  1. YES all the time.... Oh how I wish I could have another dog :D Or to have my Bella back My babies 3 years ago.... http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/photos-ak-snc1...293384_1700.jpg http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/photos-ak-snc1...293386_2224.jpg I LOVE PUPPIES!!! Specially puppy smell
  2. My boy is quite stubborn, he will push the limits to see how far he can go with people. For example the other night he disparately wanted to go lay on my bed usually he will just run up the stairs and sleep in my room for hours. But this night I said no. For about 30mins he tried his luck trying to sneak up there when he thought I wasn't looking. I told him no several times and for him to get on his blanket he would sit there and whinge at me for a while. Just had to be persistent and he eventually sat there and shut up He knows he can get away with thing with different people.... but not me Ridgebacks are a very headstrong breed that need a hard hand to lead them otherwise they would run a muck.
  3. +1 Our family pet used to snap at me when I was young 1) because I used to tease him (I was around 7) and 2 he thought he was higher in the pack. And this was only when he was around food. I honestly don't know how people would put their pet to sleep for snapping (not biting) a child without trying to solve the issue. Each to there own I guess.
  4. I'm not showing either im going to see all the furry friends :D
  5. Come say Hello to the Xolo and I on Friday or Saturday, be great to meet some DOLers! J Are you going to be there Saturday 14th? Just want to make sure coz I'm going :D who else is going to be there saturday?
  6. ohh so good to hear a happy story for a change thanks for sharing ;)
  7. I have quoted it for you Greytmate you know about as much as I do.... people seem to be missing this bit I didn't miss it, it was the first thing I questioned. I want to know which council has allegedly stopped impounding strays and is ok with finders keeping them. Does that apply to all animals including large livestock? Or do they have a special policy just for pregnant young dogs? I think its probably just the RSPCA Like I said before try out other pounds post her on the lost n found section of the RSPCA website which is actually pretty good.
  8. I have quoted it for you Greytmate you know about as much as I do.... people seem to be missing this bit
  9. But T-time is saying the pound will NOT take her and will put her down and that they can not do anything. T-Time - Maybe contact other pounds in the area and not the RSPCA. After her time is up and if she hasnt been found collect her and then figure out what can be done. PM me if you need any help T-time. ETA: Where was she found? ETA again: I can tell you right now ellz motive was not money purely the fact a very young bitch needs help....
  10. If she need a place that she must go now (ie has to go now or she will be pts) I can take her for a couple days (or weeks) until we find someone experienced in raising new borns and labor as I have absolutely no experience.
  11. Rhodesian Ridgebacks were originally bred for hunting lions which is in a pack of about 3-5 I believe, where they have to work together to herd the lion. My personal experiences show males get along fine with the females and vise versa but same sexes have difficulties (as most dogs do) they do get along great with all dogs tho and have great personalities.
  12. Does anyone know how much the course costs? Or an approximate figure?
  13. Can I ask what your GF's daughter does with her qualifications now?
  14. I don't think there is anyway I could start my own business without a certain income - stupid bills - but that sounds like a great idea!!! I could definitely do that. As I am still very young I could get this qualification and then progress. I think this just may be what I am looking for. Working with animals doing my passion and not having to pts animals. Thanks heaps guys.
  15. What jobs can you apply for? Do you work in the industry now that you have completed the course?
  16. That sounds interesting I have emailed them Hey Monah is says you have to submit your CV. Whats that mean? Does this mean you have to have previous qualifications?
  17. With the NDTF courses where can it lead you? Do you work as your own boss/business or what organizations hire you? Is it kind of easy to get into? Sorry I just don't know alot about this stuff. How long do the courses go for? ETA: 8 months they go for
  18. I am at that stage now where I have been in the work force for a few years earning good money and working for a great company but.... its just not what I dreamed of doing when I was younger or what I dream of doing now. I would love to become involve in animal welfare and rescue. But realistically I don't think its entirely possible. I don't think I could do vet nurse. Or vet. What other jobs are out there? ones that a little more realistic. What are the courses available today? I searched on TAFE and it comes up with a few but what ones are actually worth doing? That you will get recognized for when applying for a job? Is there any online courses available? Whats involved with Canine Chiropractor? How do you get into that? I wouldn't mind Dog trainer....
  19. Work to live well. Volunteer to enhance your quality of life. I recall Dr Reiner Klimke (multiple Olympic gold medalist in dressage) being asked what would be the best advice he could give to any aspiring young dressage riders. "Go out and get a very well paying job" he replied wryly. Dr Klimke was a highly successful lawyer. Most work with dogs won't pay a reasonable mortgage or put your kids through uni. A good career will do all those things and you can do volunteer work with dogs. If you are serious in making a career "one day" out of working with animal do you think its best to do some sort of courses?
