Oh good, I might get one.It may improve the tone of my place.My dogs are sadly lacking morals.Between the lot of them, we have the seven deadly sins + some wrath....don't you dare get on my bed or I'll spit the dummy big time (Connie.) They will lie......nope I did not chew that up...it was that other dog (Poppy) they steal.........was that packet of biscuits you left in the car not for me??Connie or Gracie or Poppy the boy lusts...after any girl including his dam(that's got to be two sins surely?) Boyo sloth...nope I can't go back to work with you after lunch ,I'm exhausted! I 'll just lay here on the lounge and see you when get back(all of them) envy.....ooohhh that bone looks bigger than mine(all of them) pride...I'm so special, no one is as special as me.I have my own fanclub and this is my best side for photos(Connie) gluttony....ooohhh,I don't feel so well after I opened the fridge and ate all that best mince meant for the five puppies(Connie) Greed...these are all my toys, bones,treats whatever and I couldn't possibly share(all of them except Grace who is aptly named!) I need a Christian collie 'cause clearly mine are on the highway to hell.

Unfortunately no distinction between puppy farmers/backyard and ANKC registered breeders given.Vet failed to point out when questioned on the need for regulations that ANKC registered breeders do have COE and these dogs are not being produced by us. Hopefully ANKC public relations will take this up. If not maybe Chi breeders should try and get a bit of air time for themselves and their breed to point out that 'teacup' anything immediately should alert buyers that it must be a designer dog. Unfortunately 'teacup' size dogs may be the next trend.They are being mass produced in Russia in many breeds.No doubt in other countries as well and now in Australia.Not good.

The Kennel Club publishes new code of conduct 08-Aug-11 The Kennel Club has published a new Code of Conduct to remind exhibitors and competitors of their responsibilities whilst taking part in all canine activities and also when discussing shows, trials and events online. Whilst the Kennel Club believes that the overwhelming majority of people taking part in dog activities do so in a responsible and sportsmanlike manner, it is concerned at the increasing number of complaints which it has received about incidents of abuse, in particular through the negative use of social media. The guidance offered in the new Code of Conduct is included to help ensure that everyone participating in dog activities is free to do so in an enjoyable and fun way, especially the dogs themselves. The code is intended for use primarily as a guide, but does outline some of the penalties which the Kennel Club has at its disposal to deal with serious cases of transgression. As such, it should be read in conjunction with relevant regulations as listed in the Kennel Club Year Book. Over recent years, there has been a rapid growth in the use of social media as a form of instant communication and there is a need for those who use Facebook, blogs and chat rooms etc to understand their responsibilities. For this reason, there is a specific section within the Code of Conduct giving general guidelines on participation on social media websites. A word from the Kennel Club Caroline Kisko, Kennel Club Communications Director, said: “Thousands of people take part in a wide range of canine activities, week in week out, because they are a fun way to spend time with their dogs and they get to meet others who share common interests. Undoubtedly, the vast majority do so in a well-mannered and sportsmanlike manner, however rarely a week goes by without the Kennel Club being contacted by someone who feels that they have been abused or slighted in some way by a fellow competitor, either at an event or more frequently through the internet. “As a result, we felt that the time was right to remind everyone involved in the world of dogs that it is essential that anyone who wishes to attend a show, trial or other event should be free to do so without fear of anything which might spoil their enjoyment. The world of dogs is still under great scrutiny and it is important that we continue to show unity in our enjoyment of our hobbies. Microchipping has been brought in as a registration limitation at different times in different states.You agreed to buy the dog unchipped and obviously were aware it was to be done.Were you in a hurry to collect the dog and cut her short of time to get the dog chipped?I bet she is regretting trusting you to do it now. I don't think it gives you the right to consider the contract broken.At least morally. If the contract says you pay for the health testing you should do it.As breeders we are under obligation to produce the healthiest puppies we can.She is doing the right thing for the breeds health wanting this dogs hips tested regardless if he is used at stud or not. The breeder is not responsible for the changes in your families finances either and while obviously now is not the best time for you to have the expense, this is part of responsible pet ownership to factor in the costs involved including the mirochipping you agreed to do.Assuming you are responsible for the testing costs have you explained to the breeder that you are struggling financially? She may well try find a solution that will work for both you.The dog should not need to be put under a GA to collect semen. Freezing semen is not cheap and it would make prefect sense that she would want to know his scores before she went to the expense of collecting him. Breeders are constantly under pressure to be responsible and pet owners who agree to conditions like health testing for a reduced purchase price need to play their part as well!

Some help naming a litter please. prefix is 6 letters. Dam is prefix sweet elite sire is ST Agness I would ideally like to keep the sweet theme for the girls(5)but have been thinking about sugar as well.We have a sugar & spice and one of the puppy buyers hads called their girl sweet pea.Would like to keep the boys (2)as saints if possible.I need to register the pups tomorrow and have a head freeze. If you have bought the puppy please just ignore but a lot of the breeders I know in that area use Vicki at Tuggerah Vet Hospital and find her very good.

I prefer to use Jet Pets because I had a couple of issues with Dogtainers with them turning up with wrong size crates ect. No doubt their are many folks who have had the opposite experience.Jet pets has always met the price of Dogtainers for me if it has been lower.

