  1. Mine arrived today, Smooch is 25inches (64cm) I bought the large but would have been better with the Medium. I am going to have to add a bit more velcro to mine to make it fit tighter.
  2. Just ordered one, will see how it goes. I did use the Rescue remedy on New Year, did make a bit of a difference but than again we didn't have that much noise from fireworks. About a dozen bangs at midnight.
  3. Yes that's the one, I spotted it in a Health Food store today. I have given Smooch two doses, but he is still under the computer table trembling.
  4. I managed to get some rescue remedy today, a couple of fireworks went off a hour ago and Smooch started shaking violently, gave him a couple of drops of the rescue remedy and surprise surprise another couple of fireworks just went off and Smooch didn't take any notice. I really don't expect too many fireworks going off here. Spoke too soon Smooch just climbed under the computer table.
  5. I have one of these. I bought it from either Sames Warehouse or the Reject shop, can't remember. http://www.dealsdirect.com.au/p/clever-pet-pad-the-clean-indoor-doggy-restroom-1/
  6. http://www.couriermail.com.au/news/breaking-news/police-find-25-dead-ponies-at-a-cliff-nea-glenn-innes/story-e6freonf-1226225561867 "POLICE have appealed to the community for anyone with information to come forward after 25 horses were found deceased near Glen Innes in New South Wales. Police from the New England Local Area Command received information about a large number of deceased ponies just before 1pm on December 16. Officers patrolled an area off the New England Highway on the Ben Lomond Range and eventually found the remains in a truck parking bay approximately 3km south of Old Ben Lomond Rd. The officers followed tracks to a nearby cliff and saw the bodies of 25 dead ponies of various colours and ages in the early stages of decomposition. An initial examination of the animals did not reveal any obvious wounds or indicate a cause of death. There were no brands, tags or any other form of identifying marks that could be seen to assist the officers in locating an owner. In one area police located 22 ponies while three others were found approximately 10m away. Police photographed the animals which were then buried at the location. Police believe that a small to medium-sized truck would have been used to dump the ponies and are appealing for anyone with information to come forward. Anyone with information about the incident or who saw suspicious or unusual behaviour in the area is urged to contact Glen Innes Police or Crime Stoppers on 1 800 333 000. " http://news.ninemsn.com.au/national/8394011/man-to-face-court-over-pony-deaths " A man will face court after the bodies of 25 ponies were found dumped near a cliff in northern NSW. Police received a call on Saturday afternoon that a large number of dead ponies had been seen. The tip-off led police to a truck parking bay, south of Old Ben Lomond Road near Glen Innes. After following tracks to a nearby cliff, officers discovered the bodies of 25 ponies of various colours and ages in the early stages of decomposition. An investigation into the deaths have led police to believe the animals were part of a group of 35 ponies that were loaded into a removalist truck in the Kingstown district. Police allege the truck was going to the north coast, but a lack of ventilation attributed to the death of the ponies. Two ponies survived the journey and have since been inspected by police in the northern part of the state. But the other eight ponies have yet to be found. On Thursday afternoon a 39-year-old Pottsville man was interviewed by police at his home. He was issued with a Future Court Attendance Notice for 25 counts of committing an act of aggravated cruelty upon an animal. The man will appear in Glen Innes Local Court on February 14 next year."
  7. Just found this. http://www.myshopping.com.au/PT--272_Proban_Tablets__fs_s122075_e__ Just checked and they are all out of stock.
  8. These are the ones I used on Smooch when he had a spinal stroke. http://www.ruffwear.com/Barkn-Boots-Grip-Trex_3?sc=2&category=11 Just had a quick look on their website and they have a few different ones on there now, might be worth looking at. I still use them if I take Smooch out on gravel or concrete as he still drags the toes on one of his back feet.
