I think your best bet would be the Bunbury & Districts Dog Club http://www.dogswest.com/dogswest/Clubs-All_Breeds_Dog_Clubs-Bunbury__Districts_Dog_Club.htm

Hi guys, just wondering if anybody can please tell me what days the obedience and agility is on this year at the Royal? Thanks :)

Labrador Retriever Breeder Recommendations

I'm really not sure what emoticon best fits this piece of "advice". Not true at all!! Not all ethical breeders are computer people who have websites or advertise on DOL. And LOTS of unethical breeders use DOL to sell puppies! DOL is a good starting place, but don't rely on them advertising on DOL alone to mean you are buying from an ethical registered breeder. Exactly! We were referring to dogsaremyworld's statement :) -
When I get a chance, I will :)

In the purebred dog world, if you say "purebred" it's taken to mean "purebred/registered/with papers". Without papers, you can't prove your dog is purebred, anything could have snuck in back there. So what would you then call a dog who looks like a particular purebred but doesn't have papers? You can't call it a mix or a mongrel. I still don't agree. Pedigree purebred = papers. But no papers on what has all the physical and temperamental traits of a certain type of breed still is a purebreed to me. I have a Lab with no papers but was deemed to be a purebred gundog so is now on the Associate Gundog register. My other is pedigree. She is no less Lab than my papered one. I'd say she even has more natural Gundog abilities than the papered one.
-
Is that correct? I always thought that you could describe a dog without papers as purebred if the dog was without any other mix - whereas a dog with papers would be described as "pedigree". So you are saying that only dogs from registered breeders are entitled to be described as "purebred" is that right? Agreed lavendargirl. I don't agree with 'dogsaremyworld' interpretation of a purebred.
-
Lack of papers doesn't deem a dog not a purebred. What it does mean is the dog is not pedigree purebred, and yes without papers you can't PROVE it, but what a load of rubbish about lack of papers means not a purebred. I don't condone buying from BYB's, but my rescue Lab sure is hell a PUREBRED, even without papers.

Looks like the body of a working Lab, with the face of a GSP. So I'd say a Lab x GSP :)

Bummer, dandybrush!! I'm hoping it finds a home with a dog person - the puppy bars should hopefully sway a dog person to buy What I love about the Tucson is the back window opens on its own so you don't have to have the tailgate up to have air come in - one of the big factors that sold me on this car! I'd be keeping it if it suited my current needs, as I love my car! But I just think a wagon will be better suited for me now :)
-
And the purchase price would be??? I'm allowed to dream here, aren't I?! Haven't set one yet, but according to redbook.com.au and other sites selling my model/year second hand, they are selling between $17k-$20k and mine has the lowest km's by far - aaaand includes free puppy bars Forgot to add, it's the Elite model - leather seats, etc.
-
You could always fly over and drive it back :p Or have it shipped! (not included in purchase price )
-
Just hope I can sell my Hyundai Tucson! It's a 2009 model, under 30,000km's on the clock (only really drive it to dog training and trials!), and comes fitted with a puppy bars 2 door crate system (though not puppy bars brand, custom built by someone local). Any takers? :D

I don't have access to a big burly dude! Where can I hire one? For an initial look, I'll probably go with my mum But if I go to buy one, I'll probably ask my brother in law to help. He isn't a big burly dude, but he's a shark when it comes to negotiating!! I like the look of the Mondeo wagon too, hope it's as big as it looks!
-
Well done everyone on your showing/trialling results!! Looks like it was a massive weekend and I'd be here all day congratulating individually
-
That would be the logical thing to do, except for one, I don't have the soft crates yet to test out the fitting and time to get out there car hunting is hard to find It's so much easier to procrastinate essay writing with online car browsing and asking others for their personal experience when it comes to cars and dog gear! I don't think car salesman can really help me in that respect, and I will probably get odd looks from them! Plus, I REALLY HATE pushy car salesmen!!! I emailed a place to ask for their dealership location so I could come out and look at one, and I had 2 emails within minutes from them hounding me down, one stating that they couldn't get me on my number provided (I wonder why!!) and that I should call them back so they can talk me through all my car buying questions and needs. FFS!!! I once went to a used carlot with my mum and was immediately approached by a salesman. I just said thanks but I just want to browse and he said "ok, we'll browse together". I told him to get *** basically and that we would browse on our own!!! So online browsing, muuuuuuch more relaxing :D

