  1. Anne, I know I do not need to say this but enjoy your time together and big huge hugs to the pair of you. Special ones for Sophie.
  2. Glad to hear that Sophie is a picture of health. Hang in there Anne, she just might outdo the 2 months. She has done so very well, she just might surprise them all.
  3. I am sorry to disagree with you, there is not much muscle tone around the hip area going on those photos. If he were mine I would be swimming him a couple of times a week. You will be amazed at the results you will get. By making him stronger, he will stand better on his hock and probably not so wide in front. Give it a try, you have nothing to lose. He looks like a badly bred one to me. Not a cross.
  4. He looks like he needs a lot of muscle build up. Swimming will do that without pain. A fantastic non weight bearing exercise. You might find he will find life a bit easier with more muscle that will hold the hip joints better. You are right it is all about the quality of life and being a human it does take a lot of courage to see that. CnR, how is Sophie? I am missing your regular reports.
  5. They say that it can take up to 3 weeks for herbal remedies to really kick in. Of course like everything some are quicker and some dogs/human absorb it quicker. I am so glad that it is working. Hopefully he can come up with something else that will help Sophie. Thinking of the pair of you everyday.
  6. Yahoo, well done Sophie and I admire you Anne with your diligence. Thanks for the update.
  7. CavNrott, that is great news that Sophie is still coping so well. I am sure her liver and kidney results will be fine. The pair of you are such a fantastic team and inspiration.
  8. Hopefully the new meds work for Sophie, anything is worth a try. about feet standing. I have an 8mth old Ash son here and he drives me nuts standing on my feet all the time. Mind you, because he bounces around me, I stand on his quite a few times too.
  9. CavNrott, just keep walking her and let her enjoy herself. Her daddy gets depressed if he isn't walked or exercised. She sounds like such a sweety, I am glad that the tumour doesn't seem painful. What a treasure she is letting you clean it for her. Most dogs would run a mile. Thank you for your update.
  10. Hope Sophie is doing well on her new meds. Thinking of you guys.
  11. I so ditto that. Some kids need to be taught that sought of lesson. Their parents too.
  12. When Sophie's dad had his first seniors blood test, one of his liver enzymes came back a bit high, I put him on the milk thistleweed tea, it is dried leaves. From then on his liver bloods have come back normal. I swear by the stuff. I get it from www.greenpet.com.au I buy it in bulk.
  13. Laughing at the land shark Anne, a lot of Ash's kids seem to have this trait . But with proper training come through the other end great dogs. It is like the 'devil made me do it' I do hope the mistletoe works for Sophie, she so deserves it. It might take a while to kick in. Don't herbal medicines take a while? Sophie is an inspiration for a lot of us. If we are feeling a bit down, we only have to come in here and read. Sophie makes us understand that our woes are nothing compared to what she and her loving owner is going through.
  14. Anne, everything is worth a try. It cannot hurt. I would be ringing customs and see what they say. It is far too cold to be venturing outside. Much better in a nice warm home. Thank you so much for your updates. They are very important to me. I feel like Sophie is a little bit mine even though I know she is yours.
  15. CavnRott, so please that Sophie's results were good. She is one hell of a spunky girl. Have you tried www.greenpet.com.au or one of the other health sites for the mistletoe. I am learning so much from reading your posts. Even though I hope I never have to use it.
  16. Fingers crossed the results came back okay. Thinking of you two.
  17. Anne, she is made of stern stuff and will fight this to the end. I have my everything praying for you both. Goodluck with the results tomorrow, I am sure they will be fine. Kisses and hugs to the both of you.
  18. Hope today went well CavnRott, come on Sophie we are rooting for you.
  19. Sending hugs and healing vibes to Sophie, hope she is still well.
  20. Hi Anne, just checking that all is fine with Sophie and you. Sophie's music sounds lovely. She must really love it to run to the stereo to have it played. I think she enjoys laying on the bed, just the two of you. Hope you have a great day.
  21. CavnRot, How are you today? You said that you did not have a good day yesterday so I am sending hugs to you. I hope Sophie is feeling better as the evening goes on. I am sure she will be back to her perky self tomorrow. Hugs to both of you.
  22. Well Lisa, when you are enquiring about the use of a prong collar and you talk about your hard to walk 7mth old pup, in the same post, it does not take much to put the two together. That bitch needs more hands on by strangers and a heap more obedience. You do not need a prong collar, just obedience.
  23. Then why ask about an illegal training tool on a public forum, why not ask people who have been in the breed for years.
  24. Have you ever asked me what to do with her? Sorry folks I own her sire. As I said she needs obedience. I also have major shoulder injuries, I go to an osteo every fortnight and still manage to handle 50+kg Rottweilers. It is all about training and more training. Rip on average goes to obedience at least once a week, my OH also trains him in the backyard, he is taken on walks with other dogs, not just ours, he has been socialised with other dogs since he was 14 weeks old. He can still annoy other dogs but he has learnt when we say no we mean it. So lock the others up and do at least two training sessions a day in your back yard and use this when you are walking her. Yes she is strong but she is not uncontrolable. She just needs to be taught.
  25. Prong collars are illegal to use on a dog, but not to own. I have used them in the past, I probably will again in the future if I have a real problem dog. E collars are illegal too and I agree with you, both can be a very useful tool. You can use prongs but you must have a Vet cert okaying it. But to use a prong on a 7mth old bitch who is soft in temp and with an unexperienced handler then as far as I am concerned you are asking for trouble.
