  1. Little brag from team Labrador today  Ruby and Millie got a pass each today in the novice RATG, earning Millie her NRA title We don't get many RATG's in WA so Millie's title today is the first novice one for WA. Not bad for a dog not allowed to enter the real thing due to no papers! :) I guess I have some training to do to enter her in the Open one in October!
  2. You're an inspiration kath, especially with the obedience side of things. You've come so far with Coco, I hope those OC legs come easy! UD for me is doing my head in!
  3. Woooohoooo congrats to you and Coco!! Well done :D
  4. I'm so glad Rosie was found!!! Phew. Hope things are still going well with Louis, CC So very sad to hear about Jenna Poor ozjen Long shot, but putting this out there just in case for my friend. Her parents are moving from interstate and doing a bit of travelling and need to rehome their 12-13yo Aussie Terrier..... anyone know of anyone looking for a senior citizen to spoil for his remaining years?
  5. OMG cutest dog ever! We used to have a yorkie and he certainly wasn't anywhere near that adorable She almost stepped on the little thing when she ran off in that last clip
  6. Ruby got her 2nd Masters Jumping pass yesterday, and Millie got her first :) Millie was close to an ADX pass, just missed a jump, bugger But I was thrilled to bits with her run :)
  7. Yes she's had those but nothing really agrees with her. i keep reintroducing stuff hoping this time will be ok but nope! She had 2 chicken wings for breakfast on Sunday morning and a few chicken necks for dinner Monday night. I was awoken at 6.30am Tuesday morning to a dog throwing up bone shards on my carpet! Noice.
  8. Thanks for the replies My dogs like nylabones, but haven't had them in years. Might go and buy some, actually. The dog who can't eat bones (constantly vomiting up bone shards or getting severely constipated) doesn't like carrot The one who eats bones like carrots, and funny that she is actually the one with tartar. The non-bone/carrot eater has sparkling teeth. Go figure Yes they do like the deer antler and didn't find any issues with those, but the dogs are inside during the day and smashing a deer antler around on the wood floors doesn't sit well with me
  9. What do people recommend for dogs who cannot have raw bones? What are people's thoughts on nylabones?
  10. Not completely scent-free, but certainly haven't taught them to track my exact steps back in tracking form. I introduced it from a start peg, walk a couple of steps and drop it, about turn, "find". Increase the distance, add a turn in, etc. They know it's a "find" game, whether they track by sight or scent, or sometimes both. Once they knew the find it game, I'd throw it into the long grass in the backyard without them looking (sometimes with little light) and then ask them to find it. Both sight and scent come into the game, they love it. How do you train it? Interested to hear how others train their seekback!
  11. Probably very very wrong but I haven't trained seekback as a scent exercise No need when it stands out like dogs balls usually on our grounds. That does cause its own issues though when there are other things on the ground. Ruby sees something dark on the ground and gets excited cos she thinks she's found it, only to discover it was a leaf or twig Then she sets off again. I also have no plans on doing UDX with her (can't get a bloody pass in UD so I'd be crazy to ever think of doing UDX!!) so that's why I haven't bothered with any scenting with it. May approach it differently with Pippa if we ever make it to the trialling ring and she does ok at the trialling caper.
  12. Welcome Aussielover and Mindy! Glad she enjoys it :) We do RATG's, they are a lot of fun. Yep TSD, we will continue with some training and the RATG's as the dogs think retrieving is the best fun ever, so even if we won't ever trial, we will still have some fun doing some training. I'd like to trial again, but the likelihood of that happening is extremely slim due to the hard mouth. Such a shame, Ruby loves it. Now if only I could rent a dog or 2! Or fake some papers for Millie because she goes nuts for retrieving Great photos, RV!! rubyroo, good luck with your next training session DOGS!! That's all I can say! :p
  13. Great segment! I used to watch that in grade 5 and we'd have to write a report on one of the news items each week! Blast from the past, that show must be old  The current reporters probably weren't even born when I used to watch it :p
  14. WOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! WAY TO GO, SCOOTA!!!! :cheer: I foresee lots of cake and champers at training Congrats :D
  15. Congrats Wobbly on scoring your handler spot! I've got a working spot at the Perth seminar and don't know who to take! I want to take Ruby because I really need Denise's help with motivation and drive with Ruby, but Ruby can really embarrass me with how little drive she has. Or do I take Pippa, who is a hoot to work with, to ensure I stay on the right track with her?! I don't want to "ruin" Pippa, I want to keep it light and fun, even when things don't go to plan! Regardless, I'm really looking forward to the seminar, too :D
  16. Tassie :p Lovely to read about, TSD. I shall live out my retrieving dreams through your posts, as we won't be heading back :) I'd love to see any videos of Em's runs if you ever get any filmed!
  17. Fantastic morning at Whistlepipe Gully this morning with 5 dogs! Gorgeous day for it. Here is a photo of 4 of them having a ball in one section of the abundance of water play choices!
  18. Wow well done RV! You kept that one hush hush :D Congrats xena98! Hey Tassie, one of the reasons I thought I couldn't move to Tassie would be lack of trials... but you seem to be trialling more frequently than the rest of us so that excuse has gone out of the window!!!
  19. Congrats, TSD and Em!!! Hope you're ready for All Age :D :D
  20. Thanks, I figured that out not long after Think it's the place I went to with you that one time. Going tomorrow if anyone wants to join us. Message me for details if interested :) Thanks TheLBD, another place I think I want to try!
  21. Lesmurdie Falls?? Is that offlead dog friendly?
  22. There was a DOL meet YEARS ago at some place with a waterfall or something which I didn't go to, does anyone remember the name of that place? I think it's where ozjen slipped or something If I have that part wrong I'm sorry ozjen, it just rings a bell is all
  23. Thanks for the recommendation! I might have to try that place sometime :) Glad to hear Louis is doing well! Sucks about the steroids side effects, though
  24. Can anyone recommend a good walking trail, bush or otherwise of decent length, that is relatively quiet and allows/is safe for offlead dogs?
  25. So I took the little black ninja to training last night in a new environment for a change of scenery. Don't want her getting too used to just the one training grounds, as we do both obedience and agility in the same place every week! It seems the only cross I can do with the Labs are front crosses because I am always out in front of them, so it shouldn't come as a surprise that I am failing miserably with timing my front crosses with the ninja! She zooms right past and behind me because I can only get in place to execute them as she's already flying over the jump So I re-ran that same small sequence trying a rear cross and a blind cross. Rear cross worked nicely, but feels weird to me as I can't do them with the Labs. Pippa is capable of them which excites me greatly :D The blind cross worked too, but she still went wide, so those need work. I don't feel comfortable with blind crosses, so those will only be used in emergencies I think, unless I train them better Had much fun with her last night, even though we had icicles on our eyebrows it was that cold!!! Typical baby dog though, what a contact suck
