  1. Oh Susie, I am so sorry to hear about Flynn. Please give her kisses and hugs from us. We are thinking of you all.
  2. CavNrott, I don't know what to say. I was crying when I read your post. Whatever the two of you are doing, keep it up. I am so happy for Sophie and I wish the very best for you both. That toughness sure does help when fighting sickness. Please hugs and kisses to both of you. I treat Ash with conventional and holistic medicines. I find the combination excellent.
  3. Thanks for that CavNrott, I have learnt so much. I have had dogs in the past with osteoscarcoma and there was not much that could be done back then. Rottweilers have suffered this horrible disease for as long as I have had them. The first dog that I had that developed it was born in 1973. It is not new but the treatments are so much better, re the pain relief. There were not oncologists back then so it was a case of when the pain got too bad it was decision time. Very sad. Please keep posting about Sophie. I want to know how she is coping day to day. Thinking of you all and praying hard.
  4. BP, that would have been so distressing. I hope you get her meds sorted and she continues to have better days. Poor baby. CavNrott, I hope Sophie is coping and having good days. Even though you are not posting I hope you are reading our good wishes. ZednQ, how is our Zed boy this morning. Hopefully he is enjoying the cooler weather. Much better for our sick furkids. Thinking of you all, always.
  5. Hugs and kisses and well wishes for our sick ones. Hope they all had a good day. We are thinking of you all.
  6. CavNrott, BP, how are Sophie and Keisha, did they have a good day? I really hope they did. BP, did you go to the vets today for more meds, if so what are they? What did he say about Keisha shaking her head and did you mention her hiding behind the couch? Sorry for the questions but I am very interested.
  7. Well I have now read through this thread and I am amazed at how many people are so narrow minded and jealous. This thread is purely for the purpose of letting us know how these sick dogs and their people are coping day to day. I am sometimes ashamed to be part of this very insecure human race, maybe a lot of you should look at your dogs, how happy they are and grateful for small things. How dare any of you suggest that these dogs are not well looked after, get in the owners shoes and see how well you fit them. I for one am disgusted in the jealous behaviour of some of the people posting in here. GET A LIFE!!!
  8. I hope that Sophie, Keisha and Zed have and are having a good day today. CavNrott, BP, and ZednQ, you guys are to be admired. You are all an inspiration to us all. Just a little note on slippery elm. I have used the powder mixed with water on puppies that have developed the runs. The result was excellent. I do keep the powered form on hand at all times. My youngest daughter studied natropathy(sp?) and is a mine of information. Thanks Grumpette for posting all that info. Very interesting.
  9. BP, I am sorry to hear that Keisha appears to be losing her hearing. One of the reasons she is hiding behind the couch could be because the loss of her hearing could be unsettling to her. It seems to be happening quickly. She might need a bit of time to adjust. Please give her a kiss and a hug from me. We are thinking of you and Keisha. I sometimes dread coming into this thread as it is a huge reminder that Ash is nearly nine. Yet at the same time I want to know what is happening with our sick kids.
  10. Rottnbullies, I am so sorry to hear that Tyson has gone to the bridge  . He will always be with you and will watch over you from above. Cherish your memories. R.I.P Tyson.
  11. Thank you so much CavNrott, please give Sophie hugs and kisses from us and her daddy. She is so much in our thoughts.
  12. Allerzeit, that is great if you could. I can see only one problem, owners/breeders being honest about what their dog/s died of. Many will not as they do not want their lines tarred. I have a couple for you if you do set up a data base. I have always wanted the NRCA to set up a longevity database.
  13. What a lovely idea this thread is. I do hope all our sick friends are feeling better today. CavNrott, I too would like to know about Sophie's chemo treatment. How long does it go for? Can you please explain the whole treatment. I am sorry if you have already done so, I must have missed it. BP, I think Keisha looks lovely with her cone head, she really is smiling at you. ZednQ, I hope Zed is coping with this heat and his urine comes back to normal colour soon.
  14. I use frozen bones, marrow and chuck. I also give ice blocks laced with treats. Kongs are great, stuff them then freeze. The cold is very soothing for sore gums. Pigs ears are good too. Though my pups eat these quickly.
  15. Thanks Kristie, did you get it in Vic? I have just started Ash on it as it seems that as he is getting older, normal dryfood does not agree with him. I have had him on veges/fruit, brown rice and meat. His gut has settled but he is starting to lose weight. He is not skinny by any means but not the way I like him.
  16. I use Fido's Herbal Rinse for Hydro Baths, it does not contain soap but gets the dogs clean and smelling beautiful. It does not need rinsing out.
  17. Just curious, has anyone used or is using Dick van Pattens Organic Dog Food, if so what is it like and were you happy with it?
  18. Allerzeit, as far as I know not many true bobtails are born these days. Or at least I have not heard about or seen them. Some breeders have had short tail by this I mean about 3" long and there is a breeder in WA who has a lot of short tailed Rotts. Most true bobtails do not survive very long. I do hope this person takes these pups to the vet. They might be BYB but they are still living breathing pups. They do deserve a chance at life. I hope they also desex them before they sell them. Finding the right homes is a hard job and very important. As you know I have just had a litter and I know how many people I said no to because I felt they were not suitable for a Rottweiler. It takes a dedicated person to raise and train a Rottweiler to be a pillar of society. They are not a breed to be left in the backyard and need socialising and training for a long time. Once trained they are the best of dogs.
  19. Bobtails are born without any tail at all. Some are born without anus' and some are born with a form of spina bifida. It is not a good gene, yes there are some that come through okay. But as much as I would like to have used these dogs in the past and promote the bobtail, there are just too many health and temperament issues that go with it. The ones that are born with a short tail are not bobtails. There was a dog many years ago bred by Heatherglen that was a true bobtail. He did go on to become an Aust Ch but did not live past 5. He went in the lower back and had to be put to sleep. So now that tail docking is banned, I would rather have a tail than health and mental issues. Prefer to still dock though.
  20. Yet another 7 BYB Rotts, another 7 nails in the BSL coffin for the Rottweiler. You people make me sick, it is all about money. You do not even think what you are doing is so wrong and puts the ethical breeders and owners at risk of losing this wonderful breed. I think your price is disgusting, I do not charge much more than you are and all of my dogs are health certified and temperament tested. Bobtails can often have spine deformaties. Get these pups checked by a vet. If you can spare the money, vets are expensive and you just might not make enough in the end. Angry, I am pissed,.
  21. I swear by Liver Bread or Liver Cake. I cook this myself so I know exactly what goes in it. I reckon my dogs would sell me for this stuff.
  22. A little while ago I posted on here asking about a certain type of dry food. I have an 8 year old Rottweiler that I still show and he was losing condition and I wanted a better quality dry food for him. I was immediately contacted by Proplan. My boy has not looked better since being on Proplan and today took out Best In Show. I just wanted to say a very big THANK YOU TO PRO PLAN. Cheers Sue
  23. We use a dremel and clippers. We have one dog that has to be done fortnightly and the other two every now and again. All of ours see the dremel or clippers and just lay down. They do not like it but obviously know they are not going to get out of it.
  24. Allerzeit, that is so beautiful and very fitting for your old bag Innes. She now has her wings and is with her mates. They will all be watching over you and OH. They are united at last. Fly forever free Innes.
  25. No fleas here but do have a question, does Frontline deter paralysis tick? We are travelling north to Newcastle next week and I have purchased Frontline to treat our dogs for this tick.