  9. I put one of these basket muzzels on Smooch every night as he has OCD licking a spot on his back leg when I am asleep and cant see him. http://farmerswarehouse.com.au/product.php?productid=22552&cat=606&page=1
  10. You might get some help from here. http://www.robotreviews.com/chat/viewforum.php?f=1&sid=293797fcfaeb6c2cb8a8b512fa8dc3d8
  11. Ok I copied my replies from the other thread. Hope you get enough info from it. Quote:I love mine, have had it for 4 years now. I only have tiled floors. Kelpie hair and plenty of dirt. I do have to clean the brushes out but would rather that than push a ordinary vacuum cleaner round with my back. At least I can clean the brushes sitting down and using a pair of tweezers. the battery lasts about a hour before going back to the charging dock. The brand I have is the I robot. Apparently there is a model for pets, and one that will wash the floor as well. Some models I think you can set a time for it to start cleaning etc. but I don't know anything about those. I only have the basic model and of memory I paid about $500 from Harvey Norman. Quote: Roomba I robot. I have a internet friend from a horse forum that had a cheap brand from Ebay, she only got 12 months from it before falling apart, she now also has A Roomba but a newer model to mine. Quote:Yup newer models to mine can be programed for that. The other thing is most of the parts that might need replacing can be done quite simply, just a few screws and all done. I have replaced the brushes and cassette in mine. Quote:Reasonably noisy on the hard floor but quiet on carpet. (I don't have carpet just a few carpet squares) Quote:Mine goes for over a hour before going back to base. but I recently put a new battery in her. Quote:If the doors are open it will go from room to room. It will vacuum anywhere it can fit, between chairs, under lounge provided lounge is high enough. Its under mine easily. Quote: One thing I found with mine is that Smooch doesn't attack it. The odd time I get the old vacuum cleaner out to dust the skirting boards Smooch is at it all the time trying to grab hold of the end. Quote:I really don't think they are any noisier than any other vacuum cleaner, mine is quite noisy but I have tiled floors with a rubber mat in front the lunge and a carpet square near the bed, when Sadie gets onto these it is pretty quiet. Quote:Mine is about 8cm high so you would need slightly more room, mine gets under the lounge and chairs except for my recliner chair. Quote:It will get caught up in cloths if there is something like ribbon handing from it, the ribbon would end up caught up round the brushes. I haven't had any problems with elect. cords or telephone cords. Sadie did get caught in one of those mop type of brooms that I forgot to remove from the room, one of the tasselie bits got caught around the brush. Quote: It handles kelpie hair without any problems (not sure what you mean by tumbleweeds of dog hair) also Smooch brings a lot of blue metal dust which is fine type of gravel in on his paws when it is damp outside, it also handles this with no problems. So I guess depending on the size of the gravel should be fine. I don't have any kitty litter to try it on.
  12. The OP won't have enough posts to see that thread. OK didn't think of that.
  13. I have a roomba and love it. link to topic on the vacuum's http://www.dolforums.com.au/topic/217636-automatic-vacuums/
  14. I mix some Fidos Flea rinse into a spray bottle and spray anything I can't wash, anything that is washable gets put through a extra rinse cycle with flea rinse added. Probably doesn't kill flea eggs, but I haven't had a problem with fleas for a few years now and don't use anything else on the dogs either.
  15. What about a Flame Weed torch, I haven't used one but they might work. http://www.nextag.com/flame-weed-torch-kit/compare-html
  16. Yes that's what my daughter was quoted. Agree they do need to be able to make some noise.
  17. We had a dog de barked a few weeks ago, we got a nuisance order from council and a affidavit signed by a GP. Our dog is now barking again with sound which our vet said would probably happen but it is not as high pitched as it was. A complete de bark is very expensive, approx $4000 and is done in Sydney at SASH, couldn't afford that one.
  18. I am home 24/7 unless I go shopping which isn't that often these days. Smooch won't drink if I am not home so on hot days can't be left on his own for too long. Normally when I have been gone for the couple of hours, the first thing he does is be all over me than straight to the water bowel. I suppose he has me well trained
  19. Last weekend was the last until the weather cools down. contact the above and they can give you a better idea of dates.
  20. Have tried all three, ultrasonic was useless, spray worked for a week than they would set it off to get the spray so useless after a week. Zapp collar works well but we have to have one with a strong zapp. One dog outsmarted the zapp collar by barking once setting off the tone, continued on with that until the battery was worn out than into the barking again so we do go through quite a few batteries but it does work.
  21. We had one of our Kelpies de-barked, best thing we ever did. We tried everything else to stop the barking. The debark we had done still leaves the dog with a voice but not that piercing bark that goes straight through you. We had to get a letter signed by a JP to have the de barking done. when it was first done a few weeks ago she sounded like a dog with kennel cough, now she has a nice quiet bark but can still enjoy barking without annoying us and neighbors. There is another de barking procedure where it stops the sound altogether but we didn't really chase that option up. She doesn't appear to be effected by having the de barking done, she is still as happy as ever. She is a very hyperactive dog, gets plenty of exercise running with two other dogs. She is the energizer bunny on speed Whe wears the other dogs out and when they decide it is rest time she stands there barking her head off wanting them to play, this goes on for hours. Even when she is playing she had to bark the whole time. We tried all the bark collars on her, she outsmarted them, she would bark enough so the warning sound on the collar would sound, than stop and this went on until she wore the battery out on the collar and than she would be into the barking again.
  22. This is Smoochies bed, if I am lucky I don't get pushed out of bed
