  1. I think you will find many of us are of the opinion that the OP's family situation as it currently stands would fall into this category when we are talking about a LABRADOR puppy. Hence the recommendation for either an adult Lab or a puppy of a more manageable breed. I cannot understand how a breeder, knowing the details someone presents like 4 very young children with plans for more on the way, would be recommending a Labrador PUP for their situation? I'm baffled.
  2. Have to agree. I got Millie at 2 years old and within a couple of years she had several obedience titles and agility titles. She is at the same level of training now as Ruby, who I got 2 years prior as a puppy. Millie was able to dive straight into training because she had the adult abilities to concentrate and learn
  3. Yup there is one in Mandurah and soon one in Currambine i believe After you talking about it Candice, I'd still like to try it!
  4. WHAT? So our Greek food will be made by South Africans??? Greek south africans lol Well there are so many types of Australians, so why not?
  5. Can't you come without him? What if you bite???? I don't drive at night especially in freo or perth i have bad eyesight in the dark and i not sure i can get a baby sitter for the three terrors sorry But you were going to need a babysitter when it was you and your OH coming? Grab a lift with one of us. Go on, be an independent woman and come out without hubby attached!
  6. Nah I didn't even listen to what you were talking about, but you were so deep in conversation I didn't want to disturb, so I went and occupied myself with something else You snubbed me! :p Yep she is super hyper but as I've never had a terrier I can't compare! She's definitely more "full on" than a Lab puppy, but in a way that can't hurt you or destroy things Worst part is her sharp puppy teefies but she's getting better about not biting now and surely she should be teething soon?? She's approx 4.5 months old. When do puppies teeth? I know, and I commented on how he was so big already, we must have sounded like loonies Well..... Just like she fabricated having an "OH"
  7. This is when we needed to bring crates ;) Though, Pippa would probably bark/squeak the whole time. At least when she was out she was quiet. She kept looking at the dog who wouldn't stop barking but didn't get upset or aroused by it, she just kinda looked at it as if to say why on earth are you carrying on like a pork chop? I rewarded her when she looked at me, but I might also try the LAT game
  8. Another Pippa? Oh no! Going to be confusing What type of dog was it? I only met a couple of dogs last night. One was very submissive to Pippa (the black GR x), another (a BC) Pippa looked a bit weary of as it was boisterous, too! But overall, she wasn't phased by the new environment, and all the dogs and people she could greet!
  9. I saw a Territory in person last night with a dog in the back and a cargo barrier. While I didn't get close up to it, I did get a good enough look to see that it didn't look as big as I thought/was hoping.
  10. I did? I only recognise people by their dogs Yep Booker was "boxing" all the puppies in pup class- he is all legs He loved the little cav- but just about squashed it He met his match with bedazzleds pup though- about the only other puppy that was bigger than him :D Think I had the smallest puppy! But greeting the bigger dogs didn't phase her, shes a bully to my Labs!!
  11. Why does everyone think obedience is boring? You can so easily MAKE IT FUN!
  12. This is when having Dock Diving a mainstream dog sport in Australia would be good!!
  13. I'm used to training/trialling Labradors, but I am going to try my hand at training/trialling a miniature schnauzer. This is going to be interesting, and a lot of fun
  14. Awesome Meh, you can't fit it all in I forfeit almost all of my agility training to do obedience
  15. Away from home grounds? Since when is NS the first trial of the year? I thought it was SR? I've never trialled at NS before so maybe I am just confused OK, it's a deal, especially since you are ever so nice and are going to help me and blondie be ready, right? ;)
  16. They know jumps probably too well, and want to take the jump on the way out there ;) And their distance work in agility is lacking, so taking a jump "over there" when they could come directly to me for a reward is more appealing as it's the faster route :p
  17. Well once we have directed jumping happening, I think I won't feel so about entering. It's the only exercise we haven't trained yet (the jump part of it). The other exercises she knows or has had exposure to, though not trial ready, and we could try winging it
  18. Think Soggy will be ready before Ruby But definitely keep me in the loop with when you anticipate debuting her and I might be swayed to "just do it" because it's not like I expect anything out of it Edit: My plans so far are to debut her in a night trial. Don't need to add to the stress by entering a daytime trial. She will run out of puff shortly into it if it's during the day! So it's either going to happen early in the new year or late in the new year!
  19. I could join you, MG, Pippa is on Mains, I could show her Shame she isn't really in a schnauzer cut ;)
  20. I didn't run my own 2 in agility last night at 8pm because I didn't want to be there til late to pack up. What a fail. I ended up doing obedience and still didn't leave until most of the agility equipment was packed up!
  21. I've been busy training for UD, with varying degrees of success (and failures). Ruby is moving along nicely, leaving Millie in her dust With Ptolomy's help on Monday we did scent work with distractions laid out around the pile. She at one stage picked up a 1m piece of pvc pipe and I thought she was going to bring that back to me, but she was a good girl and spat it out and found the right article She got all 3 articles, too I tried it again last night but went one step too far. I put an isqueak in the pile Yeah... that was never going to work I then put it halfway between me and the pile and she then ignored it, to again nail all 3 articles Gloves need some major work! Had someone call us a round of signals heelwork and Ruby didn't miss a single position :D But I would have DQ'd because I said "heel" at the start peg We won't be trialling in UD this year, we'll hopefully debut next year if training stays on track. 3 more trials left for the year for me so we'll just do Open
  22. You too! Pippa had a BALL meeting new dogs and people! And so far she loooooooves her tug so that made it all the more fun! She was chasing after it like a dog on crack I'm looking forward to progressing with her Good to hear!
  23. Not that I have experience with it, but I currently have 2 desexed girls and my next dog is very likely going to be a boy (likely to remain entire, at least for a few years) My breeder keeps multiple entire girls and only a single entire boy at a time. She never has any problems.
  24. Horse poo? I best not bring Ruby then!! She would devour it ALL!!!!!!! You could always hold your reception there?
  25. Some of us spend a lot of time trying to get it, why on earth would you want to take it out of a dog, even if it means a slightly less polished performance?!
