  1. The OP has a very very regular habit of deleting posts.. Happens all the time.. And this thread didn't even get any negative comments , it was all positive with people proudly displaying photos. Truly weird the way they keep getting edited!
  2. I got home and found my Canine News in the mailbox Don't know why I get excited when it arrives, I just do Not enough obedience trials! Only a few night time trials left They only just started!!!! First official night back at obedience training. Ruby was a very good girl and happy as Larry! Hope she keeps that smile for our trial on Saturday :)
  3. If I can convince Mum to let me steal her, I'll have Pippa tonight, too :)
  4. Thanks for the tip. I'll try Listerine next if the tea tree oil doesn't work. I don't think this is your usual hot spot, it's just a bit of razor burn?
  5. After being nice and bandaging Ruby's leg Saturday night instead of making her wear the cone of shame to bed, I awoke at 5am to licking sounds. Little b!@#$ had pulled the bandage down just far enough to access the patch and she was licking it So I grumbled at her big time, but she just lay there thumping her tail at me like I was praising her  Cone of shame went back on and has only come off for supervised meal breaks. Even made her sleep in it last night. She will be inside by herself for about 5 hours with it on, I feel uneasy about this, but what else can I do? Millie will be locked outside so they can't play and get caught up in it. I expect Ruby to just sleep all afternoon. The patch is looking slightly better. It's pink still but it's dry, not gooey. I've been applying the peroxide and tea tree oil. Think the hair will take ages to grow back, though ST, I hope Spartan is ok! Poor boy SR peeps, is training back tonight??
  6. Oh I love that kennel!! If you're ever looking to sell ;) come to me first! :D
  7. I wouldn't call it a strange reason why you're smiling I'd be on cloud 9 for a very long time if it were me! Hope you get your OC with minimal fuss - hopefully now Coco has the hang of what it takes to get a pass you will get it quicker than you might think Ruby had her first UD trial at the last trial of last year and she did much better than I expected :) We have our second go next weekend We haven't done much training for it at all over the summer break, it's either been too hot, or I've just been walking them instead of training. We'll be going into the trial next week less than prepared, but I don't mind not being 100% ready for UD because the stuff Ruby does know, she loves doing so we have a ball anyway! :D
  8. Thanks, Mim! I'll continue with the peroxide and maybe some tea tree oil. I know tea tree oil works wonders for other stuff. Especially stings and burns
  9. I could walk in and ask for rectinol and canestan and see if I get a raised eyebrow The clipper rash has been licked enough (on the sly cos I certainly don't permit her to lick it!) to cause it to go redder and a bit gooey so has probably turned into a hotspot. I am not familiar with them because I've never experienced them in any of my dogs before.
  10. Is Rectinol over the counter or prescription? (Edit: just googled it and um yeah, not too keen on walking into the chemist and asking for that ) I don't have Neocort, nor would the vet write me a prescription for one. So I'm looking for remedies that do not involve prescription medication :) I've dabbed at it with cotton wool with a bit of hydrogen peroxide on it, and she's now wearing her bucket head. I will lightly bandage at night though, I can't ask her to sleep with the bucket on and I don't want to catch her middle of the night licking it!! Here is the poor girl looking sorry for herself
  11. WOOOHOOOOOO kathq, that is AWESOME news, I am so so pleased for you and Coco!!! :D :D :D
  12. Oh the vets went clipper happy with her. She has a huge chunk of hair shaved from her neck AS WELL!! I have never understood what the clipping is for unless you have a long haired dog. But she is a Lab with leg hair shorter than her body. And the shaved patch is massive! To top it off it was clipped too close and irritated her Thanks for the tips showdog. I also think she is going to become a first time bucket head. She isn't going to be impressed, but anything to stop the licking!!!!
  13. Can anyone please recommend their home remedies for hot spots? I've seen them mentioned in the past but haven't taken much notice because my dogs have never got them. But when the vet took a blood sample from Ruby they shaved her leg too close and it has irritated her, and now she's licking it and it has turned a bit yucky. I have bandaged it for now to stop her licking it, but I know it needs air to it too so if anyone can give me some remedies to help clear it that would be great, thanks!! She is on AB's at the moment too, will that help?
  14. Late night last night! No quallies for me but I am very pleased with how Millie ran :) Second obstacle on the excellent agility course were the weaves where she got a refusal, as she caught a wiff of something and decided to sniff instead  But after I sent her back into the weaves she completed them and everything on the course beautifully Much fun running her when she isn't being an absolute nutter making her own course up She is so different to run than Ruby as Ruby is my slow and steady girl who I can usually get around a course. Millie is faster and more of a challenge to get around a course but when we work as a team it is great :D I was so close to a Novice Snooker pass! Even the judge had to refer to her rule book to see if we passed or failed Nice seeing you again emery, and glad you had fun stewarding!
  15. I need to contact Murdoch too for Ruby's emergency visit.. those count, right?! :) I never claimed for Ruby's Murdoch emergency last year when she got stung because it wasn't worth the effort. Wish I had now as I have to contact them anyway!
  16. Ptolomy, I rang Applecross for Ruby's history the other day for an unrelated insurance claim (for her one ever visit there) and they said they will not provide history to anyone but insurance companies, so to get them to contact me They did however send me out a signed copy of her vaccination. VetWest surprisingly have been the most helpful to me through my "ordeal". I am not looking forward to submitting my first claim with Ruby's new insurer
  17. I think if the day comes that I have human children, I'll still be mum to my dogs. I normally refer to them more often as my "babies" :)
  18. I even take it one step further and refer to my parents as their "Nanny and Gramps". When I'm home and about to visit them, I will tell them we're going to Nanny and Gramps' now!
  19. A conversation with a fellow DOLer got me curious. Do you refer to yourself as your pets mum or dad and that they are your kids/furkids? No condescending posts please for either argument. I am sure we are all aware that it is probably considered anthropomorphising if we do it, so we don't need to be berated for doing so, thanks. This is a lighthearted poll :) So quite clearly yes, I fall in the camp of I refer to my dog's as my kids and I am their mum. I am childless, prefer my dogs to having children (for the time being), so I feel comfortable referring to them as my kids :) And a day doesn't go by that I don't ask my kids if they love their mum! :D Over to you!
  20. Happy Birthday, OSS!!!! :D emery, stewarding agility or a show? Oh I am guessing the agility cos it's the Rotti Club trial :) Good luck! And don't take any poo from competitors if you're gate steward ;)
  21. How did YOU enjoy the bowen, MG? What does it involve for humans?
  22. Just reviewed my emails, Ruby is due one for her Excellent Jumping win, too, yippee!! My email doesn't want to reply
  23. Food for us or the dogs? My dogs actually need some, I'm waiting on a Black Hawk order Oh maybe I should email her and ask? :)
  24. Do you know if we are getting them tomorrow night? If that's the case, I foresee a first place ribbon in Open obedience for Milliemoo.... at an agility trial.... cos she's just that darn good Not sure if I asked for my Gamblers ribbon, it was the obedience one I wanted! More entry fees down the drain! I'll probably be bringing Ruby for the outing, but she is definitely not running.
