I have - he is on grain free dog food at the moment - she has taken swabs too - hopefully this will get us closer to the bottom of his issues and give us a plan to tackle them, clear them up and manage them. He has really deep ear canals so getting right into them is difficult - joy of owning a bloodhound.
-
That's my goal with Earl - I don't expect them to be fixed but I hope for the worst to be flushed and to hopefully be able to identify the actual problem and treat it - and then to manage it so the poor boy isn't in pain from them

Good grief - do people have no sense - I won't even let my 2 kids walk my 2 dogs around the streets because the kelpie can be aggressive to other dogs and the hound is too big. They take the leashes when we walk across the oval in the morning AFTER I have checked for other dogs and if I see another dog I take the leashes back. And my 2 kids are 14 and 11 Sending hugs to you and Toby

Earl is going in for an ear clean under general on Monday - his ears are awful and obviously bothering him - we are hoping a flush and then whatever medication he needs and then daily cleaning can finally get on top of it - poor thing
-
These are so much the spirit of my 2 - Earl is just a big boofer who would happily spend his days having his tummy rubbed - and Rosie is the Energiser kelpie who loves nothing better than to have a run :)
-
I'm paranoid with the hound - he is on intimate terms with our local 24 hour vet - particularly the vet nurses who work long weekends, late night shifts or even late night shifts on long weekends *L* Hoping Zig just has an upset tummy and all is OK - fingers crossed he can settle and you can get some sleep

Can Dogs Just Take A Dislike To A Certain Person
MsKatie replied to MsKatie's topic in General Dog Discussion
Thanks for the replies everyone - great to have others insights. I think the size of the dog may be a factor contributing to the nervousness - very large breed male dog. I think the best case scenario is to keep person and dog separated to avoid any incidents. -
Can Dogs Just Take A Dislike To A Certain Person

So people wouldn't be concerned about the aggresion but would tend to think the dog was reacting to some gut instinct and the person was suspicious? What if a dog reacted like that to you? What would you think? -
Have had it said to me recently about a particular dog " oh - he just doesn't like x" or " it's just x" - can this actually be because said person is nervous around the dog or because the dog doesn't see the person often? The person is a fairly dog savvy person - owns thir own dogs - but has had a couple of 'nips' and a bare of teeth from this dog. I would be concerned if it were my dog even f it was ok with everyone else. x has decided they are not going near said dog again as they don't feel they can trust him.Any ideas?

I have a "No Dogs" leash for the kelpie - very easy to read
-
OUt of my 2 I think the kelpie would be the most likely to react - this would then set off the bloodhound and even if it was just barking the fact that he is not a barker would probably alert people. On an aside my personal trainer just adopted 2 older great danes and we have to put them in the house when we train if the training involves boxing or kicking in any form as the male thinks we are fighting and wants to protect my pt.

Now I think I need a greyhound so I can put one of these on it because I can't see either of mine letting me - although the hound would look cute I reckon

One of the river stones Earl ate was pushed out of his bum by the vet - didn't stop the silly bugger eating another one though *sigh*

Hey everyone's more then welcome to come to Casa De Crazy. Come on I live with 4 Malinois and 20 ferrets, I'm already ahead on the insanity stakes. You can't bring me anything I havn't seen before or that will shock me, trust me  We've had a couple of batty dog days before, my rottie picked on a big male Sarplaninac, the cockers all just sat on the top step teasing everyone else, OH got mauled by a GSD ... as you can see it was a terrifying day hey when people come down I cook too. Lots. We can have a crazy dog BBQ! OMG it would be awesome! Just bring crates, treats, iodine, bandages, a side salad, we'll be fine! I can throw a feral kelpie and a dumb ass bloodhound into the mix

I cross the road with mine if I see another dog coming - I am hyper vigilant when I have the 2 of them as the kelpie is reactive and the hound can whinge which hypes her up more. We were walking today and saw a woman with an off leash dog on the path we were on (next to a main road) so luckily we were next to an alley and walked through that to the next street. We walk early morning to try and avoid the wankers.

Makes me sick to think of it. They had rolls and rolls of it when I was at Bunnings today. Should be outlawed - LOL. Sorry KHM :). No worries - ours has been great but I would not have gone with the Bunnings one - definitely proffesional job needed.
