Reminds me a bit of those big American award shows where the celebs who present walk away with a massive haul, so massive it is quite ridiculous  Does all that really need to go to 2 winners? Think I'd rather see it shared around between the class in show winners and such! Well done though to those who organised the prizes, they certainly did a good job!! :) I hope performance get better than the mugs this year

Retrieving & Field Training Talk
RubyStar replied to RubyStar's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
TSD, thanks for sharing your weekend! That sounded incredible! Well done little Em and to you! What a star! I think I'd cry too if Ruby completed just one run for me  That's all I'm hoping for one day when I start competing, just for one little birdy and I will be overjoyed! I will be using our trials as training runs basically, to boost her confidence in marking and heavy cover, and to get a grip on depths as I don't get a lot of opportunities to practice this. Bringing a birdy back would just be the icing on the cake! Have to admit though, I am having doubts about entering her. Her bee allergy has gotten worse so I worry this sport might not be the right one for her I'll be armed with AH's and an epipen when we venture out (we're not at the epipen stage yet, but better to be safe than sorry!) and if it gets out of hand, we will stop and just stick to obedience. I can't wait for the retrieving training/trialling season to start here! Not long to go, now! :D :D -
Thanks. The only exercise she has passed 3 times out of 3 trials is the seekback. I'm sure that will be a failure in the near future because I most certainly haven't proofed that exercise, we've just been lucky The weekend's seekback involved her less trained/weaker side (ie. finding it down the ring to the left of her, instead of the right of her). She took off towards the box in her usual direction, had a sniff around, ran to the judge all waggy (but thankfully didn't mug her - she already did that at the start post after we said "ready" ), then she spotted it down the ring and off she flew! It was hilarious to see it in her eyes and her ears when she spotted it! I had to laugh

What a fantastic round!! Hope bedazzled posts hers, too, as I only managed to catch a portion of each of your rounds last night!

Congrats kathq on your RN title! And to DSO and xena98 on your agility games brags!! Congrats Ptolomy on the outstanding UDX pass, and to the many others that did awesomely tonight at the Obedience trial! My brag is Milliemoo won Open! And even more exciting for me is the fact that Ruby is doing well in the UD ring for being such a newbie at it with a newbie handler. The only things she failed were the bar jump in directed jumping, and one scent article. Didn't help that my articles were soggy as I left the container open in the rain! Oops
-
So does that mean that I get one of my own while Ptolomy and bedazzled have to share? You can send Leo here, but can't guarantee the title, nor him being returned ;)

Sending speedy recovery vibes to the little man! I got a prescription from my vet for a human junior epi-pen for my Ruby as there aren't dog ones. Every sting/bite reaction gets worse so good to have on hand.

I got an email but didn't see an actual list with our names on it. I assume because I got an email I'm in? And again I assume with both of them? How confusing! And harder to keep track on a phone in an airport
-
Sitting at the airport waiting to board Goodbye holiday.... but hello my girls! I qualified for the Obedience Challenge last year but the letter wasn't official obviously because we got our own committee together to run it separately. Would have been nice to get a letter from K9 this year to say we got in. Pretty bad form I agree Congrats to all those who qualified! My girls are in Open this year, good girls :)

Hello from last day in Bali! Sad that the trip is coming to an end, but so looking forward to not sweating like a pig again the second I hop out of the shower! Glad to hear Chica is on her way finally! MG, I'm so sorry to hear about poor Gibbs Hugs to both of you.

