- never a truer word spoken As result of UDX I will be dropping the word Clever from the Occasionally Clever ones name and from now on he will be referred to only as Occasionally Strauss Mouse got his novice title yesterday - so started his DOR and change of position training tonight. 5 minutes later and we both had a migraine and decided to call it quits. Lucky for him he is pretty! That's what I say about Ruby because that girl couldn't get any blonder if she tried After watching UDX yesterday, I have definitely decided UDX isn't for me, well, more so isn't for Ruby. She doesn't need that confusion and confidence knock! Might save UDX for a future dog when I am more experienced and the dog isn't lacking in confidence!

UDX = need your head read!! :p

I just paid cash, literally, for Ruby, and direct deposit for Millie. Easy peasy! So what's going to happen now with entering her first show? Does that mean you can't now?
-
Oh no, naughty Waldo!! Glad to hear his training is coming along nicely! Can't wait to hear how you go in your first trial when you take the plunge! I've been training obedience with Pippa when my original intention was to do agility with her She is coming along nicely herself and I am looking forward to trialling her at some stage! She only has a short stay happening, and I haven't taught her a stand yet - lots to do! But she's so much fun :D

Sadly, I won't be this year I didn't know about it until this past weekend, it crept up on me! And I'm crazy busy with work and study. I am however looking forward to a weekend away of retrieving later on as I bought a new camp mat especially for it Bit wary to sleep in my tent again though, last time when I packed it up, there was a huuuuuuuuge spider between the tent and the tarp I had on the ground under the tent! Might sleep in my car like I did the first time. Might feel less like sleeping in a coffin this time without the big bulky air mattress that brought me close to the roof! Good luck at Arthur River! Edit: if you hear of anyone in Perth who is heading down for a day and has a spare seat, I don't mind coming along to steward for a day :) -
But any profits (if there are any at the end of the day) would rarely be enough to have to declare tax on an income, any money made is usually classed as a hobby. Unless she is going to cash that money order and spend it as cash, the money would still be taxed as interest earnt in her bank account if she then banks it. Yeah, best not speculate Just find it odd is all!
-
There's less involved  Though I'd love to do food refusal with a Lab ;)
-
mirawee, that is rather odd your breeder would only accept a money order Does it really matter how she gets it, as long as she gets it?! Hope it gets sorted for you soon, how frustrating!!

CC, I'm in for a Kwinana Beach meet again before weather says we can't anymore! I've been meaning to go again. What morning is best for you/others? Oh and if you happen to bring your camera, my mum would love a pic of Pippa and my girls if you don't mind snapping one for her please?! :)

Hi Sue & Waldo, I'd love to hear of some updates of how little Waldo is going! Pippa is a HOOT as I am sure Waldo is for you. I'm secretly a fan of these mini schnitzels ;) And black is best!

Awesome stuff, wuffles!! That's one very special girly you have there

I'm looking forward to a nice blistery retrieving weekend so I can wear my nice new warm jacket Picked up a Denali puffer jacket at Anaconda for $35.99, retails for $89.99, bargain I can't justify spending $200+ on a jacket and there are so many nice ones out there I also have my new wellies on their way from amazon.co.uk, hope they look as spiffy in person as they do on the website! (nope, couldn't go for "boring" black :D) -
Greats news, MG!!! :D I won't be able to make it to K9 tomorrow night for the fundraiser, got too much to do, but hope those of you who go have fun! I know they are in need of helpers so if anybody can offer to help, I know they'd be very grateful! :)

She's done worse, and I'm kind of used to her embarrassing me by now The look on not only the woman's face, but her dog's, was priceless! They both stood looking in disbelief Not something I am proud of, or encourage... but really, besides going away and working on dumbells being thrown around us while we work as distraction, what else can I do but laugh? She's a retriever afterall and I had spent that week getting her hyped up about retrieving dummies for her RATG that weekend!
-
You oughtta see her latest triumph. Looking for the seekback last week, takes off into the next ring to retrieve their dumbell She was mighty pleased with herself

The reviews said that the distance reported was ambitious and that you can throw further, so hopefully you get some height on it and it lasts Let me know how it goes! -

Ordered alerady?! What did you get? The launcher or something else? :D I just read the reviews for it, think I might pass. Bummer as I am after a cost-effective solution. Would preferably prefer something remote-controlled as I train on my own! But I know with that comes big $$ -

Interesting, RV, I wonder how good they are? I have been wanting to order a jacket off that website but never got round to it, maybe now I should  Though that website quite often decides not to load pages for me - drives me bonkers!!!! Are you interested in ordering anything from there? Maybe we could combine postage? -

CC, the next one is currently scheduled for the 22nd April to coincide with the retrieving trials, however, they are going to try and reschedule for the following week as it took longer than expected, so there won't be enough time to hold it on the same day as trials. I think the trials on 22nd April are being held in Upper Swan (but don't quote me on that!) and the RATG the following week I think also Upper Swan? Anyway, I don't think it will be too far from home (ie. out in whoop whoop 2+ hrs away) so if you're interested in taking photos of gundogs in action either at a retrieving trial or the RATG, there are a few options for you in April :)

Your friend's Weim was awesome! Bloody dogs who break ;) Hey, Millie It was more challenging than I thought, too. Thought it would be in shorter grass with higher visibility. Not that the grass was long or that it wasn't achievable, but for a test to test for ability, I just thought it would have been easier  But I loved it and the challenge was great. My biggest challenge is getting my dogs to heel better in that environment! -
Woohoo well done Xena98 and your gorgeous Gabby!!!! I agree with S&W, are you sure that's a small brag? It's YUUUUUGE!!!! I've got a brag :D Ruby won the Novice Retrieving Ability Test for Gundogs today, yippeeeeeee!!!!!
-
For those not on my facebook or who don't frequent the retrieving training thread, Ruby won the novice RATG Some very very lovely work by all the dogs! Sadly most of them went out with minor mistakes, with only one qualifier in novice and one in open. MG - Mason did really well!! Such a shame he was distracted on that last run. I'd really love to know what was out there because we lost more than half the field with whatever that was!!!! Ruby looked in that direction as we got to the flags but luckily watched for the mark when I pointed her in that direction. I'm so very pleased with Millie, though. She fully broke on her first retrieve, putting her completely out, but if I could bottle that enthusiasm I would She marked both retrieves incredibly, and was straight out and back with no nonsense in between :D My unpapered Lab did me proud! ;)
