Great photos!! And yay for Louis!!! Looks like a nice place, is this your property RV? -
So the hole doesn't close easily? I got mine as a gift to myself for losing weight. I've been wanting to get myself a small tattoo on my hip, dog related of course, but haven't come up with the right design/size/exact spot to put it yet so I keep putting it off!

Bummer you won't be there, RV The State trial has a nice atmosphere about it (read and ) Can't wait as it will be a night time trial, and my first obedience trial since July

Woohoo!!!!!!!!!! :D No worries Good luck! I'm addicted now, decided I'm going to try making a bunch of different things. Went and bought a bunch of paracord from ebay to have a go at making a slip lead for retrieving, and when I find some cheap polar fleece in nice colours I will make more tug toys and maybe a lead, too If mine closed up I'm not sure I would get mine done again, it hurt too much! I got it done in 2003 I think so it's doing well so far I rarely take it out to clean it properly as I hate getting it back in, and when it's out my belly looks too naked and weird!!

Congrats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

Used this approach, but first tied 4 strands in a knot, then started from there.

Proud of myself! Made my first tug toy :D

Great interview! I especially liked the part where you mentioned dogs should be on lead unless in a designated area etc etc, shows that not all dog folk are irresponsible twats and some of us actually are responsible and are just as jacked off with the irresponsible owners who make the rest of us look bad!

Keen To Start Competing In Agility
RubyStar replied to krustie22's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
I won't be doing ADAA, either. The weekends I don't have ANKC trials on, I could really spend doing the housework that gets neglected all the other weekends While I love trialling, I do love trial free weekends when I can go about "normal" things and have a bit of a life outside trialling! -

I'm starting to regret trialling my two! It's not uncommon for me to spend $80+ on one weekend of trialling! Then bring in multiple sporting disciplines, it gets to be a very costly hobby -
Tumbleweed, Kyte looks lovely! And yes, Aussies are MUCH easier to train than Sibes I forgot to comment on Kyte - so pretty!! Congrats on your new addition! I love Aussies :D

There's a postgrad course I have my eye on but at $15k, not sure I will ever get there! (need to get my undergrad degree first so I'm a little ahead of myself )

I'm so glad to hear that OT was easier to transfer into than Speech! Because it's OT that I ideally want And yep, if I get into anything, it is most likely going to be Psych as it takes the lowest ATAR score of the 3 and no prerequisites. And yes I like how broad OT is. As one of the staff said at the Open Day, one degree, so many career paths!!

I think some of us who don't have a set goal for a career at school age need to experience "real life" to know what we want to do. There is no shame in not leaving school and getting a uni degree, especially if you have no idea what you want to do with that degree! Now that I've done a little bit of travel (not nearly enough!), worked full time for a bit, and out on my own with noone to answer to or mould me, I've "found myself" (as cliché as that sounds!) and now I know what I want to do. I have my dogs to thank for a lot of this, they gave me a hobby and direction in life! And some people think they're "just dogs". Nope!!!

Thanks As soon as I can decide on my preference order, my application will be submitted! I have til the end of the month to decide. Well I desperately want to train dogs for blind people now but realise that is next to impossible to get into (got as close as I was going to get last year, down to top 20 applicants for a cadetship in Melbourne, but wasn't meant to be). So instead of wasting my life away in a job I really don't care for (I realise this is a public forum but oh well!) I had to think of something else that would interest me. Helping people get back to their daily activities that we take for granted interests me, and of course the guide dog thing led me to an interest in wanting to help the vision impaired in general mobility and day to day activities. So we'll see where it takes me. It's just really nice to have a goal You haven't noticed I talk way too fast and get my words mixed up? :p and no, it's not due to alcohol (though that doesn't help! ) Well if you can find me a sugar daddy to pay my mortgage while I study full time, give them my number ;) Shame about the vet dream - but it's never too late!! I know it would be hard with kids, but if it's a passion, you will find a way to make it work I like the range of ages and groups of people who take on study for different reasons. At least you know the mature age students are there because they genuinely want to learn, as opposed to some school leavers who are going because their parents made them. I want to experience campus life at uni but realistically, I should be doing my first year externally due to work. At some stage I'm going to have to go full time, there is no choice (especially in 4th year), but I will worry about how to pull that off when the time comes!

I'm so sorry to hear this, how awful for you Thankyou for the reminder that most of us need every now and then. Off to give my girls a big hug

Hope the school takes you on! Sounds great I had no idea what I wanted to be when I "grew up" so I never went to Uni after year 12, I went to TAFE instead and did a generic admin course as I thought I could always fall back on that. During that course, I found my passion in IT but still had no desire to go to Uni so I did a 2 year diploma in IT. Now almost 6 years in IT, I need a change! And I'm at the point in my life now where I would actually like to have a degree, feel some sort of self accomplishment I would really like to quit full time work and study full time to have my degree in 4 years as opposed to 8! But I don't want to lose my house so part time study/full time work is the only way I can keep the house. My TAFE course is totally useless. Modules in there that are pointless and ugh, so yes I understand what you mean! I also realise uni is going to be very full on and different to TAFE - TAFE handhold way too much for my liking, so I feel no sense of accomplishment doing this course. My diplomas were challenging, but this is a cert III and not providing me any mental stimulation whatsoever. I am interested in Occupational Therapy, with the ultimate goal to eventually work with the vision impaired in mobility. But as OT is so varied, I am open to my goals changing as other areas become more interesting. I am not sure my year 12 Human Biology meets the science prerequisite for OT as it was so long ago, so if I don't get into that I will be putting Speech Pathology and Psychology down as preferences. They all have common units in the first year so I will tackle the first year first and then see about transferring to OT But Speech Pathology interests me, too! Except I have my own troubles with speaking sometimes (though I realise Speech Pathology involves more than just speaking difficulties, just like Psychology is more than just about listening to people's problems!) Wow sorry guys for the major Off Topic and life story!!!! See above

That's the part about being a teacher that entices me, all the holidays they get! But I don't think I could handle children Best of luck with it! How long is the course? Are you a qualified teacher's aid after you get the tafe certificate? I'm enrolling in uni next year, eeeek!! I've decided to give tafe the flick, the course I am doing won't get me anywhere. But my previous tafe diplomas got me the job I'm in now and have allowed me entry to uni so yay :D Now I have to figure out how to handle full time work, part time study, and maintain dog activities!! But I am really looking forward to it (and will hold onto that excitement for as long as I can because I know it won't be long before I'm over all the assignments and exams!)

Thanks ST - we decided that she could get them done when she was old enough to make the decision herself whether she wanted her ears pierced or not and out of the blue at breakfast this morning she asked if she could :D I would really appreciate the name of the place your sister & niece went to, thanks! I got my belly pierced at The Piercing Place in Freo. Besides it hurting like hell it went smoothly. I remember getting my ears done at the chemist all those years ago, it was the place to go!

What are you studying at TAFE?

I'm so glad someone else mentioned this. When I got the email, alarm bells immediately rang for me. Not filling this one out that's for sure. They don't ask for your name or address. The focus isn't on health anyway. I wasn't concerned about name or address (but good to know they don't ask that), but I still can't help being a bit apprehensive to fill it out

Is It Ok To Give A Young Dog A Deer Antler?
RubyStar replied to ruthless's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
The only issue I've had with them is having them dropped on my feet! Your Mason did it the first time, then Ruby did it a second time - ouchies!!!!