If puppy has aspirated you will need vet assistance ASAP.If They will deal with the constipation as well.There are methods of dealing with the constipation at home but I think the combination of aspiration and constipation warrant a vet visit.Have the puppies access to fresh water? If not they need it.Pick up some electrolytes and make up as directed.Puppies are not very resilient to pain so you need to act. A lot of people I know feed their pups solids and fluids separately so the pups are less likely to aspirate.Hope your little one is ok.

In the vets defence she may be suggesting this treatment knowing how concerned you are about Lola and may be trying to give you a definitive answer, knowing that you will find any cost acceptable if it helps Lola.If the treatment she is suggesting would give you the answer that would stop Lola having the problem again is another question.It may well be narrow ear canals are just a part of being Lola.Write yourself a list of questions to ask the vet at Werribee. I have recently had a bitch come home with a terrible ear.Usually Vet visit and yeast diagnosed.It was so bad that the vet couldn't see down to her ear drum,it was literally full of gunk and in a terrible way. He told me by this stage her ear drum would probably be ruptured anyway.Two and a half weeks later of treatment and it's all good.He did tell me to prepared to treat the ear for 6 weeks.I'll take in a swab to see how we are going this week.He did suggest an ear flush would be on the cards but wanted me to try treatment first.He also recommended are 1:30 malaseb dilution to use as an ear cleaner. So what your vet is suggesting seems excessive to me.Even if my girls ear drum is ruptured I haven't noticed any difference in her at all.That said it is your dog so you have to do what you are comfortable with.Most vets would be capable of doing an ear flush at reasonable cost and if it was me I would probably be starting there rather than a MRI.Perhaps seek a second opinion for reassurance before you proceed?

Have you tried Xalatan? My bitch is on it for glaucoma and her specialist thinks it is one of the most effective treatments and it works well for her.The down side is the cost.

A friends husband in WA had a puncture wound and she sent him off to the doctor for a tetanus shot and he came home without it as he wes over 55,I thought it was strange......

Yes ,all the others will be done.It will be quite an exercise.There is no way I am going to risk this again.Bonnie is up and down.She seemed to be doing well and then last night looked suddenly worse.Her temp spiked a bit and she wasn't happy.Her eyes were shocking again as well. She looks better again today so it's wait and see . Does anyone know how long it will be before the risk of her suddenly going into a decline are over?We are a week into tratment now. I was also told today that humans don't get tetanus shots once you are over 55.Anybody know why this would be?

Well done on getting the professional help you required.It sounds as though being a little thug is how Missy has got through life up until now.Please just keep in mind that even muzzled she could hurt a little dog badly by hitting them with the muzzle or just by knocking them around.Not all dogs will be resilient as the terrier you met tonight.Nor will other owners appreciate her being aggressive with their dogs. Muzzle or not I'm not sure an off lead park ,off lead is the place for Missy yet.Being a thug she will probably target dogs that do show fear of her and that's no fun for the other dog and reinforce that Missy's bad behaviour. Even if there are no dogs about when you arrive ,she has already proved her powers of observation are better than yours! You have made a commitment to work with Missy so give her the best chance of rehabilitation by not giving her the opportunity to reinforce her bullying behaviour. I have a fiery little bully bitch here that can be DA with other girls if they get in her face and honestly I would no sooner let her off lead at a park than I would sprout wings and fly even muzzled. Her manners are perfect on lead with other dogs so why let her have the opportunity to injure or bully another dog? Exercise her on lead for the time being and you both will benefit.You will be fitter and she will be better behaved.How are you on rollerblades???LOL Also I would be very cautious about leaving the two dogs alone together.Spats can very quickly turn to serious fights and if does and one or both are seriously hurt you will kick yourself.Separate them and let them interact when you can supervise and make sure Missy's behaviour is appropriate. I'm curious if Stuart was concerned about them being alone together?Since he has observed the dogs if he felt they were ok together I would bow to his superior knowledge. We really tend to over romanticise our dogs needs to have doggy 'friends' and to 'run free' with their doggy friends. We have to aware that is not a suitable scenario for all dogs so we have to recognise it, do what we can to adjust the behaviour and then manage it.It is a huge commitment and sometimes a pain in the backside managing a socially difficult dog but very possible to have a perfectly happy dog without them having our perception of a perfect doggy dream life. Thank you Rappie for the information.It seems that the dogs here that have been affected have had massive doses of anti toxin and that was the plan for my girl as well.I guess if the dog is really ill vets take the chance on the anti toxin having some positive effect? It sounds as though we are following the best treatment protocol for my girl and we can't do anymore for her for the time being.She is in a warm dark room with a massive amount of cushy bedding. Sounds as though poor Whitey had an awful experience with tetanus as well.Poor fellow .This is my first case of tetanus.I just wish I had gone with my gut feeling to vac. when I was asking vets about it earlier.Hindsight is not particularly helpful though. We have varied soil types here one of them is clay.Decision has been made to vac. all the dogs

Try soaking the paw in warm water with a splash of pino clean in it .He will not get relief until it bursts or he is treated with antibiotics. I have one that was prone to them and I have her on zinc and it seems to have helped considerably.
