  1. I think that definitely deserves bragging rights! Well done!!
  2. I'm sorta with you. They're about the only ones that are ever excited to see me, so I love it I do however wait until Millie stops barking before she gets a pat and she doesn't bark in her greeting as much, but they still run around like pork chops when I get home. One of mine, Ruby, is not a barker, and she is the one who automatically finds a present to bring me in her mouth when I get home :) My barker doesn't Never taught her this, think it's just the gundog in her, gotta bring something to me all the time and carry things in her mouth!
  3. I've never taken my dog to the vet for it. Seems to heal on its own in a couple of days. I just rest her.
  4. One of my Labs has had it a few times over the years. I'm so glad I had read about it before she got it as it saved me freaking out which you could quite understandably do at the sight of it when you don't know what it is!
  5. I am still waiting patiently for that Waldo obedience video! When is his first trial? I'll get onto filming Pippa at some stage. I finally got my act together and taught her to stand yesterday (shows how smart they are, she got it in 1 short session!), so we can start incorporating that into heeling practice at some point
  6. Happy 1 year Waldo! Love the photos! Looks so much like Pippa, who also turned 1 this week! Go the black minis!
  7. Same about loving listening to rain and don't even mind the odd storm, assuming it's not severe and nothing goes wrong! And if I don't have to be anywhere but home of course :D
  8. I was driving past Piney Lakes last week and the same thought crossed my mind, MG :) Piney Lakes meet, anyone? When this weather buggers off!!
  9. I got a bit of a giggle out of something else she said..... *childish snickers*
  10. If your power is still out you can pop them in my freezer. They'll be in good company with the pigeons in there So when are you free to head out training next
  11. Gah! Stupid weather go away! I finally have free time from the books to head out and train, and the weather is too poopy Inside training I guess is on the agenda tonight!
  12. I like the black and silver as well! My fave after the blacks - though that is based on photos, because I've never met a black and silver! My parents (who own the black) want another in the future but a pepper and salt - I keep trying to sway them to black and silver
  13. IMO, there is only one thing wrong with them...... they aren't a Gundog!!!
  14. Everyone says the blacks are crazier.... I don't have anything to compare it to, but so far, she's living up to the crazy rep!! So if you want a mini, you have to go black! So much fun :D
  15. Reticulation pipes in the backyard have copped it. Furniture, bedding, toys, socks, etc, not at all.
  16. No power outage at my parents place which is where I was most of yesterday. My power must have gone out because this morning the alarm clock was flicking. Woohoo, awesome!!! Hope he is ok!! for Daisy!
  17. I only have just under a year's experience with minis, but here is my personal experience on them. Smart, cheeky little things! Can bark a bit when excited. Don't shed, but require regular grooming. They share their love around the family, and smooch up to other dogs and people to sleep. Quite food orientated! Stomach rules everything (so therefore easy and eager to train). Recall with our 1 year old so far is great. Without too many distractions, turns on a pinhead to recall back. We are working our way up with more distractions. I wasn't a mini fan a year ago as I'm a Labrador girl, but I am a huge mini fan now!!
  18. One of mine gets left inside with her bed for up to 10 hours while I'm at work, as she's completely trustworthy (only took 4-5 years to trust her ) The other still isn't trustworthy so some days she gets left in the backyard with access to the back room only, or I leave her locked inside as well in a different part of the house so she has no access to a bed. She's the bed eater!
  19. Have a great Nationals, everyone!! Can't wait to see your photos, Luke :) Handsome man with a big "camera", you say?
  20. One small training session early in the week is all I've managed. Fingers crossed
  21. Thanks for everyone's opinions on the stays. Note that there is no way this dog will be put in stays if the other dog is going ahead with stays, regardless of on a pass or not. It is NOT worth he risk. I was just curious to see if anybody would approach the trial secretary or judge in advance to see about preventing this situation even presenting itself. So noone would?
  22. Farrrr out! I have 2 I need to apply for I haven't yet.... Oops!
  23. Don't be so sure about the goldfish. Mum has goldfish and nothing but problems with a couple of them! She had to google how to humanely kill one because it was suffering badly, and had been for months. Too much work for so little return! That's kinda how I feel with most animals that aren't dogs. I like my animals that give back what I put into them! Being that this is a purebred forum, the % of purebred dogs owned by its members are going to be greater, so of course we're going to read about purebreds with problems. I think it is luck of the draw regardless of what you get. And those childhood pets that never seemed to be sick, I think it is more just a case of we have more available to us these days treatment wise so we make use of them and are more aware and on the ball of potential problems. My parents would never have thought to take a dog to a doggy chiro or the like when I was a kid or even to look for signs of anything that could be wrong! It was more a case of they are either sick or they're not. These days, I am findig we are on the lookout for problems, even those subtle ones. You noticed Rosie's limp when noone else could. I can say that that isn't something my parents would have looked for or been concerned about as a kid!
