I'm certainly no expert, but have a pretty fresh experience of whelping (less than 24 hours ago) It looks pretty normal to me .... apart from the long amount of time between 7th and 8th pups. Don't know about them not being in a sack. Dani was the same with moving around whilst whelping. That was actually how I knew when another pup was on it's way, because she would actually start walking around and would give birth while kind of half squatting.

You're very welcome Karen! I'm glad I was able to be there for you and even more glad that all has ended well. Congratulations on your new babies!!! You'll have to bottle some puppy breath and send it down to me! Now the fun and timewasting begins. You'll find a million very valid reasons to watch each and every movement they make for the next 8 weeks!! A tidy house and normal life as you currently know it is about to end! I really do appreciate your support. You were an absolute god-send last night when I was anxious and unsure. Just having somebody I could call and ask questions was a huge relief. Again, thank you so very much

Thanks gapvic. And congrats on your puppies Derharv.

Thanks everybody And yes Gretel, I was a bit worried. I thought she wasn't going to let them feed. The first two pups just freaked her right out. I had to break the sac on both of their faces, and had to tie and cut the umbilical cords because she wasn't doing anything with them. But now she is doing beautifully. She's with them all constantly. So proud of my girl

Dani's litter (cavaliers) arrived this morning. Five pups - 3 males and 2 females
-
Thanks heaps snag Puppy five just arrived. Tri female
-
Ummm my mistake ... she wasn't finished. Puppy four - tricolour female
-
I think she may be finished as she is a lot calmer and is actually laying in her whelping box with the pups now. Yay I just want to say a huge THANK YOU to ellz. She was nice enough to give me her phone number and said I could call her anytime if I had any questions or just needed moral support. Ellz you are a star

And 3rd puppy has just arrived - blenheim male

We have two tricolour boys Don't know if there's anymore to go. However, it hasn't all been smooth sailing. Dani has freaked out and won't have anything to do with them. She is hiding up the other end of the house and won't come back to where the pups are
-
She has also starting nesting in her whelping box (something she has shown very little interest in before) *fingers crossed*

Ok I just took her temp and it's 36.8, so I'm assuming that's a good sign. I'd say tonight is the night. t-time, I'm in Gladstone. The vet I spoke to on the phone is the one who will actually be on call tonight, so I guess I'll keep a close eye on her, and call the vet out tonight if I have to. But everybody please keep Dani in your thoughts and maybe send us some good wishes for a smooth labour
-
Rang the vet, they reckon it's just a sign that the puppies will be coming soon. I asked if it means the puppies are in distress and they said no. Still doesn't make me feel real secure, but I guess I'll wait a little longer.

Day 63 - Dani was out on the back landing and when she moved I noticed she had left a damp patch on the concrete, and this patch was a green tinge. I then checked her fanny area and noticed a splodge of this greenish stuff ... I describe it as looking a bit like the colour of pea and ham soup. Could this be her mucous plug? If so, how long should I wait for labour to begin?
-
Hi BB, when you say "top most nipples", do you mean closest to her head or closest to her tail? (I'm assuming head) Today (day 62) is the first day that I've got any milk out of her nipples at all. But only from the middle sets (none from the sets at either end of her body)
-
Oooh thanks ellz, I feel a bit better now. And wow, your girl was massive
-
Seriously? Now you've got me worried. And that was only at day 58 - 59 which is like 4 or 5 days early. So how do I know if anything is wrong? I mean if my girl didn't go into labour by say day 65 then yes, I'd think it was time for the vet. But day 58 or 59 I'd just assume it wasn't time yet. What else can I tell you ... ummm .... she doesn't seem overly interested in food today. But she's still quite active. Doesn't seem to be panting or nesting. But last night she seemed restless, she kept getting me up to let her out for the toilet, but then half the time she didn't actually do anything, she just seemed to want to go out on the stairs (maybe to get cool or something). I felt her belly earlier and one of the puppies was very active. And then she was laying across my lap about half and hour ago and I could feel movement on my legs where her belly was

I've been taking temp twice a day (but 3 times yesterday, and will do 3 times today)
-
Ok so yesterday was day 60, took my girl's temp, and it was 37.1 .... so I thought "here we go". But a couple of hours later, it was back up to 37.8. Today, day 61, similar story, took temp and it was 37, so I thought "ooh that's even better, here we go" but a couple of hours later, back to 37.6. Does that all seem to be normal?
-
Ok, don't know what I was thinking, but my girl is actually due on the 7th (not the 10th). I think I somehow just got a particular day or date stuck in my head, and that was it lol
