Has anybody alerted Ptolomy?
-
Looks like I'm stocking up then!!! :D Sneaky sneaky, they must have only just been put up cos I've checked that page the last couple of nights! I've been waiting for free shipping for some stuff I want/need so I can spend my birthday voucher :D

Hi Sherel, thanks for that :) As I said, they've only just started on the chicken one so I will see if they do as well on it as the lamb. Really liked the lamb so hoping this one agrees with them as much! I'll have to feed them more then being lower in fat (which I didn't realise ) as they were losing a bit of weight on the lamb. No biggie, I'll just keep an eye on them.

Thanks for the feedback, GG85! So any idea if the Lamb & Rice is still the same?

Hi guys, I just bought a new 20kg bag of the new Chicken and Rice, having only ever fed the Lamb and Rice prior. Can anyone tell me if the shape has changed just for this flavour, or has it changed for the lamb one, too? The lamb one was a deep rich brown and smaller, and I know it's hard to judge just on looks but it just looked like good quality, the biscuits were smooth, and I found the smell pleasant and rich (for a dog food that is, certainly didn't do anything for my personal appetite! ) However, I have opened the bag of Chicken & Rice to find the biscuits flatter and rounder, lighter in colour and rough, and just all round looking like an inferior product. If it didn't come out of a Black Hawk bag, I would swear it was cheap stuff It is quite comparable to the bag of Bonnie I have lying around from yonks ago. Anyway, the dogs have only been on it for just under a week so I will keep an eye on them to see if anything changes. I'm sure it's all good, I was just wondering about other people's experiences and if it was just the Chicken & Rice that looked like this. If the Lamb & Rice hasn't changed, I'll be going back to that one when this bag is done. Thanks :)

My pet hate, too! Can't stand TAFE qualified people calling themselves a BEHAVIOURIST. Pffft. And no, I have nothing against TAFE, I have done many years at TAFE myself, including starting their companion animals course a few years back. It's just a title people are claiming up way too easily and don't have the relevant university degree and experience to back it up.

Nice to see you back in here, LR I've got some studying to do but all I feel like doing is taking a nanna nap Had a fantastic night last night at the WA State Obedience trial, felt nice to be back out and trialling, and it being a night time trial! Cracked open a drink, dip and biccies, oh and put my dogs through a few obedience rings Ruby got an Open pass and Advanced Rally pass, but the best part was just how happy she was all night. Had her entered in 3 rings and she was still happy at the end of the night. Caused a few moments with her antics in the ring but I much prefer that to laggy uninterested behaviour :) Millie came 2nd in Rally Advanced and pulled off an absolutely beautiful Open round, she just anticipated the recall with extreme enthusiasm Very happy with how both kids performed. Just got back from a lovely morning out with CrazyCresties at Hyde Park for a photo shoot with my 2 and Pippa. The photos looked amazing from the little camera screen so I am sure to be blown away by her talent when she edits them!

Not much I can post to top the Grand Ob Ch!! Outstanding work, congratulations again!!! My mini brag. Millie placed 2nd with 98 points (behind Ptolomy's Beans on 99 points) in Rally Advaned, yay!! This was her first time in Rally Advanced. The pretty purple ribbons are lovely. I had an almost brag with Millie in Open. I can honestly say that that was the best heelwork she has ever done I was proud as punch :D Just went a bit wide in the one of the figure 8's, and ended up on 28/30. Then on the DOR, she anticipated the recall ARGH!! That blew our lovely score of what very well could have been 197 (we continued with the rest of the exercises and she got almost full marks for those). As you can imagine, I'm disappointed, but more than that, I am so pleased with her attitude! Being stuck in the car while Ruby has 3 turns in the ring before her certainly agrees with her enthusiasm levels Ruby did some lovely work in UD, but it was also entertaining as she decided she'd take articles back to the judge, to the steward, to the random person outside the ring.... She then went into Open and decided to bounce around the judge's feet to entice him to play which cost us 10 points, but she came out with a pass in the end :) She also got 96 in Rally Advanced. So yep, very happy with my kids and they definitely earned their dinner!

RUUUUUDE!!

In other words, not a hope in hell!!!!! :p

Only issue with that is, because I haven't been trialling much at all this year, the girls still need 1 or 2 Open passes each to have a chance at qualifying for the Classic Challenge next year. There aren't many trials left this year!
-
I'm having similar indecisions about the State Trial, too! I know I am entering (though not sure why, haven't trained this year!!) but I just can't decide what to enter. Ruby in UD is a definite (she needs all the experience in there that she can get, so eventually we may get a pass!) Millie in Open is also a definite. But do I put Ruby in Open also? Do I give Millie another bash in UD? Do I put them both in Rally? Don't think Ruby would appreciate 3 times in the ring. And it would stress me out going from ring to ring, dog to dog (not sure how Ptolomy does it!!!!!! ) Can't be wasting $$ and enter everything and decide later, either. Decisions, decisions!!

Woohoooooo way to go, Coco!!! I am thrilled for you, kath!

Hope it's nothing serious Sending positive vibes for your crew, mirawee!

Thanks so much for the explanations, ST I think Millie would take to it much better than Ruby, because I get the middle finger and she takes me on a while scent hunt when I get her out of the car if I'm still attached to the lead Not a very good obedience dog I'd be interested to see if this could be converted into some decent training. I'm well aware that there is a whoooooole lot more to tracking than a dog who likes to sniff the ground, but I guess it's maybe a starting point She may be crap at it, I dunno, she usually has her own agenda I think she'd drag me along, while Ruby would plod along. If you do anything in the park, I'd love to join you :) Even just to get a feel for what is involved and if it's something I like, maybe take it on properly. And yep, this hayfever sucks big time! I am sitting inside a building at work and still sneezing my head off. The bin under my desk is half-filled with tissues already
-
I like the social side with humans to training dogs, so if this is a sport where I have to go it alone, I will probably pass! More fun and motivating to train with others. We'll see :) What beautiful spring weather!! But blurgh, my nose is running and I am sneezing all over the place. I NEVER get hayfever, but I don't feel sick so I am putting it down to hayfever? Might need to raid the dog's first aid kit for Ruby's AH's  Really feel for everyone who suffers bad hayfever every year, this is new to me and it is awful!
-
Is it easier or harder to train 2 dogs for it at the same time? How hard is it to find someone to lay tracks for each other? Are there new people starting out who can't find someone to help and lay tracks for each other and seem to drop out? My biggest struggle is finding a training partner in other sports, and this is one sport where you probably can't get far at all without someone else. Would love to try Millie on it, I think she'd really enjoy it - but I wouldn't want to leave Ruby out either, as she already gets left out often of the agility training side of things. If I don't make it back to retrieving next season, maybe I could give tracking a go :)

Well done, ST!! Way to go, Lulu! 5 weeks training too I still would love to try tracking, maybe in another life I'll get a chance to
