Heads Up Perth People (west Leederville In Particular)
RubyStar replied to Legion's topic in General Dog Discussion
I've seen a KID take a dump under the play equipment in the sand... I kid you not. Should I start setting up baits for disgusting children? I worry a bit about it harming the small ones, but if the parents are watching, they should stop them from getting to the bait in less time it would take for the kid to take a dump in the sand, because ya know, home is too far away and they might miss out on precious play time if they have to excuse themselves from their friends for 5 minutes to run home.... Absolutely disgusting And no that wasn't to antagonize parents, it is an OTT comparison that not everyone's kids and dogs do inappropriate things and not all parents/owners allow them to. Hope this person is caught. -
It's been almost a year since I've done any games, hope there are some coming up as now I have the urge to have another go Actually, just want to be trialling again as I haven't in ages. Hurry up night time trials! I'll have time for you then!

Was good to be back! I was way too busy to go but at the last minute I went stuff it, I'm going anyway! I also managed to get some obedience training in with my girls after Pippa's agility class last night, go me Hugs for dear old Buddy! Good to see you, Rach

Did the judge tell you to re-attempt the spread? I got DQ'd in Snooker once when I was running to a tunnel for my last colour (which also happened to be the first obstacle in the closing sequence) and Millie took the broad jump next to it by accident, but did it diagonally. As I hadn't planned on doing the broad as my last colour but the tunnel, after she did it wrong, I ran to the tunnel and did that, then started the closing sequence. Judge had to pull rule book out to see if she could pass us or not. Turns out had I just reattempted the broad then did the closing sequence, we would have been fine! D'oh! At least I know for next time. Also, I know there are no refusals or anything when doing colours as long as you go back and correct it, but what about in the closing sequence? I am guessing you need to complete that correctly the first time?

Feel your pain with decision making! I am not expecting, but my life is crazy busy right now that when the perfect puppy recently came available, I had to battle with myself to make a decision and in the end I decided there were far too many cons outweighing pros. I may not ever be presented with such a perfect opportunity again as I just had, but I couldn't let that be my decision maker. There is never a good time for a puppy, but I do know there are times when it is even worse! Now was that time for me. Maybe in a few years time things will be different, and another perfect puppy may come up. I'll never know, but I am happy with my decision (while sad!), and learning to appreciate what I already have, instead of always wanting more (terrible habit of mine!) :)

Not sure if these pics will work as they are taken from facebook (and not my own album).

Awww cute Rosie! And at the bird and the woman swimming fully clothed to rescue it!! You should join us at the beach next time :)
-
Considering I've never been to Kalgoorlie in my life, I can't see it happening any time soon But definitely let us know if you're heading to Perth direction, we could arrange a DOL meet :) It was nice to meet you today mashlee. Your Indi is gorgeous.

No probs, Weasels. My dogs don't mind the whole throw the ball in the water, retrieve, rinse, repeat saga. And then Millie decided digging a large hole to hide her ball was like the best game ever :p She was flicking sand all over us and poor Pippa copped sand all over her! I like walking too, but when I find a spot on the beach that has minimal dogs around and the ones around are friendly, I don't like to tempt fate by walking past loads of dogs. As we were leaving today, just near the exit to the carpark, 3 large bull breeds got into a fight

I entered the obedience at the Royal once, had Millie in Novice and she started off going great guns, til we heeled to the other end of the ring and she caught sight of all the spectators. She stood there like this at them all and couldn't get her to heel again! Didn't know she'd be the type to suffer from stagefright!! Well done xena98, ripper run!!

Childhood dream dog that was based on looks. Finally got my long-awaited Lab as an adult and am very lucky they turned out to suit me wonderfully. Is the breed I shall stick with! (though I think a few other breeds may sneak in along the way for a bit of variety, if room allows! These are based on a combination of looks and trainability for dog sports - I wouldn't get a(nother) dog based purely on looks! They have to fit in with my lifestyle).

So what happens when you are a Mini Schnauzer and live with a couple of Labradors - you start imitating them, of course! My girls will chase a ball at the park and when they're tired, they like to lay down in the shade and squeak on their ball, or lay with it between their feet. Or if you're Ruby, you lay down with ball, make eye contact with someone, get up to show them the ball making happy grunty noises, lay down again, make eye contact with someone, get up... you get the drift! Pippa at the park this afternoon with my girls. Them with a normal sized i-squeak, Pippa with a small one, too cute And this is what happens when the park is freshly mowed, you have to roll in it and get it stuck in your coat!

Well done piper and Jazz!!

Great, Weasels! A couple of people I know from agility might be coming down for a bit, too. Should be a great day for it!

Two works for me. I can easily afford two, I have a hand available to pat each of them and an arm to hug each of them with at the same time, can carry their dinner bowls out at the same time, I can keep an eye on two at the park/beach, and two is good for rotation at training. I sometimes take my mum's dog out training and to the park on my own. It's doable, but need extra eyeballs and to be extra vigilant. But I'd love another of my own - insanity when 2 is actually a good number for me Car isn't set up for 3 Labs, either!

Do You Ever Get Sad On Your Dogs Birthday?
RubyStar replied to Baileys mum's topic in General Dog Discussion
Agree with tlc, not just on their birthdays. My girls are almost 6, and are really looking it, too! My choc girl has a grey muzzle, and my yellow girl probably has grey on her face but it's hard to tell it's grey and just looks like blonder bits. They still act like puppies when they want to, though Can't believe how quickly the past 5-6 years have gone. Sad to see my babies grow old, and my yellow girl is my heart dog so doubly hard. Sucks when expected lifespan is probably only 10-12 years for Labs. Gosh, just writing that made my heart ache because they are halfway there :( -
Welcome, Dare! I like his official name, I think it's quite fitting!
-
Oh bummer, CC Is anyone else visiting the beach tomorrow? I'm heading there at 10am with my two Labbies, and mum is coming with Pippa. Hope to see some of you there! Otherwise, it'll just be us! (and some randoms )
-
Hopefully we're talking about the one where the carpark is off the roundabout - that one rocks!
-
Thanks! I want to come down and watch the obedience all day but not keen on paying the exorbitant entry fee I should have entered my dogs for the cheap entry, then scratched them (or I could have just entered them, I hear you saying? :p) Anyone need a strapper? (that goes for the agility, too, peoples! I don't mind being a dog holder/crate lugger for the day!)
-
I might be very tempted, Weasels!!
