And I see a Rally-O ring is being set up. Okie doke, gonna see if I can come down and give that a go!

Just looked at the catalogue for tomorrow's obedience trial - WOW Great numbers!! And lots of "debuts". I'm thinking I may come down to watch if I have no other plans Looks like it's going to be a good one!! Bummed I'm not entered, but there was nothing really to enter. Millie needs a different judge as she already has 2 CDX passes under Frank, who is judging Open again tomorrow

You just sound vet fussy I'm glad your mum had a good experience, too. It makes the world of difference at a time you really need it. I'm glad you found a good vet, too This was the first time we had been to this clinic as well. Yep. I would prefer to have a vet that I see all the time so they know my dogs, which I know you have. My old clinic didn't provide that. This new one isn't a chain vet so is likely to have only a few of the same vets on, and it is still local (probably closer to me than the old one). Mum is going to take Pippa here, too, and has her booked in for her shots already.

OMG Teddy  That poodle has some nice speed on it, shame it uses it do make up its own course -
Glad to hear this! Can't wait to get out there with my newest agility project, little Pippa, a mini schnauzer! I currently trial two Labs and they do well enough and are competitive against other breeds definitely in Novice and Excellent levels. One of mine is fast and would be competitive at Masters level too if she had a handler/trainer who was experienced. Unfortunately for her, I am her downfall and we won't be competitive at that level when we get there

And you can't get any worse than the vet most of us know I am referring to. Won't go to them again. We called them first and they said they could only fit us in at 1.30, 2 and a half hours after the phone call. Didn't matter that Chloe was in pain and needed her suffering to end.....
-
Ouch, sorry you had a bad time with them. I think for anything serious, I will go to Applecross vet, but routine stuff might try up there. We had a good experience (as good as you can get under the circumstances) because there was no "investigation" needed, they were compassionate and it impressed us.

Thanks for posting the poems, ozjen and Mas, they are very sweet I can't read the rainbow bridge one without getting teary. I just want to say how impressed I am with Kenwick Vet Hospital. They were very caring and did not rush us at all. The vet was lovely throughout the entire trip and whispered nice things to Chloe as she sent her on her way, as mum and I were too much of a balling mess to say much (the most I could do was stroke her head and tell her I loved her). So I think I have found my new vet clinic for routine things. My "usual" local one change their vets more often than I change my underwear (and I shower at least once a week I swear ;)) and are very impersonal.

I think it would probably be best for your dog's safety if you eat all the remaining chocolate in the house now. I bought a block tonight and put it in the fridge. Think I best go eat it in case my Labs get into the fridge while I sleep tonight :D mrs ts, glad to hear Archie seems to be doing ok! But yes, you definitely need to go and buy another block and eat 3/4 of it, it's only logical ;)

Thanks everyone We are doing well. She is in a better place, now. We are getting her cremated, too. Looking for a memorial plaque online, so if anybody has seen any nice ones around, I'd love a link, thanks. And yep, I wouldn't mind erasing August 2011 too. Too much loss (and I could easily have skipped turning 30 )

RIP little Chloe xx March 16, 1994 - August 18, 2011. Run free with Dinky, Chelsea, Truman and Boofman

skipping along with the grin is how I see Ruby in agility, too Millie is just psycho, and my handling needs to be much neater with her because if I don't let her know where she's going with clear signals, she makes the course up on her own I had soooooooooooooo much fun handling them both in JDX on the weekend. The course was awesome and it just felt so nice to run! -

I'm having a ball running my dogs and get a buzz when I trust them enough to run as fast as I can and in turn they run fast for me! I do need to trust them more on weaves, though. Got a fair bit of training to do with those so that they nail the entry at least 8 times out of 10! Right now it's about a 5 or 6 But gosh I am pretty excited to start training mum and dad's mini schnauzer in agility. She is a mad tugger at home and so fast for a littley that she has been nicknamed Ninja so I am hoping I don't ruin her and she keeps up the speed in training and tugs in public! She's only 10 or 11 weeks old at the moment so obviously haven't had her out at training grounds yet. We start agility puppy classes in term 4 and I can't wait :D She's so damn fiesty -
That is pretty girly!! How much do you want for it? ST, I don't have a green slip lead, maybe you are thinking of someone else? I have a purple one and a brown one, then the ones I use for agility are my black/pink and black/purple ones. I should really use the purple and brown ones, they are thinner and lighter!

Yep, it's called the garage/shed! I have several shelves in the garage of dog stuff (old and new toys, leads, old bowls, etc) and 2 shelves in my linen cupboard are now taken over by dog things. I'm not obsessed with buying dog things, honest! Speaking of dog things, I got a card in my mailbox yesterday for a parcel to pick up at the post office! I suspect it's the Alphabet Drills book/CD Now to arrange to distribute to everyone.... and nope, I won't be at the trials this weekend, sorry!!
-
I still have the lead/collar sets I bought from BP&G when I got Millie and they are still lingering as my every day lead (I love them cos they are light and mum chopped them down for me to a nice short length). But I bought nice ones from etsy in America for obedience trials. Agility trials I use rope slip leads I bought, that Ptolomy called "horse leads" and funny enough, they were custom made by people who make horse products ;) Now I want nice tuggy leads from Rush to Tug and a nice light and shorter rope slip lead for retrieving. I want a pretty hot pink one and I plan on getting me some hot pink Hunter wellies to match so we'll be looking all spiffy when I eventually trial, who cares if the dogs fails

I'm sorry I asked about the AGM now....

I love the look of the slip leads from Rush to Tug: http://www.rushtotug...-slip-lead.html My favourite colour combos so far are the Layney, Bubblegum Machine and Sittin on a Cloud :D I like Bubblegum Machine :D Just have to decide if I want the martingale or the slip lead. Pay day tomorrow Slips are easier to put on :D Pay day for me tomorrow, too! -

At least I get to walk a real course - that will be interesting because the thing that is scaring me about agility is the complex order and layout of obstacles and trying to remember! I remember stewarding for agility long before I started training in it. I would keep swaying between should I do agility or not. It looked like fun, but watching the handlers walk the course was so very daunting that I decided for a while that it wasn't for me. I finally decided to get over myself and at least enrol in some classes. Now it isn't daunting but a heap of fun! We're at Excellent level now (and happy to stay there for a while ) and never thought I'd get there, let alone with Labs. But my two are doing quite well. Just LOVED the JDX course we ran last weekend. Ruby got a clear round (to make it her 3rd JDX quallie) and Millie handled the course just as beautifully but knocked a bar due to a last minute decision to do a front cross. Bugger :p I definitely recommend walking as many courses as judges will allow you before you compete. It gives you a chance to nut out in your head how you'd handle the course if you were running it -

Sounds like doing both jobs at once (or even one), you won't get a chance to watch the runs closely, sorry to break it to you I love being backup timer, that way you DO get to watch the runs ;) I refuse to be scribe! It's the only job I haven't done. -

Choosing A Dog For Dog Sports?
RubyStar replied to skip's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
My first love are Labs, and I choose them before the sport. We have fun in agility and are doing reasonably well! We won't be competitive at masters level, but that is ok with me I want an Aussie Shepherd next, but I want to pursue retrieving some more, so it brings me back to Labs! I like the look of the show lines (kept lean), so I will get another show line Lab for retrieving even though I know a working line would be much better suited.
