Oh no ness, that sucks!! How'd UD go?
-
I think most of them went down as soon as you guys left, too Was good to see the red dog was still sitting I was impressed with the CCD stays this time, all 7 of us in there got full marks in our stays I thought for sure mine would let team down And yes... I count in my head while doing the stays, counting down that damn clock! I swear the down stays went for close to 3 minutes including walking away and back! And not including the time when we first put them in their downs. I put Ruby in her positions last possible moment as a tip I took away from this thread, AND I told the judge I wasn't ready in the sit stay when he asked cos Ruby was sitting too far forward. I was shocked I actually said "NO!"

Mrs D Vigor (SA) - Novice Mr M Vigor (SA) - Open Ms L Knauth (QLD) - UD Mr L Knauth (QLD) - UDX and CCD I have to say the judges last night are awesome

I get different results every time I try new settings! She knew Tuesday night that it wasn't "real" and proceeded to act nuts (doesn't help she loves you guys!), though I got some good focused heelwork out of her. When it comes to trials, she doest a 180 on me and behaves better for stays but gives me the middle finger to heelwork! SIGH! I guess she sees no point in it if I am not verbally encouraging her and periodically giving treats like we can do in training - I just wish I could figure out how to transition from that to nothing like in trials. Double sigh!!
-
Thanks, guys!

Not so sure I want to disclose that information, it's highly embarrassing! WORST heelwork she has ever done!! I thought her heelwork a fortnight ago was bordering on bad, but I'd have given anything to have had that last night! 3rd place didn't seem to be an indication of how good we were, it was more an indication of how unlucky some people were last night We were #13, thought it was going to be very unlucky!! Oh what the heck, scores were: Heelwork: 17/30  *hides* SFE: 10/10 Recall: 18/20 (that damn marker!) Sit Stay: 20/20 Down Stay: 20/20 Total: 85/100 Our very first trial last fortnight she got 23 for heelwork and I was disappointed with that! Shame on me! Had she completed her sit stay then we would have been sitting on a 92/100
-
Well, my baby successfully completed her sit stay last night! Woohoo! And her down stay too. So we walked away from the Western Classic with our first CCD pass  The heelwork was woeful So I'm flabbergasted how we walked away with 3rd place Perfect SFE, then she got scared by a marker on the ground in recall and went around it to give me a crooked front But nonetheless, 3rd place is 3rd place so darn it I'm gonna enjoy it! And keep on trainin'!

Do I need to install anything to get it to work? It says Media Player could not be started

Obedience Trial Ring Craft - Tips
RubyStar replied to Ptolomy's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Dammit, I was hoping to get to see them in the flesh! Good luck tonight! -
Please keep them separate when unsupervised while the Lab is a pup! Even up to about 18 months old. Labs are puppies for what seems forever, and in the case of my Lab, when she was about 1 I decided to leave her unsupervised in the house with our little maltese on a hot day and when I got back a few hours later, the Lab had played with the little one so much that she was close to death (she would play with her by grabbing her around the neck and shaking like she was prey or a fluffy toy ) Emergency trip to the vet and she was fine, but I regretted leaving them together. Now the Lab is 2, she is trustworthy with the little one thank goodness! But they do still get kept apart during the day when I'm at work - Labs outside, maltese inside Omg...now THAT is what I want to try and avoid. Glad to hear the relationship between your two dogs is better now I'm just wondering, if you keep the both of them separate would that mean that they won't 'bond' together as much? Thanks for everyone's advice. We do want a particular colour - Yellow (I don't mind black but since Molly's my dog I don't get a say) Now I have 2 Labs, and the little maltese follows my 2 Labs around EVERYWHERE. She won't eat her dinner unless she gets to eat outside with the "big girls" and she sleeps on their bed with them sometimes. You can have them together when you're there to supervise to ensure the Lab behaves appropriately around a smaller dog and they will still bond If Molly doesn't like big, boisterous pups then the bonding may take longer but don't worry, they'll eventually get there! Just remember the safety of the little one first and the bonding will follow in time. The only lab I need now is a black! Yellows are my fave, but chocs are real cuties too. I want one of each!

I Think I Have A Problem......
RubyStar replied to leopuppy04's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
I have so many spare collar and lead sets, some brand new with tags! Collars and leads must match each other (or at least a solid colour lead that matches the colour in the patterned collar). I like my girls in matching sets to each other, but of a different colour to each other as they need their own personality! I need a new set, as they've had their current set since before Christmas!! P.S. Ptolomy, it's not your i-squeaks we wanna see, we still wanna see your toller coloured trialling pants ;) -

Hi, I'm Ruby and Millie's mum and although not addicted to CR yet... I'd like to personally blame Ptolomy for getting me onto these isqueak things... AND wanting to try them in different sizes! -

Ta, I'll keep a lookout! I think it was a fair observation to make that Ruby was hot and bothered at the last trial so hoping one of these might help -

If someone can find out about their next free shipping it would save us a packet! Or perhaps they would give us free shipping anyway if we all purchase together, they're gonna get a big sale here! Is anyone in the position to ask? (ie. big time customer like the CR anonymous group!) I think for starters I need to get 2 small and 2 medium isqueak balls, and 1 medium orbee ball! If we get free shipping I will look at other items too (or more balls like Ptolomy recommends) -

I wanna use the isqueak for training too, hide one or two in my pocket. Orbee would be for normal fetching. Decisions, decisions!! And I so don't have the money right now So the orbee is durable you'd say? I have a squeaky ball I bought for $3 for Ruby's xmas stocking () that has lost its squeaker but the girls LOVE it - if I have 2 things with me at the park, it's the only one they'll go for time and time again. As it's cheap and nasty, I expect it to tear any day now and then I'll be in trouble -

I wish she did, cos that's what I want to order  Ptolomy - are all your isqueak balls small? I want to order a few for my girls but not sure what size is best! I don't want anything too big, probably tennis ball size. ETA - saw you have mediums after I posted... my girls would probably only need small too then I'm guessing as their mouths wouldn't be much bigger than your mob Does anyone have an orbee ball? I'm interested in something that will last that I can chuck around at the park! -

If someone in Perth can take part, I'd love to order something too! I don't mind paying whatever it is to get from Sydney to Perth on top! Please let me know... and let me know when the order placing happens! -
Obedience Trial Ring Craft - Tips

Yes that was us! I was thrilled to bits, I had never done a SFE offlead with her before with someone that she didn't know, and even onlead she was so hit and miss. I think it's starting to sink in for her Now, if only I could get some other things to sink in... like not jumping on the judge mid heeling pattern As for offering the hand in the face, I agree for most dogs it looks like an invitation to move or an offer of a treat, so I am practicing with the hand extended now.