Whaddya mean?? There's another 2 pages I need to read through after this so you guys have had SOMETHING to talk about without us! :D We are having a fantastic time! Pool bars, cocktails, waterslides, cheap food, shopping, more cocktails, ahhhhhh!!!!! Funny how we find an internet cafe and the first thing we do is log onto email, facebook and DOL Don't have time to catch up on the posts but hope everyone and their doggies are all well!
-
Ptolomy, great video! Love their booties in the snow
-
Yes it almost has. Just a tiny bit of scab left. Vet gave me neocort for it but it was already healing well by then so didn't use it. Just dabbed it with hydrogen peroxide maybe once a day or every second day and kept a bucket on her to give it air and dry it out.
-
Miss my doggies already!! My first overseas holiday in over 10 years and my first lot of holidays since 10 days spent in Brisbane for a friends wedding in 2009. Soooooo looking forward to it!! We fly out in the morning :)
-
MG - they said they sometimes send them home with AB's but sometimes wait and see as the mouths usually heal fast? Or something to that effect Trying to remember if she was on them the first time she had this surgery. I have a feeling she was.
-
Well done, emery!!! That sucks, MG Hope you find the money hidden in the back of the couch that you didn't know was there (but if you do, I recall losing 2 grand last time I visited you ;)) I'm just online quickly because it is almost 4pm and I haven't packed for my holiday tomorrow! Too bad if I need to do any washing beforehand, huh? I've been running around all day back and forth to get pet insurance claims forms sorted. Both are sitting in their envelopes finally, ready to post. Claiming for just under $1500, yikes! Here's hoping I get it all back, minus my excess of course Not a good time for the bill with the holiday and all, but I am just so glad the two girls are fine. Millie needed antibiotics today as her mouth has become infected from the teeth being removed. She had developed some shocking breath from it!!!!

Fantastic weaves, OSS! The i-squeaks are my girls favourite too and what I used to train their weavers. -
Yeah it is a good idea to check mouths regularly. I had read about lumps in mouths prior to getting Ruby so made sure I always check mouths. Speaking of which, I'll have to give Ruby's a good inspection later. It's easy to check the outside of the gums by lifting their lips up, but more difficult to inspect the inside and under the tongue, so we often just don't

Way to go on the tracking training progress Kath and Ptolomy!! It's on the to-do list for "one" day :) Where are you seeing these snakes, bedazzled? I wouldn't be able to identify one to save my life! That is scary about you running over one, after ozjen telling me a story about a snake being flung up into the engine after being driven over, it gives me the willies when I think about it!!!
-
Thanks guys, giving Millie hugs from you Rusky :) ST, sorry to hear about your girl, I had no idea you lost one to mouth cancer Was it visible, and how did you end up finding it? I'm lucky that this was a protruding pink lump and that I managed to see the first one when she was puffing. It is under her tongue in an awkward spot to see.

Millie is settled, she isn't even whimpering. But she just doesn't seem to be falling asleep, when it appears she is trying. I hope the pain killer injection lasts her until morning so she doesn't have too rough a night. She has 5 days worth of painkillers to get her through that I need to start in the morning. I am glad I don't have to go into the office tomorrow! I can sleep in a little and keep an eye on her during the day :) I wasn't too stressed about it, ness. I know there is always a risk with surgery, but there was no point me stressing. This particular cancer is localised and doesn't spread to other parts of the body, but it can become invasive if not removed. Just hope it hasn't gotten into the bone as that means it could come back. I'll keep checking her mouth like I have been doing anyway to try and catch any regrowth :)

Thanks, Jess, more things to ponder! Build more value for weave poles, proof them more, and I will still be watching my shoulders and not turning into her to reduce the pressure. And keep driving past them, as well as send her with me doing different things. Love this thread Now I just need to find time to do it all, as I have the contacts issue to tackle, too -
Millie is home and is doing ok. She was happy to have her dinner, but I only gave her a little bit. She needs to eat soft food while her gum heals so I bought her a big roll of Tucker Time. Think the girls approve! She's now trying to sleep but I think is in a bit of pain as she can't seem to fall asleep. They extracted 2 teeth from her and a bit of the bone in her jaw so that they could close the big gaping hole. She's had it all scraped out and removed with a 4mm margin, so hopefully this will be the last of it

Interesting point, sheena. Has this happened to anyone before? -
Ma Mooo has been out of surgery for about 45 minutes now and is already up and walking around