OK, Ford Mondeo wagon.... anyone?? This looks rather nice, and a reasonable second hand price with low km's for a 2010 model, but I wonder if the boot looks as spacious in real life?! No stupid wheel hub thingies inside the boot taking up space I'm rather tempted to go looking at it on the weekend!
-
Does anyone have any first hand experience with the Mazda 6 wagon and boot size?
-
I want a false floor, so don't want a car that is already high up, meaning the dogs have even further to jump up. Why, would an X-Trail fit a false floor, with 2 soft crates side by side on top? With enough width and depth to store gazebo and chair and training gear underneath?
-
The Holden Commodore wagon 2001-2007 fits two standard 36" crates at floor level but has quite a bit of space above that. The slope of the tailgate prevent the crates being any higher up. If you put in a false floor and cargo barriers front and rear with doors in, rather than crates, you could fit two labs. Thanks for that. Bummer, I really want to go the crate option next time round after having the barriers fitted to my current car. More flexible with removable soft crates. I'll keep hunting - there has to be one to suit my picky needs! Probably not looking to seriously trade until towards the end of the year. But I suck at making decisions so the trade may never happen!
-
Congrats TO and Jovi on your JD title!! Way to go xena98 on your UDX Grand Champ quallie And to bedazzled on yours - 1 more go go!! And congrats to you too Sue and Waldo!!! Go the mini schnitzels!!!!!!! PUHLEASE tell me you got it on video? I'm dying to see little Waldo work!! I'm a sucker for a black mini now :D
-
Oh I hear you about the wheel hubs in the way, that is one HUUUUGE problem I have with my Tucson!!! I could have fit 2 crates in side by side if it weren't for those. No false floor though. I'll look up the Octavia too, thanks :)
-
Have you seen one in person? I find that the photos of the backside of a car always look extra roomy compared to how they really are. Most are roomy with the back seats folded down, I need a roomy one with the seats up! The back door looks a bit too slanty to fit crates Why can't wagon's have their backs almost vertical! I think the Astra Wagons have the most upright backs, but I am hoping there are others out there similar. Buying dog cars is seriously hard business
-
Hi dandybrush, no I need to crate. I've done the whole tie in thing and one of my dogs is just too much of a handful to clip back in. I also don't want to do the harness thing because I get my dogs in and out of the car every few minutes at training in rotation, and don't wish to train in harness, nor put one back on each time! It's a PITA as I've already been down that path. The other dog doesn't even need to be tied in, so I could get away with just one crate for my handful, but I like matching pairs and the other one loves her crate so I think I'd be happier with a crate for each of them Thanks natsu chan, I have a puppy bars setup now in my Hyundai Tucson (except not the brand puppy bars), but I want to get away from that and have the flexibility of soft crates, and a false floor to store my crap! My dogs won't claw/chew their way out, they are happy and content in crates (even my handful one with tying in) so this is the way I want to go. Going to google the Skoda Superb just out of curiosities sake
-
My Labs are much shorter than Greys But yeah, gonna be a struggle to fit a false floor AND crates I want a car that has the ability to take human passengers in the back, and I want leather seats as Lab hair on fabric seats is not preferable! Even though they will be in the back, it floats around and ends up in places that would amaze you Getting a good mix between spacious dog car for dogs and dog gear, and car you would be happy to drive around without the dogs, is hard! I like a good looking car that is also very practical - and under 20k second hand - spoilt much?
