I wish their rules were the same throughout Aust. Vom and von can be used in some states and not in others.

Love it. How inventive.

Met mine at a dog show and it kinda just happened from there. Goodluck with finding a mentor.

One of my girls was a screamer, I honestly thought the RSPCA would be on my doorstep . I was so worried for her but she is rather precious and even shakes when I cut her nails.

My Ex and I had a wonderful mentor. We used to go to her kennels nearly every weekend for many years. We learnt so much from her. Not just in our breed but how to handle dogs in general. Afterall we were very green. I used to hand write all her pedigrees (back in the good old days), I learnt those pedigree inside out. I will always be indebited to her. We owned our breed for 7 years before we felt we were knowledgable enough to breed a litter.

Go Away, it is called stalking

Try this one, though your pup might go a bit overboard once the taste is acquired, lol. LIVER BREAD Ingredients Puree in blender: 500 g raw liver (any kind including chicken) 3 eggs 3tbs golden syrup garlic Dry ingredients 2.5 cups wholemeal SR flour or white SR flour. Mix dry ingredients together then add the blended mixture. Mix together, add water if required. Spread onto baking sheets and bake at 180c for about 10 – 15 minutes. Bake a bit longer for a firmer result. I forgot to add, I chop this up into small squares, pop into freezer bags and freeze, just take out what I need. This holds it's shape and is not gooey or fatty in your pocket. It is more like a cake cross bread.

Yes, I have an excel spreadsheet on dam, her DOB, health test results, date of mating, date of whelping. Live and dead whelps, any problems to do with mating, whelping and whelps. Any disqualifying marks and so forth. I also have a database of all progeny that is health tested and results.

Must be pleasing to the eye and I must feel that my dog is the right dog for her, conformation and pedigree. Must comply with the National Rottweiler HD Scheme. Which covers HD, ED, Dental and Eyes. Must have sound temperament. Must be registered with an ANKC body. Titles don't mean much to me. If the dog or bitch is good enough then I will breed with it. Not all great producers are good show dogs/bitches.

5 Rotts here, 1 young male and 2 mother/daughter combo's. One of the mother/daughter lot will cook themselves in the sun. All the others are too smart and stay in the shade or indoors. I don't know why they do it either.

I agree, if all those male owners didnt want us to show our females in season then the shows would be full of males only ! Why should I leave my girl at home just because you cannot control your male ? I can control mine ! I have also had exhibitors happy when they found out my girl was in season because it put their boy on his toes ! I always let everyone around me know my girl is in season and I try very hard not to toilet them close (some girls just have to mark though). And I always tell those in the lineup around me. I think that is a very selfish attitude. You say you control your dog who weighs what??? I'll give you my 52kg dog and dangle a bitch in season in front of him and see how well you control him. Yes, his is basically under control but will not stack properly and cries for the girl. Very distracting for the dog. Anyway what is 3 weeks out of your bitches show career or are those ribbons too important.
-
The only time I will show a bitch in season is at our specialty shows. As an owner of a stud dog, I hate it when somebody walks past my dog and their girl is in season. He picks up on it and won't settle, made him very hard to show. I think it is inconsiderate of other people to show a bitch in season. Oh, with our specialties the bitches are shown on a different day to our males.

What's Wrong About Giving Dogs Human Names?
laneka replied to W Sibs's topic in General Dog Discussion
My vet acutally puts my surname as the dog's surname. I think it is lovely, they are part of my family. I have not called them human or non human names, usually something out of a science fantasy book. As is my kennel name. Ashkevron means beloved from a science fantasty book. I must admit when I was working in a boarding kennel, two collies came in with the names John and Bruce. At first I thought is was funny and strange but I soon got used to it and thought why not. There are no rules, it is whatever suits you. -
Thanks SecretKei, the k9 working lines site is excellent and has a lot of info.

You are more than welcome. Any time at all. The reason I mince up my own veges is my dogs will not eat the barf patties. Also I know exactly what I have put into the mix. My guys won't eat kangaroo either, wish they would but no, they act like they are offended when I have offered it to them. Guess they are just fussy. I do have dry food on hand as well. Sometimes they like something different so I add a small amount to their food.

My guys love the bubble machine.

A stud dog in his prime, fit and healthy can mate two bitches in the one day. One first thing in the morning and the other in the evening. Make sure he is well rested between matings and maybe a bit extra food during this time.
-
I go to a chicken factory to get my carcasses and mince. Far cheaper. I pay $9 for 12kg for carcasses and $1.50 kilo of mince. I go to a knackery for my beef and brisket bones. Supermarket for lamb and a market for veges/fruit. Have a good look around on the net and see what you can come up with.

There are many ways you can feed your dogs, it totally depends on what fits your situation best. I prefer to weigh out everything so I pack everything seperately. Others prefer to prepack into meals. A friend of mine prepacks the veges and meat into takeaway containers. They feed once a day and a kilo of food is fed to each dog. They have kelpies and Rotts. They feed one meal of bones, which they have pre weighed and the next meal is the vege/meat mix. They just thaw it out and put it in the dogs bowls. So that is something you will have to work out for your self.

Any bones that they can actually eat. You can use poultry necks, ducks, turkey. This includes lamb necks, flaps and so forth. I just re read what I had written. I stay away from rib bones as I find these splinter.
-
Don't feed the dogs weight bearing bones. They must be able to eat the lot. That is why I use brisket bones. The dogs can eat the lot. You will find that their poos don't smell, are smaller and firmer.

Got a lotta big dogs and did not want to do this weekly. We can cope doing it every 4 - 6 weeks.
