  1. I really like your site, RV. It's neat, attractive, easy to navigate, and has info that most people are after :)
  2. Slacker, you should've come! Two people from the hills/whoop whoop area made the trek :p The water was quite choppy yesterday so the dogs got dumped a fair few times, so probably not a good intro for water wussy dogs! Glad I didn't take Pippa as she only swam for the first time last week, wouldn't want to scare her so quickly! She probably would have gone right under My two got dumped heaps but kept coming out for more, especially Millie, my latecomer to swimming who kept swimming out to me, even though she got massive waves in her face in the process Swimming back to shore was fun, they rode the waves in I'm sure Ruby will say thanks, RV!
  3. Back to work today Blah!! But had a fantastic time at the beach yesterday!! Ended up staying about 6.5 hours No wonder I'm a little on the burnt side today I reapplied sunscreen a fair bit, but didn't take with wet hands and wet skin, and couldn't reach my back properly! The dogs had a ball, and it was Ruby's birthday so the 15 dogs in attendance all got special doggy birthday cake :) My two were running around all day showing little signs of slowing down, until the last half hour where they just stood staring at me with this look "I've had enough, I really wanna go home and sleep". So we did :) Congrats on your show results with Anikka, mirawee!
  4. So who is showing tomorrow night? I don't like having a big NYE and currently not doing anything, but love doing the NYE dog show (spectator obviously  would so love an agility trial on NYE!!) I would like to pop along but don't know who is going from here and if there are any groups from here sitting together and whether I could tag along So what are your NYE plans everyone?! :D
  5. Sounds like you're having a real blast with your training TSD
  6. We're all in holiday mode at my place. So much I could be working on, so little motivation in this heat! I think the most I've done in weeks is a bit of walking backwards in heel with the Labs, and some fronts/finishes/holds with the little one. But we've been having fun at the beach a bit, so I don't think the dogs care too much about the lack of training
  7. Didn't end up going. I wouldn't go anywhere either if I had a pool That's a one day dream for me!
  8. Aww how cute CC!! I'm thinking about doing another trip to Kwinana dog beach in the morning if anyone is interested in joining us? Thinking 8-8.30am-ish!
  9. Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas!! xx
  10. Thanks, Tassie! Yep the uni results were the icing on the cake! It was a pretty hairy year, not a lot of time to scratch my bum, and to think I almost pulled out of a retrieving trial at the last minute because I had a panic attack about an essay that was due, to end up going anyway and Ruby giving me her first 3 birdies in a row for her first finish! I was in tears (of joy!) Definitely the highlight of my trialling year that day, and she got a nice retrieving fringie to boot for her 2nd place, never thought I'd get one of those!!
  11. Now that the trialling year has ended, time to update. We trialled very sparingly this year as I have been busy with Uni, and missed quite a lot of obedience and agility trials due to the retrieving season and a few holidays Updates in red.
  12. No problem with an off switch here I'd say a lot of lab owners are the same, even those with working lines. Comes down to training and boundaries. Yet it took this one a week (THATS WEEK) to work out how to use a treat toy. You just have to knock it for it to spit out food (as the older one demostrated the second she went near it). He saw food next to it and pushed it out of the way ate the food and lost interest until with some special lessons and encouragement he slowly worked out how to make food appear. A week! Training and boundaries yes but still takes a while to get through in there. I think we're talking about two different things here Or are you referring to MRB's post about einstein labs and food?

  14. Had my first agility trial in a looooong time last night, have really missed it! I was actually a bit disappointed that the club ran it so efficiently that it finished early No passes for Millie last night, but some near misses. I pulled her off a jump too early in JDM causing 1 refusal, but gosh the course was lovely! I would have loved to run it again She also did nicely in JDO but took the wrong tunnel entry (NFI how on earth that happened, the tunnel entry was the OTHER SIDE ) but I'm quite pleased she got the distance challenge (it wasn't too challenging) and she got her weave entry, because weaving seamlessly as part of a course is our biggest bugbear at the moment Looking forward to getting back into training next year and hopefully fitting more trials in.
  15. Sorry it didn't work out, whitka. Hope things go well for you both back in Vic!
  16. Yep, far from thick. Just need training, guidance and consistency, and an owner with a sense of humour for when they decide to help out in the garden and stuff
  17. for Lab Rescue. This is where I got my Millie from 4 years ago as a 2 year old. Had her flown from Canberra to Perth no worries. Lovely ladies to deal with, too
  18. I'm not sure it's looking that positive. So far only looks like half a dozen of us? And nobody can decide on a place I can make a booking somewhere for us tomorrow for next Thursday night, just need definite numbers and your vote on where you want to go! So please respond here if you are in for dinner, thanks!!
  19. Have to agree, it was delish! But I came home feeling really ill, don't think it agreed with me I tend to feel like that when I eat Chinese as well. No fair, cos I love Asian type foods!!! Come to think of it, last time I went to a sushi bar and yum cha I felt the same (especially after the pork bun). I think I have an intolerance to yummy international foods, oh noes!!!
  20. I would disagree with that :p Just they do things all over the state where as we tend to have things more centralised as there isn't a big enough population to support non-localised services. 1.5 hours over East seems to be a "long" way yet I do that to work every day! The 20th is fine for me although if we go to Pancho's I would think we would need to book early as they get VERY busy. The other option is somewhere closer to Canning Vale? That may be more central if anyone wants to come from Rockingham/Mandurah way... You are confusing, mirawee, or just like to debate with me for fun Basically the same thing. Everything is so spread out and larger population so it's friggin huge. Smaller population here, things closer together. You're the exception though, you live out in whoop whoop so that doesn't count Happy with Canning Vale, that's closer to home, but do you have any suggestions where though?
  21. I am in rocko, I would consider that close :) ( I have recently just moved to Perth from NZ and still getting over how BIG and FAR AWAY everything is lol.) Don't move to the East Coast, then. Perth is very small and everything is close together in comparison!!!
  22. All of the fun, none of the financial responsibility!! And golly gosh she's a little ripper, too!
