Who Wants To Order From Clean Run?
RubyStar replied to laffi's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
I've now got my isqueaks and orbee ball! Thanks laffi and Ptolomy!! The small isqueaks sure are small! The difference between them and the medium is quite a fair bit! -

OMG love the picture I haven't heard/seen anywhere in Australia that they do dock jumping, but I would loooooove it if it started up here because I'd be there with bells on with Ruby! Can't keep that girl outta the water

How is that different from here? Is it mandatory there or something? A lot of dogs heel with their head up here and I think it looks lovely! If only my little monster would maintain it Though I have noticed in some of those Crufts clips that the dog is practically velcroed to the handler's leg, so much so that I don't know how they don't trip over the dog! That's awesome! :D Are you gonna help?

That demo looks great What's different in the European heelwork that would give them sore necks? Heads up?

Thanks! So you guys are back then? Hope you had a fantastic time!!

Umm, not sure Makes me nervous cos I'm edging closer to seeing how Ruby handles it all offlead! We train offlead the majority of the time anyway, and have done a mock trial in the novice ring once and she stayed with me (though a bit laggy due to heat), but it's a whole 'nuther ball game being offlead in a real trial with the nerves thick in the air! Her retrieve needs tidying up, and COP as she comes a bit forward when she drops. So we gots work to do! That's awesome! So when is your first novice trial?

I wanna see the video of Kenzie in the ring!

Way to go Kenzie and the red dogs! Me, a brag? Ummm... well there's a brag and then there's a to go with it Ruby and I placed 2nd in CCD at Friday night's trial. Only 2 of us qualified. We were sitting on 1st with a score of 91/100, but Ruby decided to lose us 10 points in one hit with a little, um, "accident" in the ring Bless her, it wasn't her fault, it was her naughty mummy's fault for not taking all precautions beforehand to ensure that didn't happen! How embarrassing, but all I can do is laugh about it now and put it down to another lesson learned So we walked away with our second pass and 2nd place in the end even with a massive point loss that had nothing to do with her actual ringwork, so I'm pretty chuffed. Her heelwork was better this time, 25/30. I told myself beforehand I don't care if we fail on something stupid, as long as her heelwork improves. Which it did. She missed a halt as some dogs went berserk at ringside right as we were told to halt so she was majorly distracted... something to work on. And she held her sit stay again woohoo! So only 1 more pass to go! But I'm not entered in any more trials at the moment. Might enter one in May if I feel Ruby's focus is improving. Sure I'm getting passes, but I'm not getting scores I'm completely happy with. Funny though, with dismal scores, we've still managed to pull off a 2nd and a 3rd (and an aaalmost 1st :D)

Epiotic Ear Cleaner Whats A Better Alternative
RubyStar replied to mokhahouse's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I have Labs that always have mucky ears and one has been treated with Dermotic twice now (she's the one who likes to swim of course!) I use the Bayer Clean Ear Solution and as I use it several times a week to maintain clean ears, I was finding that the bottle was going quickly and costing me a bit to keep replacing. The vet offered me a cheaper, DIY solution: 20% white vinegar and 80% sterile normal saline (0.90% NaCl) Makes the girls ears smell a little like vinegar but it does the trick and dirt cheap! -
Who Wants To Order From Clean Run?
RubyStar replied to laffi's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
My girls' most favourite ball is red so I hope my order has a red i-squeak in it! Doesn't matter what else I try to offer the girls to play with, they always choose the red squeaky ball that has no squeak left in it! Don't you be pinching all the reds now, Ptolomy, we all know you have an obsession with that colour with your balls, dogs, and matching pants!! -

I wonder if Ptolomy enjoys running around squeaking them in her own mouth more than her kids do? -

Fun Heeling Games
RubyStar replied to The Spotted Devil's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
No ideas sorry but I'll be watching this thread with interest! Ruby gets bored of heeling quickly too so I need to make it fun for her somehow! And hopefully without feeding her every single step as that is the only thing that keeps her interest -

Do you provide i-squeak training sessions? :p At training last night, someone's dog had a squeaky toy on the sidelines in it's mouth and Millie just wanted to bolt over there and steal it She's really getting the hang of this playing thing, so great to see!! ;) Now if only I could just get her to bring it all the way back to me instead of spitting it out a metre in front of me, expecting a treat -

Way to go, NC and Koori! That's not a small achievement, that is awesome! Well done! What was the score? Well done to all the other brags too, I love this thread!

Thanks! Here's hoping the heelwork does improve, as its the thing I struggle with the most with Ruby. Yes I'm tickled pink at a pass under our belt

Well, after I said no, I made the mistake of not getting Ruby up, walking back and then setting up position again, she was just waaay too tired and lacking oomph that I knew it would be a task and a half to get that position quick smart while they were waiting for me. So I tried to get her to straighten up by getting her to look up at me (touch game option was out, she was knackered) and I tried soooo hard not to touch her to raise her up! So in the end, I sighed and just said yes I'm ready and left her in the exact same position Oh well, she did it...! Our QLD judge did the same. We were told to take up position next to the marker before leads were removed, then he gave us the spiel and told us what we could and could not do (he was very helpful to us newbies!) but he then told us when he says to take up position, we have the option of staying put or moving back out of position and getting in again. Both times I opted to break the position and set up again so the stays didn't end up being a minute or so longer than they needed to be I especially aim do it between the end of the sit stay and beginning of down stay to totally separate the 2 exercises - if I put her in a down straight from a sit I have this feeling that isn't going to help my sit stay problem!!!
