash unless it is a designated off leash area Here are some topics re. off leash walking and also dog parks http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?show...mp;hl=off+leash http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?show...mp;hl=off+leash http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?show...34&hl=parks http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?show...71&hl=parks -

+ 1 I would be ringing wherever he got the licence plate from and following it up with them - I'm sure they have heard "The dog ate my car" before Do you know a good car person that you can ring re. the scratches? And maybe buy a cover for the car?

I am happy to help organise stuff For our usual meets we generally start a thread for people to add what they are bringing - then update the first post to include all the info - I am happy to do that for the DOL members and maybe if ness can have the non DOL members email her and then post that info? I suppose the first thing we need to do is work out whether we are - bringing something to share? - chipping in for pizza? Would need to check there is a pizza place that is open at lunchtime on a Saturday - if we go with this we can see if they will give us a deal for the ammount we would be buying - chipping in for something else to share? eg. chicken platters? Can you maybe email people about this first ness - and then we can go from there My school has an urn I can borrow for the day - we would need tea bags / coffee / milk / sugar / plastic spoons and disposable cups - maybe also spring water and plastic cups? A small charge for each cup would cover this Another idea is buying cans of soft drink and having them available for people to purchase on the day - I don't know if there is access to a fridge or we could bring eskys? How many people are coming along? -

*LOL* Loving these stories - just went and checked on our pup - found him in the middle of the bed - curled up asleep That's what happens when you get blase about it and stop closing the bedroom door We got our first 2 dogs at about 4 months from rescue - our 3rd at a year from rescue, Rosie at 8 weeks from a pet shop - never again now I know what I know - and Earl at 12 weeks from Centitout. Getting Rosie was an experience - she was not planned at all and I had several WTF moments - luckily she was a good puppy - slept next to the bed on a t-shirt of mine the first night - toilet trained pretty quickly and introduced me to the joys of watching dogs play bitey face with each other. She is currently methodically dismembering a stuffed toy - the room looks like it snowed Earl was the first pup we got from a breeder so we had the joy of being involved right through - when we picked him up from the airport my first thought was - "OMG - he is so big". It took him a couple of days to settle in and we quickly realised if he was going to sleep in our room we were going to have to Earlproof it - he still managed to destroy an extension cord and chew the skirting board :p Now he is 6 months and he and Rosie spend most of the day (and evening) chasing each other round and playing bitey face - he has his own special set of quirks (he loves squeaky toys and will do anything for a liver treat ) and I am looking forward to spending the years watching him grow and develop. Would I get another pup - absolutely

Update on my particular incident - I have not seen the dogs or their owner since and I have received an email from my local council I fully intend to give them these details and if there are any other incidents with these particular dogs they will also be receiving details of them. Thanks everyone for your support and sharing - scully - your info was very informative - I feel a bit better prepared now if it happens again -
I And My Dog Can't Sleep At Night :-((((
MsKatie replied to GSDowner's topic in General Dog Discussion
We had one - it got stuck in the wall cavity and we had to cut a hole in the wall to get it out - after that my OH put a light in the roof which we left on 24 / 7 and scattered mothballs around the roof cavity - seems to have dettered the little sod (Although knowing my luck it will come back now that I have said that) My kelpie has a serious dislike for them and will bark at them when they sit in the trees -
Edward looks lovely - has he been to any other shows? - he looks neater than Earl - if you know what I mean - Earl has so much loose skin - might try getting a photo of him where he isn't sprawled all over the place OK - he doesn't stack at all but at least he is standing up in this one *L* ....and he does love his food
-
What a gorgeous boy - good on you for taking him on Here is a recent picture of our spoilt rotten boy

Hi jeanie - I would agree with the advice given - I am feeding 3 times a day with a mix of raw and dried and am still getting up once a night most nights to let my pup out to pee (he is 6 months). I would let them out just before you go to bed and then get up at about 2 to take them out again - I use the word 'toilet' for mine and it works well - he knows that when I say that he needs to pee before he gets back in. Good luck with your pups and you will find lots of useful advice here
