So many great brags!! Well done on the Herding Ch superminty!! Yay NN! And go Strauss, state title holder!! All your kids did fabulously that weekend, and Cider was a pocket rocket! If you ever want to hand her over to a new handler... :p Good job Lira! Sounds like she will dominate the brags thread in the years to come :) I have a similar brag to Ptolomy. Little ninja backed up last years Novice Agility and Excellent Jumping state title wins with winning the Excellent Agility state title this year! She also made it to the Masters Jumping finals, but we were a one bar blunder (bad front cross!) She was just awesome, especially considering just how HOT it was during the finals in the middle of the day!!

How is he at holding metal? Pippa struggles to pick it up and when she finally does, her little teeth chatter while she holds it! We are very proud of you and Waldo getting your CDX and heading for UD! I can only hope we'll get there, too! I'm plugging away at UD with a certain blonde Labrador, so if she hasn't driven me absolutely bonkers by the time it is Pippa's turn, I may continue... Waldo doesn't mind the metal at all. He seems to have more trouble identifying the wood. If he can't find it he sits in the middle of the articles and returns via a jump, a perfect combination of scent discrimination and directed jumping! For Pippa it's just the actual picking up of the metal she just can't get her little mouth around. She identifies them ok, but can't wrap her little chops around the metal unless it is slightly raised off the ground. We really need the raised dumbbell types that the US uses!

Naww you're too kind They are going to take over the woooooorld!!!! :D How's Waldo going? Certainly is

Notice they aren't using standard ANKC pass cards over your way? Hate the horrible A4 things we now have!! Waste of trees in the long run You're right, that one doesn't appear to be. However, the ANKC ones we do get here are certainly not A4 size! Majority are still the same size as this one (A5? or whatever half of A4 is).

Well done CC!! That is great news! Couple of brags here. Ruby finally managed to get her JDM title a few weekends ago And I finally bit the bullet and entered Pippa in obedience (novice). After a couple of absolutely beautiful rounds, but the springs coming uncoiled in the last 30 seconds of the down stay (BOING!!), 3rd time lucky we finally managed to crack our first pass and a win! Go Ninja!!

That's awesome, OSS!!! Good girl Rommi

Waldo is fantastic! I hope you have some videos to share at some point so I can show Pippa what her big bro is doing and that she needs to pull her socks up! How is Waldo going with holding the metal article for UD? I've been working on this with Pippa for quite a while now and she just has so much trouble picking it up off the floor. She tries and tries but it's hard for her. She will hold it if I give it to her, but her poor little teeth are chattering away - must be an awful feeling to have metal in your mouth so I really feel for her!

Last weekend of trialling is over for 2014 so thought I would update this. My trialling year was practically non-existent, I just got way too busy to train or trial. After this weekend of obedience and agility, I found how much I missed it! Hate that the only time I'm really free to train/trial is over the summer break when everything shuts down too! That being said, here is what we did manage to achieve in our short trialling year :)

Thought my saga was over before it started. Haven't had any debits since May and based on past experience of this happening, meant I was no longer covered. I was then debited 3 times, yes THREE times this week. I can see they are trying to make up the months in the middle they missed, but to debit someone 3 times in a week for their stuff up, isn't cool!! I emailed them after they debited twice to say I wanted it cancelled and refunded - no answer, and then the 3rd debit comes out. I may even just go straight to the source and stop the debit from the bank end. Been meaning to cancel that credit card anyway! Petplan used to have a good reputation, now they are just shonky shonksters!!!!!

OMG GO WALDO!!!! And of course you too, Sue!!! :D :D Please tell me there is video!! Go the schnauzers!

Looks like my decision to renew has been made for me! This is the SECOND time that I have noticed that my monthly Petplan payments haven't been coming out of my credit card. The first time, sadly I didn't notice until a year later I'm ashamed to say. I rang them and asked WTH?! They said they changed systems about a year ago blah blah, but if I wanted continuing cover, I had to backpay that year and then continue on. I decided to do that. Now tonight I log onto my online banking as this thread prompted me to check if my premium had been hiked with no warning because my renewal is due around this time, to find that the last payment came out in May. Did I read somewhere in here earlier that they changed their system again? Total incompetence!! I have decided not to bother contacting them about it, as it is likely I won't want to renew anyway with the insane price hikes everyone is getting, especially considering you guys are having issues getting refunds!

Doesn't matter now, anyway, holiday aborted Can't get into a kennel and a house sitting service that services Canning Vale "doesn't service" my suburb which is right next door! What the?! I would have kept trying but now other factors mean holiday is off. Hope you enjoy your lovely trip :D
-
Raffiki, that would be great, thanks :) Tassie, got it, thanks :) Mim, I want a real holiday As much as I will miss the dogs, I want some child-free time We are planning a cruise from Singapore :) But that place sounds like a good place for when I do want a doggy holiday one day!
-
Hi WA DOLers I know this thread is pretty dead these days but I'm hoping some of you are still reading here so I can hopefully get some help!! I'm thinking about taking my first holiday in yonks, and my first holiday where the parentals can't look after the dogs (as the family are looking at doing a cruise together). I'm almost contemplating not going because I can't bear the thought of leaving the dogs in kennels for so long, and being away from them for 2 weeks. But I thought I might try and investigate house sitting options instead, as that may alleviate my anxiety slightly It's probably too late anyway to find kennels for them, as it's for January, busy time!!! Can anyone recommend a good house sitter? And what are the normal terms? ie. is it paid? It would be for 2 labradors and 1 (maybe 2!) mini schnauzers. I hope someone can help. We sort of need to decide this weekend if we're going to book or not, and if I can't find any options for the dogs, then it's another holiday I will need to forfeit!! Cheers

Agility Nationals 2014
RubyStar replied to rusty&biscuit's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
I really want to do a Nationals! But the only dog I really have to run at one is not mine - and I don't think my mum will let me pinch her dog for a week and take her on a plane ride Not enough time to get my own dog in time for the next Nationals, either Will have to sweet talk mum into it and hope that timing works out for me! 2016 is set to be a busy year -
I haven't done any obedience trialling this year, and very little training too due to lack of time, so the obedience and rally goals are sitting on the shelf for now.

Your Gabby is such a good girl, xena98!!! Small brag here, little Pippa got her AD title on the weekend to go with her JDX :)

Go the mini schnauzers! Regardless of what country they're from Best of luck everyone! So jealous, wanted to be there with little ninja, but timing is just never right. Might get a chance to enter the 2018 Nationals at this rate With any luck they might be back in Perth by then? :p -
Hi Nick, I haven't priced up labs in many years, but I would say at a guess around the $1200-$1500 mark?
