Congrats on the new addition, Ptolomy! :D Is she a puppy or an older girl? How do you pronounce her name? I know it looks simple enough, but there are so many twists and variations you can throw on the name Chica! :) I can't wait to meet her Edit: wrote that before seeing your latest post, so disregard the age question!!

Were you training your kid or your dog?

IF (big IF) I make it to Nationals, I may be looking for a SPDX partner, too. Millie needs 1 more SPD pass. But she can be quite a lunatic sometimes, so we'll either not get our last novice pass, or we'll get into excellent and completely let our partner down (if we find one!!!)

Oh no, don't tell me that!! I haven't started much agility training with young Pippa yet and am a bit scared to start any sort of contact work until I have decided how I want to go about it. Would prefer a 2o2o but I don't really know how to teach it properly. Millie stops "somewhere" near the end of the contact but I haven't been successful yet in a proper solid 2o2o (might help if I actually trained more ) So I'd like to be armed with a bit more info before I ruin train another dog!! -

I will be trying a pair on before I buy of someone whose feet are similar size to mine. They have the Huntress though, and are short like me so Huntress might be the go for me afterall because the originals go too far up behind the knee.... we'll see! -
RV, towards end of March is fine with me if it saves us each a bit of money :) I can order middle of March and you can pay me when they arrive if you prefer? I'm also going to look into other styles before I purchase, so no huge rush! Definitely won't be ordering until March sometime anyway! (Time for others to come on board with us perhaps? ;)) Edit: except I am not sure how long the 20% off is for on Amazon...

I am looking on Amazon.co.uk for Hunter wellies, and for one pair the shipping is about $22. Combining with someone, for 2 pairs, about $12 each. For 3 pairs, about $8.50 each. For 4 pairs, about $6.80 each. And so on. Amazon also currently have a lot of them reduced, plus an extra 20% off. The pair I am looking at will only be about £41 If any of you WA folk are interested in a pair of Hunter wellies, it sounds like a good deal if we combine an order. Head to Amazon.co.uk and have a look, and let me know if you're interested! Nice bright colours there, too :D

Thanks fetchindawgs. How much on average does a pair cost you with shipping? I found a website that will cost me about $100AUD including shipping, which I thought was pretty good. http://www.countryattire.com I don't have very big calves (thighs are another story, though ) so maybe the original Hunter's will be fine. I was just concerned about having short legs, the website said the original can pinch behind the knees. Now, what bright colour will I go for?! :D :D Black, nah!! -
Nah I can't enter DWD because you need your sequin outfit back for your routine with Trixie! What would I wear!?

Can you please remind me again on Sunday night? Thanks guys. Ruby's just having a bit of a rough trot at the moment, but does so with her waggy tail and happy face. She's one special girl that one xx She'll be fine :) Is anyone else getting that rain? It's started to spit a few big drops here in the south, but it's not very heavy yet. Fingers crossed we get a lovely downpour tonight!!

Poor Boots Hope he is on the mend, soon! I've had some not so nice vet bills this week, too, along with some sleepless nights. Dogs, who'd have em!!!! Me

What about some poor judges! I'm sure half the time they aren't sure they called it right on super fast dogs! -

Each year I say I am going to buy new wellies and each year I continue to wear my Kmart cheapies I am looking at buying a pair of Hunter's online but I am not sure if I should get the original tall Hunter's or a pair of Huntress that have slightly wider calf width and don't go up as high (or so I read!) Does anyone have any first hand experience/advice about the two types? Would the shorter Huntress be ok for retrieving? Are they still tall enough if I need to wade through some pretty deep water (without the aid of the full leg length kit that I would also like to invest in at some point, but trying to save money!) Thanks! :) -

Have to agree with dasha. Can't believe she's charging for the privilege of being her guinea pigs! And agree with amypie, why would you want to spend 5k on something that really is just a hobby. -
Is it still going? Yikes, bummer that it's a Sunday night and not a Saturday night! Crossing my fingers for you, mirawee! Saw your news on facebook :) Congrats!!!

Oh no, I totally forgot about POTY tonight! I was going to go down and watch and give support and cheers :) Hope you all that are attending have fun and best of luck! I can hear the wind picking up quite a lot outside so I hope it's nice and cool for you all down there. Last night at agility we ended up getting a nice breeze towards the end of the night, but it started off a stinker! It was a late night, not leaving until 12.50am I only had Millie entered and she certainly didn't lack speed or enthusiasm even in the heat, but she surely lacked accuracy!!! She had a ball so it was all ok, but I am definitely looking forward to us partaking in lessons this term!! We really need it The whole night wasn't a complete loss, we did win the best team name prize

I think I know what you're trying to say, wuffles. I have a fantastic relationship with my dogs, they are my world, but sometimes they aren't the fantastically attentive and drivey dogs in the ring so from the outside it must appear our relationship is lacking. I know huski doesn't mean offense, but unfortunately it looks like some of us have taken it. You can't judge a dog/handler relationship by simply watching them in the trialling ring. Fearful dogs of their owners in the ring may be a different story, but again isn't my place to judge as an outsider, as I have no idea of the story. It may not be our choice of working style (whichever style that is), but relationship has little to do with it. JMO. Edit: typed that before I saw huski's latest reply.

Well done Em and TSD! Sounds like she did tremendously, and bringing the bird back isn't the deciding factor of success, either! You have every right to be pleased with her :D -
Yorkshire Terrier / Australian Silky Terrier
RubyStar replied to krissi's topic in General Dog Discussion
We had a Silky and a Yorkie as a kid. From memory, the Silky is more robust than the Yorkie. Our Yorkie was particularly fragile though, he broke his leg at about a year old and the poor thing had terrible arthritis for most of his life. Both dogs had lovely temperaments, great with kids. But with young kids, I'd vote for the Silky. -
That's exciting!! I can't wait to see it! Well done mirawee! Most definitely But even though I thought I had chosen wisely for dog space, in the end I found out I hadn't. I love the fact that my back seats can fold flat so I can carry almost anything, but with seats up, no room for dogs AND trialling gear And definitely no room for a 3rd Lab, unless I promote Ruby to the back seat :) Happy Birthday Bondi!!!! I too find K9 cooler, I think it has its own weather zone or something!

Best of luck!!!! Hope someone gets it on video for you (and us!) :D -
My Lab gets this. She actually started getting it last night after spending the whole day in the pool, and I thought here we go, days of a sad looking tail! But it seems to have come good this morning. Question to those who suggest using painkillers - what do you give? Dog prescribed ones from a vet? Or a dose of human ones? Would be handy to know, thanks!!

Yep the trials we usually do well at we don't have on video Where did the name wuffles come from anyway? Now you've got me curious!
