Ruby says no more sisters, they keep pinching my toys and I'm not big and brave enough to go and get them back Millie says no more sisters, as they get in the way of me staring at you lovingly, Mum I say screw you both, I still want Mia!!

Of course it is, but it was just the way in which some of the comments were said that some of us were particularly "sensitive" to. There are plenty of dogs I don't want to own for various reasons, but I wouldn't go and tell the owners those reasons as I'm afraid it would be quite offensive to them!

Well then aren't I a sucker. I want a Beagle next....!!

How on earth did Piglet end up homeless?! I think ness will have her

I'm in luuuuuuuuuuuurve!! Mia is so beautiful. I am incredibly jealous over here B9, I so wish she was mine! I am just so grateful she went to a DOLer so I can keep up to date on her progress

Congrats Minty on the ET title, and to Beans for the agility title! No trialling brags here, except we're making slow progress with Millie's dumbell training, which is one of my goals for this year to get her to pick up a dumbell

Yep, I find that with grooming. Too much for me and unless I've had a quiet work week, I usually refer Labs elsewhere. grooming Labs are the easiest, bath, quick towel down and off you go, and they only need to be done a couple of times a year. I have a grooming business, there is more to it when someone is paying fifty five dollars to have their dog washed, completely dried, deshedding treatment, nails and ears. I know how to wash a dog and no, I don't do a 'quick towel down'. It's the Labs themselves, not the work. Thanks for the tips though....... I don't think Lablady was giving you tips on how to groom a Lab, I read it as that's all a Lab needs from it's owner so not understanding why one is being sent to the groomers! But I guess when you take into account all the extra stuff you do, I guess some people find the need to take their Lab to a groomer. Me, I personally wouldn't have considered it cos I do most of the things myself, and for the nail trim, the vet nurses do it for free at my vet To continue completely off topic, I do love the doggy perfume that some dogs come home wearing after being at the groomers, smells devine! :D

Agree with BM, very diplomatic Huski and a much appreciated post Us Lab owners do realise they have downsides and aren't for everyone! But we just aren't keen on certain generalisations as they describe many dogs, and/or describe dogs that have been let down by their owners.

What's the point when they're all lumped in the one category? I may as well let my girls run riot and quit training now, and feed them up nicely. I'm not saying my girls are perfect, they are far from it and do have the exuberant Lab personality that some people aren't that big a fan of, but give me full of life anyday Some of the "typical Lab traits" that have been mentioned here are displayed by many breeds, it's called being a dog!

Exactly what I was thinking Why do Labs need to be taken to be groomed?!?! Or are you talking just bathing? If so, again, it's down to owners. I've had nothing but lovely comments on having both my girls hydrobathed at the vets. They just stand there.

But you've just described SO many different breeds I can liken it to me going around and saying all GSD's are aggressive. I have met a couple of GSD's and each one has gone for Ruby. One was a 9 month old pup who ran up to her and went for her, not once but twice, it scared the crap out of Ruby. Another was an adult dog, we met walking past each other on a nature path, the dogs were sniffing each other's faces (Ruby with submissive posture as always, underneath the GSD) and then it went for her. But I realise this is not the nature of ALL GSD's, it comes down to the individual dog and also how they are raised. If I went around stating all GSD's are dog aggressive based on my run-ins with a handful, it would definitely offend the GSD owners on here. So that is why us Lab owners on here are slightly offended with the generalisations. I'm not usually one to debate, but I guess I just love my Labs too much to not say something

How's little Rosie going? It's a shame you didn't come back to class! You should try handling Millie now, she's obsessive about getting into heel position as soon as she knows we're about to work! It might not be perfect, but I don't even have to ask her and she jumps into position at my side She's picked up confidence at training class now, wanting to say a little hello to other dogs, as before when you first met her, she only had eyes for humans (still does very much so). OMG about your old dog being left in a sit/stay at the beach That is hilarious, though I bet the poor little thing sat there as the car drove off wondering what on earth she had done wrong to be left behind If you can't call that a rock solid sit/stay then nothing is!!
